Top of the second, 0-0. Let's go girls! Lost 7-6 yesterday to Kentucky, but that was with a great comeback, making it a good game.
We need to win two more to advance, loss and we're done.
that avatar... why?
part about watching all of these games this weekend is having to listen to pam ward... i'm really starting to wondering if she knows anything about any sport that she calls...
That's not Pam Ward...
correct. Pam Ward is terrible.
Lloyd Carr's at the game. Nice to see him supporting the team.
Also, are we the away team because we're in the loser's bracket, even though it's in Ann Arbor?
Yep. I think we'd get to be the home team in game 2 today if we force it.
Lloyd sat near me. I asked him to comment about your Mgopost. Do you know what he said?
No comment. Damn, I thought I would get a little something out of him.
Strike Zone is to tight by the HP umpire
thats what she said.?
I wish they'd put it directly behind the pitcher in dead-center so you could get a better idea of where some of these pitches really are.
was tight all weekend.
2 on in the 4th need a big hit here
Takes the lead, 1-0!
A little early for rally caps I'd say. Especially since we weren't down at all in this game up to the point I saw them...
Well we're in the losers bracket.. So i'd say we need to rally to win three (now two) straight
Loving the guy in the Kentucky cutoff shirt sitting behind homeplate, hillarious.
1-0 lead Loving it....Taylor looking good so far.. 3 up 3 down
If we pull of the two wins, the Super Regoinal would be in Berkley or AA if Louisville makes it, right?
Cal can't host for whatever reason, so the super regional is in Ann Arbor regardless.
Also, at this point in the regional, they have to know that change up is coming, right? Just a vicious pitch.
Jordan Taylor is so good its almost unfair
That second called strike on one of the eventual walks might have been the worst called strike ever, though. That thing was a foot outside and the girl started to first before being called back.
But I agree. JT is nasty good
Yeah that was pretty ridiculous, she walked anyway so no harm done really. It was such a late strike call too.
cause that was really a good foot outside ... plus she didnt score so its all good
# 17 for Kentucky (Rowlands?) is ridiculously attractive.
I was thinking the same thing haha
can I get a score update please
Not much scoring. We're up 1-0 in the 7th.
Michigan scored on an error after two walks, so for a while the Kentucky pitcher was losing while throwing a no hitter. I think we've had 1 hit and Kentucky has had 3. So both pitchers are pitching out of their minds, with JT having 10 K's and no runs.
good. need to hold in so we can get to this next game
1-0 Michigan, top of the 7th.
We're up 1-0 going into the bottom of the ninth.
Edit: oops, its seventh. Either way, its their last chance in this game
Don't worry about it your out!!!!!
Come on JT, 3 up 3 down here!!! We go to the bottom of the 7th up 1-0.
god damn it
Shit. Looks like were going to extras.
FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU solo home run for Kentucky in the bottom of the 7th.
Taylor follows up the HR with a 4 pitch BB. Gotta settle down.
Damn Damn Damn hold it together Ladies Lets Go Blue!!!
Two on, first and second, 8 straight balls after the HR...
And now 8 straight balls
After Taylor hits a girl.
Hasn't thrown a strike since the HR.
Damn it all to hell
This is not looking good...
JT lost the mental battle. She's trying too hard. Bases loaded no outs
this is tough to watch... total mental breakdown. Come on JT.
Jt lost her composure :(
Hopefully she can K 3 straight to come back... she IS the all-time M leader in K's
Need a strikeout here
I don't know how these girls pitch so many games without rest.
And has carried this team. Lot of pressure on her. She's fighting. Hope she can get out of it.
One down, two to go...
1 out ...
2 more... c'mon!
Thats 1!!! Come on ladies!
Kentucky wins. M season over.
Damn shame the person who brought us here is the reason for the loss. Hope this doesn't stick with her.
Okay, I have to say this: Who the fuck voted this funny? Not cool, man.
And thats the season
The tiniest of hits... little looper off the end of her bat just over the 1B's head.
That's the danger with having all of your infielders up
by a .139 hitter. fuck
JT just wasn't the same after that home run. Great season ladies, we are all still very proud of what you have done.
Crazy impressed with this team. Just two tough losses to Kentucky. A tough first loss with some rough calls and a comeback that fell short, one run loss... and now this, a Kentucky comeback that is completed with a 60+ foot looper hit, one run loss.
Great season, ladies.
Not the way you want to end your career, feel bad for the girl.
dude with testicles and stuff.
Sad to see the season end.....also from every game I watched this season this was the worst possible time for the team to go into a funk. They didn't look comfortable all weekend long.
Congrats to the ladies for a great regular season and hope next year brings better fortunes.
Over 400 pitches in less than 48hrs. No other pitchers available?
This is how softball works, you ride one girl's right or left arm (Jennie Ritter, Cat Osterman, the Canadian whose name I'm forgetting for Washington last year, Monica Abbott, etc.). Something about the throwing motion doesn't put as much strain on the shoulder so it's totally doable, though I don't understand why.
does not put any strain on any muscles. Its all about stamia. Can a girl stay out there for long periods of time.
I don't know why you would play your WHOLE infield that far in that situation... if the first baseman is playing at regular depth that is an out. I could see the third baseman needing to play in, but the pitcher can take the bunt down the first baseline.
in that situation the play is at home...the other runners dont matter. You have to play both of them up to eliminate a bunt down the first base line and force your pitcher to have to make the play.
it was the right play with a good cheap hit to win it. Both teams played it correctly.
Because you have to get the out at home. It's more likely for there to be a ground ball right at someone than a little looper over first base.
Also, for Taylor to make that play as a right handed pitcher in time to get the pinch runner (and thus presumably the fastest girl they've got) would be an absurdly athletic play.
We had 2 of our top players out (Kirkpatrick and Sappingfiled). So I was not that bummed when we lost.
I will be posting some "HELLO" posts regarding some of our recruits. I will give you a hint. The pitcher we have coming in this fall is probably going to content with JT for some records. This girl is the real deal.
I will wait until the HS season is over before I do a profile on her. We have some good utility players coming as well.
Well that really fucking sucked, my kids were all wanting to go to the games next weekend. I guess we won't be watching any more Michigan sports until September!
Ouch.. Well they played good, just couldn't get it done in the end. Great season none the less.. Jordan Taylor we will miss you!
The worst part about this loss: we don't get to see the beautiful face of #18 when the cameraman cuts to the dugout anymore.
Congrats to the ladies for an over-achiving season! Lack of pitching depth, losing an up and coming star, #2 hitter late in the season, plus the starting SS early in the season, and still achieve everything they did.
Tough, tough loss today, but thanks for making it exciting all year!
Great season. Thx MGoSoftball for keeping Us involved. Go Blue.
not that bad for us. I am sad for JT as she pitched her ass off. But she always hung in there. I got a chance to chat with her for a second after the game and she said she would give up all her accolades to go to Oklahoma City and the WS.
JT was visably shaken up. She felt that she let her team down. All I said to her was that we are all proud of you JT, thanks for all the memories over the past few years. What a wonderful person she is. Well I guess I can cancel my flight and hotel to OKC.
Another back story during the game, UK is a team that loves to play scrappy. They are a very good team and a lot of fun to watch. During the TV timeout, the UK 1st baseman was tryint to learn the words to the "Victors". She was clapping her glove and pumping her fist. It was nice to see her respect us in that manner.
The UK crowd was very polite and respectful. They rarely got upset and seemed to enjoy AA.
The good news is that next year will be even better for sure.
Really, really disappointed to not get to go to a super-regional, it would've been tremendous fun. Still, you absolutely cannot feel bad about a 53-6 record at the end of the season. Great season from the team, and a fantastic year from Jordan Taylor, who will go down in M softball history as an all-time great. Just tough that it had to end like this.
It was disapointing to say the least. UK played well and deserved to win.
JT was full of emotion and even Hutch got a tear to her eye. She said she was upset because JT had played her ass off.
It was a wonderful day in AA. Everyone was out in force, Lloyd Carr, DB, Desmond Howard and many of the football team. I even thought I saw Bo floating around.
