Softball: Romero and (alum) Chidester make US National Team
National Team selection camp ended earlier today in Irvine, CA and the announced roster includes SS Sierra Romero and former C/IF Amanda Chidester. Romero should be in the running for national player of the year again as a junior in 2015, and Michigan is more primed for a run at a national championship than they have been in a few years (and for a couple to come, IMO).
For those that don't follow softball, making the US National Team isn't quite like making the US Olympic basketball team, but it's also not that far off in the sense that the US is almost always a heavy favorite in international competition. Romero and Chidester will play for the US in the World Cup of Softball and the Pan American Games this July.
Sierra Romero's younger sister Sydney (2015 Oklahoma signee) made the US Junior National team.

Since we can't leave Harbaugh out of anything, here's another Hutch tweet.

Romero is beyond being an unbelievable player. Does anyone know the story on how we were able to land her at UM?
I have 2 daughters that play softball (I coach) and we watch as many highlights as we can of her in the field and at the plate. Truly amazing athlete.

Congrats to both! Sierra Romero is amazing--but how did we let her sister sign with OU? Fire Hucthins!

In 2013 Sydney Romero watched Michigan (led by her sister) play OU in the WCWS decked out in Michigan gear as an Oklahoma commit. Pretty awkward but I'm not sure what the better choice would have been for her.

Great news for both of them! Unbelievable what Romo has achieved, despite just being halfway through her UM career! I had just been thinking that it was about time to start work on a season preview for the 2015 campaign. Just a month to go before first-pitch!

It's always excellent to learn about the success of my fellow Wolverines. Typically I favor watching mens sports, however, I do prefer watching womens softball to mens baseball any day irrespective of level. (DePaul is a few blocks away, I've taught there, and I attend their softball contests a few times per year with faculty.) Softball players tend to play very intelligently and they have tremendous speed and power. Games are a blast. I'm pleased to see this development for Romero and Chidester, it's a credit to both of them. Now they just have to win all of their games what with expectations.

wonderful accolade. The softball team has a great chance of making a run in this year's tourney. This year's team is stacked with talent, probably better than the Jordan/Dorian combo.
Shall I make reservations now?
