Soccer: Jozy to Sunderland
American forward Jozy Altidore is being transferred from AZ Alkmaar in the Dutch league to Sunderland in the Premier league. Reportedly Sunderland runs a 4-4-2 so he'll be paired on top.
Hope he gets lots of playing time -- he had all of it at Alkmaar, but will have to prove himself at Sunderland.
(For non-soccer fans, Joze is one of the national team's very best players and a rising star; his transfer back into England for his professional club hopefully bodes well for his development, just like our goalkeepers as well as Clint Dempsey. This has been a long-rumored transfer, and it's great to see it came through. I hope. If he doesn't get playing time, well...)
He just needs to watch out for those Geordie girls. Except Cheryl Cole...
Great! Will be able to watch him now on TV much more.
You will when Sunderland plays Man U, Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, or Liverpool...at the very least.

Low-table EPL? Hard to see how he'll develop there. Hoping no longballs for days, but ughhh.
Would've strongly preferred a Germany or Italy move.
I was hoping for Swansea. The missing piece for that team is a striker and, if they get a good one, they'll challenge for a top five finish this season. Mark it dude.
Paolo Di Canio, the volatile Italian who has a tattoo of Benito Mussolini on his back and has proudly said he's "a fascist, not a racist," does not seem like the best fit for Jozy Altidore. Long-time Arsenal fans well remember the incident in 1998 when Di Canio, playing for Sheffield Wednesday, pushed a referee to the ground after he was sent off. While it's great to have Jozy Altidore back in the Premiership, we can only hope that he'll have no conflicts with his manager.
This is what scares me a year before the WC. Dude has such a short fuse, as do most managers in England. He could wake up on the wrong side of the bed and all of a sudden Jozy will be out of the XI. Just when he was finding his form at AZ...seems risky.
Great move for Jozy to get back in the EPL!
Glad to see NBC is going to pick them up this season.
