Yup. Softball wins. Fans go to softball. More dedicated attendees for softball. Dominate the league in ways never seen before. Make the WCWS a third of the time. Have an elite staff that has been together for years and show no signs of departing, but rather continue the legacy after Hutch steps down

Baseball has miles to go to even be in the conversation for #4.

In Bakich's intro press conference he mentioned that he hopes they can catch Michigan Softball.

I doubt they will though. That would require decades of domination that would be unprecedented.

They had something going in the 80s with their domination of the conference and World Series appearances but it all turned out to be tainted which resulted in the NCAA sanctions.

I like Bakich a lot and he has turned this thing around pretty quickly, but the team hasn't even made a tournament yet. They're getting big wins over ranked teams, but at the same time are losing to mid majors that are crippling their RPI and chances of an at-large bid.

They have a chance to start the climb tomorrow when they face #4 Illinois in the B1G Tournament Semifinals and on Sunday if they do stun Illinois.

a huge achievement.

I don't think the climb for baseball would have to be the same as the one softball has made for the past 25 years.  Right or wrong, I think that has to do with the general interest in baseball across the country.  People will start to pay attention to the baseball team more quickly as they are successful early on.

Hockey certainly isn't helping its standing by losing and not making the tournament for the past three years.

Attendance is going down and hoo boy is it gonna go down even more next season with that Atlantic Hockey home schedule of Mercyhurst, Robert Morris and Niagara.

I don't understand how they do it.  My coed softball league team when I worked for Burger King could never find 5 women, let alone that many.

I really like how Michigan let Georgia catch up only to crush their dreams in the end. Like a cat toying with a mouse.

To be fair, the mouse has incredible speed :)

to Georgia for battling right to the end today---especially in the teeth of a fierce Richtian blizzard, with half the team fearing frostbite and the other half watching for Santa (Hey, we are close to the north Pole, aren't we??!)

I am seriously debating to make the trip to OKC. I'm relatively new to softball and this program as a person with serious interest, but I have followed since 2005 when I was an incoming freshman on campus. Is there any question this is Hutch's best team? And this team is also so fun to watch and root for
