so who sees Denard on campus?

Submitted by Blue Blue Blue on

so Denard says the other students are not making a big deal of him, just a few passing "great game" comments.    good for us.

who has any "I came across Denard in the...." stories?   I hear he is a very friendly guy.

I was eating with some friends late last night at Denny's in ann arbor and Denard walked in with his girlfriend. No one really paid much attention to him and I don't think many people knew who he was besides our table. He was very friendly though. We just said keep up the good work and he smiled and said thanks and that was that.

What kind of stories is the OP expecting? We see him on campus. He walks around. Sometimes he has a backpack, sometimes not. The excitement ends there. People don't make a fuss because for the most part we're a respectful bunch.

If there's a Michigan Football Players board, they're probably trading stories about how these middle-aged ladies in Meijer stare in this creepy fashion but thank god don't dry hump their legs.

Because, guilty as charged.  I never say anything, but I am sure my dorky smile of delighted recognition is unmistakable.

Meijer is always a good time.  I love going in on Thursday nights when the fraternity brothers are stocking up for the weekend.  I can feel my liver twinging in memory of my younger days.

I see him MWF in Angell Hall.  He's always talking to a friend or going up to class, nothing too exciting. I always am happy to see him though, as I actually don't see many football players around campus throughout my day, but some of the freshmen live in my residence hall.

It was actually pretty weird, for the Notre Dame game, I saw some of the players who are redshirting/don't travel just walking around South Quad about an hour before kickoff.  Wouldn't you think that they watched the game in an athletic building or something? (but I really don't know)

I saw him on the Commuter North / Commuter South buses a few times last year (I was in CE but lived on central, so I took them daily back and forth).  He was always wearing that blue Adidas pullover thing that all the athletes have, and always sat in the back, where there's two benches facing each other.  I never saw anyone gush over him, but he wasn't HE16MAN then either.

I saw him on campus today.  His dreads look a little out of sorts.  He must be having a bad hair day.  Judging by his scent, I believe he used Axe Body Wash this morning.  I followed him to Subway and he ate a meatball sandwich on wheat bread with Provolone cheese.  He paid for it with a $20 and he had to accept 15 $1 bills as change because they were out of 5s and 10s.  He seemed a little bit annoyed by this, which is kind of unusual, since this kind of thing usually doens't bother him.  Then he met up with a friend and they talked bout playing Call of Duty on XBox 360 later this week.  His XBox username is Dilithium_man.  I'll probably look for him online Sunday.

Braylon Edwards grabbed me a la Lewan grabbing Denard when I was a freshman and threw me on a pile of snow in front of both the South and West Quad co-eds during the yearly Snow War. As he did it he yelled "Yeah Baby, Yeah Nigg**!". Inmediately after that he gets nailed on the mouth by a snowmball thrown from a girl living in South Quad. Next thing I knkw he and 5 dudes chase the girl into South Quad... never to be seen again. That goes to show that not all Michigan Stars are as humble as Denard.

I was behind Je'Ron Stokes at Gamestop the other night.

I was waiting in line to buy Street Fighter 4, but he got a PS3 and Madden '11.

Woulda invited him over for some good ol' street fighter action but I didn't think he would have wanted to play :(

Back around when the Wii came out, in like Jan. 2006, I was in line at a Target at like 7am on a Sunday morning to get one and I was behind Chad Henne. Even at 7am...he was magestic.

Also, I went bowling on my birthday in 2008, and in the lane next to me was Mike Hart, Steve Breaston, Adrian Arrington, and Larry Foote. So sweet. Those black dudes sure could bowl, I tell ya.

I was an RA in West Quad last year. I would see him around all the time. He was the coolest, down to earth guy, and super respectful. A little different from another resident on my floor I had a year earlier by the name of Tate (who I think has matured a little bit since then hopefully)

It;s just cool to see former residents of mine playing on TV, like Vince Smith, Terrence Robinson and JT Floyd. Even James Rogers was my next door neighbor my sophmore year. Kinda surreal.

I walked by Denard today and noticed that I was taller.  While his life is way better than mine, I can relish the fact that I get access to more amusement park rides than he does.

I once had Mike Hart sit down next to me in class while I was reading MGoBlog on my laptop.  His picture happened to be on the screen.  I turned to see who sat next to me, saw it was Mike, and gave him a nod as I hit Apple-W on my keyboard.  It was MGoAwkward.

Moral of the story?  These are real kids.  Let 'em go to class without making a big deal out it.  I hope that's what's happening on campus right now.
