so where IS Dorsey?

Submitted by Blue Blue Blue on

we heard he was going to Louisville, then we heard he somehow was not on the roster.

did he end up at the juco?  perhaps if he gets his grades up he can still lead the No Fly Zone.

I checked a few weeks ago but couldn't find anything; I think Brian even mentioned he's not on Louisville, but no mention of where he is.  I hope he's on the right track though.  This defense would be a lot more interesting if he was granted admission.  And by interesting, i mean awesome.

He did not make M, nor Louisville, nor is he enrolled at the JUCO where he signed the other LOI. Best bet is his Mom's couch, feeling very sorry for himself and trying to figure out what to do next. That's where I'd be.

ya i feel like he got screwed over just from like an educational stand point.

"here is a free education come to our school and play football"

2 weeks before practice "sorry you cant come here" "Find another place for a scholarship and to play  football in less then 2 weeks"

How can you not feel sorry for him? He grew up in a terrible area, in a school that obviously has zero expectations. He made some bad choices early on and really had no one to kick him in the ass and set him straight. The kid tried to turn it around and came up short.

It wouldn't have made any sense to admit him if he couldn't make the grades to keep himself playing. If you want to go down the road of fudging his grades because the football team was that desperate then you're cheering for the wrong team. Hopefully in time he will get himself together and get on a program somewhere. Hell he could go to a MAC school and become a star. Do something with his life.

very saddened about the news that he wouldn't be allowed into Michigan, that he really looked forward to being here. Listening to the players during press conferences makes me feel Demar would of been given good direction here, good influences. Would he have been a top student, maybe not, but I think it would of been a fair trade for the University to give him the opportunity to grow, both mentally and physically grow, and give him a chance at a career in the pros; certainly the program -and by extension, the University- would have benefited with him being on the team.

Demar, I hope you are out there reading this, and that you don't give up on your dreams; prepare for your future and get things moving NOW. Give it another shot and make preps to come to Michigan. Or anywhere; just get on the road to being the "You" that you can be.

or prep school is on him. Unlike D1 schools each JUCO sets there own accademic requirments, infact many JUCO's specalize in prepering former dropouts or GED holders to go on to a four year school. Demar has the talent to play at Michigan but with his grades and apparent lack of motivation about school I think the he would have struggled off the field at Michigan.

Agreed. I teach at a D-2 school, and we get lots of athletes like Demar - not nearly as talented, but having the same lack of preparation for college work. Because it's the mission of our school, we provide these students with lots of help, trying to assist them in catching up with their better prepared comrades.

As you can imagine, we have some great success stories and some pretty depressing failures, but schools like mine are geared (and driven by their mission) to help someone like Demar - UM is not, so JUCO or D-2 would be a better option for him.

Had a chance to be a really good "kid turns things around" story. I do wish him well but there must be more to this story. Too bad on many levels

as of earlier this month he wasn't going to be anywhere because the grade issue was a clearinghouse issue and therefore not the fault of our admissions for not accepting him (meaning he doesn't make the grade anywhere).  He is now trying to enroll for spring at Louisville which is why he isn't on the roster now.

He could probably still get into classes at a near by JUCO this semester Many offer quarter classes. May help with the transition in the classroom at Louisville.  I wish him all the best!

I doubt he plays football for any BCS school. The only reason I say that is because his poor grades are coupled with a background (I don't want to say criminal because he wasn't convicted of anything) that make many academic institutions leary.

I hope I'm wrong because I really wanted to see him on campus, but that dream is long gone unfortunately.

Good luck Demar.
