I hear he says to use bathrooms and not bushes. Classic Brandon.
So who has Dave Brandon's letter to the students?
We are sure that you are as excited as we are about Saturday's football game against "Ohio."
We are counting on our student section within Michigan Stadium to add to our home-field advantage. Your support, enthusiasm – and NOISE – will help give the Wolverines an edge.
At the same time, we anticipate that all students, staff and faculty will join other fans and residents in welcoming our opponents into Ann Arbor and being gracious hosts to our visitors. Michigan is known for good sportsmanship and sustaining that reputation is important to us all.
Games with intense rivalries can sometimes heighten fan concerns about safety. As always, the safety of our team, our students, our fans and our visitors will be our first priority.
If you will be hosting a gathering, follow the advice of Heisman Trophy winner and Super Bowl MVP Desmond Howard. He urges all students to "Stay in the Blue."http://vimeo.com/28559417
It also is important to remember the following tips to help minimize risk and maximize fun.
What to do:
* Be considerate of neighbors.
* Monitor how much people are drinking.
* Control the noise level.
* Be respectful of the police.
* Leave your drinks behind when you leave a party.
* Use bathrooms, not bushes.
* Use trash containers, not the ground.
* Make sure those under 21 are not drinking.
Things not to do:
* Do not walk in the streets with open alcohol.
* Do not allow intoxicated people to drive.
* Do not play music, etc. loudly between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.
We look forward to a tremendous game on Saturday. Please help us create an enthusiastic and safe environment and ensure that the Wolverines win with spirit and class.
David A. Brandon, Athletic Director
Laura Blake Jones, Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students
For all the things administration could stay, that was pretty realistic. But for pop evil, i'd say I'm solidly a db fan.
Oh, God no Dave! "Ohio."? The period goes outside the quotation marks. Do you even know who you are fucking with here?
Actually it doesn't. Brandon is right there. The period would only be outside the quotation marks if one is from England, as that is the British way to punctuate. The American way is to always put the period or comma inside the quotation marks.
This is different for colons or semi-colons, which go outside the quotation marks. Also, question marks are outside or inside and follow logic, based on whether the quoted material asks a question or is just being stated in the context of a greater question.
Still, periods are always inside, regardless of whether the whole line is a quote or a small phrase is quoted inside a larger sentence.
Standard Operating Procedure
If he doesnt want people to get overly drunk and pee in the bushes he better get some letters to the Ohio fans.
I'm thinking letters might not be the way to communicate with the Ohio folks. Probably need to dumb it down significantly.
True, but how is he going to get this issue aired on Family Guy prior to the game?
Bushes? Come on, that's what trees are for.
And empty bottles.
Don't forget that apparently coolers are sometimes useful too.
"We look forward to a tremendous game"...the lingo is spreading...eeeexcellent
supposed to supply the coolers, or do buckeye fans bring their own?
He says absolutely nothing about storming the field.
And last time we rushed the field.
Two years ago I found cups with the remnants of someone's chewing tobacco spread all over the club level. Later, I found out, that: guess what; it was an Ohio fan! No respect.
We had a "Michigan girl" in front of us two years ago who brought her OSU boyfriend. The guy tried to start two fistfights with old men and then threw up on a middle aged mother in front of him with her two kids. We gave event staff a standing ovation when they got hauled him out. Still bests the Wiscy fan who whipped it out and peed on the row in front of him last year though.
He called them Ohio. lolz
He called them "Ohio" as if he were making condescending air quotes.
It's OK to pee on drunken ohio fans?
Wish he would have also urged them to show up on time. Their punctuality has left something to be desired this season.
Yes, show up before halftime. Just this once, k? Team needs you.
Watched the game on TV and before kick off they did a stadium shot and there were tons of empty seats in the student section.
He should have asked them to refrain from turning on any electronics at the game to avoid another power failure.
I don't see anything wrong with it. Very reasonable. Get drunk, have a good time, just don't be a dumb ass.
* Do not play music, etc. loudly between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. (Unless it's Pop Evil, Drowning Pool, Neil Diamond, or Journey).
"Your support, enthusiasm – and NOISE – will help give the Wolverines an edge."
then follow that with
'Control the noise level.'
Sounds counter productive unless he means control your noise by keeping it loud?
That comment was directed towards students hosting a party.
