EDIT: Having trouble gettin' image to show....
And disappeared before a picture could be taken?
I retracted my earlier statement - cool picture.
Recently came across this great article on Mone and the type of character he has. I can't wait to see what he can do on the field. Truly will be a Michigan Man.
+1 to you for posting that article. What a great kid!
...sans Tom Brady?
It's like Garfield minus Garfield!
Hey guys I realize the problem. one moment.
edit: Now I see the image. Tom makes me happy...
I guess since he is in town he won't have to have Spots deliver to his hotel in Detroit like hes done in the past
Are you kidding? He's going to have Spots for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, for the next couple of days.
What a role model. I hope he becomes a huge part of this program after he retires....I bet he would be a good coach if he so wanted one day
He's going to be a bazillionaire, married to one of the hottest women in the world, be one of the most successful quarterbacks in the history of football...there's very limited upside to coming back and coaching (for him, anyway)
unless he REEEEEEEEEEEEEEALLLY likes 100 hour work weeks.
He won't want to be called "Coach" but "Mr. President."
Former presidents make all the money they want after their term is up.
Highest paid public servants in most all states are football coaches. If pay is an issue... he will stick with football.
Tom Brady makes me giggly.
Michigan Football makes me giggly.
Michigan Football meetings with Tom Brady make me gigglygiggly.
Injuries cannot stem my excitement.
Neither can stale UFRs.
Also, Stale UFR > no UFR.
Pretty sure you were going for "giggity".
Great for the program and Hoke to have Brady back on campus. Hopefully he becomes more of a fixture around A2.
Hoke actually looks a little giddy in that picture. He is like OMG it is Tom Brady!!
I doubt it. He coached him and still calls him Tommy.
Both of them arrived in Ann Arbor the same year: 1995
That definitely seems like something Hoke would be thinking, right.
Seeing as how they were both at Michigan from 1996-2000, I don't think there would be a high level of idolization going on here.
There may be some contention over the rights to the name Brady though.
Probably not, because Hoke recruited Tom to Michigan originally.
all of you are really smart. I can't believe that you are all in possession of the top-secret, makes-you-cool-if-you-know-it information. YOU.ARE.COOL.
you obviously are not on MGoBlog Platinum, where we learn all our super top secret information. We already know who are next 5 commits will be.
/gets downgraded to MGoBlog gold.
Comn man, the first rule of MGoBlog Platinum....
Wait, a bunch of people here are on something called "MGoBlog Platinum." Do you make that in your basement? Are you guys the reason why I have to go to the counter to get some damn cold medicine? Figures!
BYW - I don't think ijohn acatually believed Hoke was giddy. The picture does kind of look that way though - thus the joke.
This almost made me spit out my coffee. It was sort of dick-ish, but called for.
Well played, ijohnb.
Nope. Just dickish. In a teenager kind of way.
I didn't think Hoke liked long sleeve shirts?
No, see, it's badass to wear a long sleeves in August, and short sleeves in December.
Badass, or Australian.
Don't worry, he has them rolled up.
Ohhhh, Drew Henson's back up. That guy.
Drew Henson is a future HOF'er for the New York Yankeeeees! Oh wait...
I think his main claim to fame is, the guy who married Gisele Bunchen.
The guy who married Gisele Bundchen.
That's awesome! Hopefully he got in a little 7 on 7 as well to prep for the regular season. Even with all the youth in our secondary it's still probably a better challenge than he'll get tonight from the Lions.
What do you think the ratio of Michigan football questions to Gisele Bundchen questions was? I'm guessing 1.019.
Greatest NFL player to ever attend Michigan. Nice.
Your first sentence is four words too long.
What's the fourth word that we're supposed to take out?
But I too was looking how to get "ever" in there also.
So Woodson was there too?
But Woodson hasn't had as good an NFL career as Brady. Partly due to injuries.
Brady is a big part of the history of the program and I am very happy he is comfortable enough to come back now.
was he previously not comfortable coming back? i know he was back for the 10 year 97 reunion...
What a thrill for all the players. Hopefully, he passed on some great tips to the team.
I imagine that if I'm a quarterback sitting in that meeting room while Brady is talking, a rush of complete relief would wash over me accompanied by the thought, "Oh yeah, I chose to come to the right place."
Like Tom Brady doesn't even really like Michigan because of the way the fans treated him and yada, yada, yada. Just because Brady isn't always out flashing the block M, pulling the super man and ripping off his Pats jersey to show a Michigan one underneath when he scores a TD, etc. doesn't mean he doesn't love the university that gave him the opportunity to be who he is today.
Great player, great guy, and glad he could be there to talk to the team.
Do people say that? I remember him and Charlie Weis having a pretty big rivalry once he took the ND job and he would wear M gear every now and then. He even insisted on mentioning "going to Michigan" in his Funny or Die sketch.
And whenever I hang out with him and his wife out here in LA we always talk about Ann Arbor.
And then rival fans always talk about it. "He doesn't even like Michigan 'cause you guys all hated him when he was there..." Yeah, no.
because they wanted two $10s.
There are plenty of articles refuting that, especially around the time of "the search". Shea's interview comes to mind if for no other reason than the fact that I'm not going to argue with him.
No joke once when I was at UofM a guy came up to me and asked for some money for bus fare. I handed him a bunch of change from my pocket including severally quarters. His response was "come on man don't you have a dollar bill?" Then he told me Denard wasn't fast enough.
You hang out with Tom Brady? You can't say that like its NBD. How does one simply "hang out" with Tom Brady?
I also believe everything I read on the Internet.
Yeah, that last part is totally made up, though my dream is that I run into TB around town during the offseason, we totally hit it off and we end up being family friends. Our kids are about the same age, our wives are from Latin America and we both went to Michigan. Once he retired, I'd bring the fam over to his house on Saturdays for Michigan games, and he'd take me golfing at the Riv.
Sometimes I'll grab lunch in Brentwood when I'm not even really in the area in the hopes I can get my plan in motion.
Oh, c'mon, you can be honest with us. We know occasionally you've daydreamed about your wife leaving you, and Tom and Gisele have also broken up, and Gisele comes over to your house to comfort you in your loneliness, and one thing leads to another, and pretty soon you're regularly having your way with Tom Brady's ex-wife.
I've had that dream, except in my dream Tom then says "aw that's alright man, hope you're happy together. You wanna be best friends?" Then the three of us go to George Clooney's house on Lake Como for the month.
Yeah, my dream is closer to yours. If both TB and I get divorced, and I have the choice between being Gisele's regular hook up or TB's best friend, I would choose TB in a heartbeat.
LA is full of beautiful women, and some of them would want to hook up with me. There are only so many former M football legends to hang out with.
A friend of mine lives in San Mateo and regularly sees TB's parents there with an occasional appearance by TB and wife. On his sons first coommunion he said that everybody suddenly got quiet and he was all impressed by the holiness of it, but TB and wife walked in and people were staring. So now I've ruined it for him, he'll never get privacy in church.
They're swingers, and they come over to visit, and you get the best of both worlds.
But for some reason this picture came to mind...
Please, slowly set down the spatula and step away from the batter.
Detailed? That's the Reader's Digest version. I didn't even get into how I tried to find out what church he goes to so I could have my son christened there.
That last paragraph may have moved you from day dreamer to stalker...
and I know, because I'm heading to Katsuya with the exact same plan today...
I'll admit I was one of those ppl. He never seemed to visit campus as much as the other alums did. And yet every michigan fan touted how great of a Michigan man he was. Granted he probably has a few more pressing engagements to deal with than visiting campus, but when was the last time before this he even came to visit? This visit and talk to the team makes me view him in a much more positive light tho.
What "other alums?" How do you know how often they visit in comparison to Brady? How do you know you're aware of every visit Brady has made to town? Do you think that it might have to do with the fact that many of the "other alums" are from Michigan, the Detroit area or northern Ohio, and are seeing family anyhow, while Brady's family is out in CA? Are all these "other alums" still playing in the NFL, with all the time demands that imposes? Has Tom Brady ever taken a verbal shot at Michigan? Do you think that Tom Brady needs to have Mr. Spot's Fedexed to him every Friday in order to maintain his Michigan Man bona fides?
were keeping him busy
Whenever I hang out with Brady and his wife we are typically having a little post-round light lunch at Pebble and telling amusing stories about Michael Jordan's golf game. It's rather hysterical!
between the idiots who say that Tom Brady doesn't like Michigan and the morans who say that Lloyd Carr was fired.
Also: those who maintain that Brady "backed up Drew Henson" when he was here.
Thats pretty awesome
get this pic sent to Rosen, the '15 qb recruit. Think that would change his mind from 0 interest to, "well...maybe I could take a look at that school"?
Rosen is from California which is not part of New England or Michigan so he most likely hates Tom Brady with a passion.
Being that he was Born in California, I should think that Mr. Brady should be able to related to another California born QB...
AFAIK all Californians are not related.
not related sorry bout the confusion....
But Tom Brady is also from California! That has to count for something...
Might be the sweetest picture on the internet.
Scrath that- this IS the sweetest picture on the internet.
Looking back at this... I thought Gardner was taller than Brady??
Pics or it didn't happen!
Eh, well, only a couple hours late for that one.
Does this mean MGoBlog is one step closer to using shirtless, gyrating Tom Brady gifs instead of Kate Upton on "Hello" posts?
Hail the hotties.
I love how specific this post is. Next time someone says, "I wish I was a fly on the wall during that discussion" I will say "but what if you're a fly with poor hearing? In that instance being a fly will do you little to no good." Which makes me wonder, why don't people ever say "I wish I was a human person who was invited to that discussion."?
The dude makes bets on Michigan with his teammates and coaches. Dude orders Mr. Spots for everyone when he's in town for a game. Dude just gave a speech to the players. Now the Dude needs to proclaim Blimpy Burgers a landmark and destroy those $100 tickets they are selling to eat Blimpy one last time. The Dude Brady is Michigan.
Said he wished they could have played Notre Dame tonight because the team was so sky high.... going to the Lions game tonight to root for Tom and Zoltan!
it's a whole new ballgame. Yeah, the truth is, Brady wasn't really recruited to Michigan, either, not until the 6-6 senior qb at Mateo High School sent a highlight reel of his games to Michigan put together by his dad. Before that, nobody took an interest in the kid, who was actually drafted as a catcher by the Montreal Expos.
When he started his first game at Michigan, there was more interest in seeing his understudy play ahead of him. As a high school All-American, and SI coverboy Drew Henson overshadowed Brady who had already waited his turn as a Michigan backup.
Many will claim otherwise, but Brady wasn't universally loved and certainly wasn't the pride of the program until late in his Michigan career, probably, not until his senior year and last game, a comeback win over Alabama in the Orange Bowl. Before that, things were different. And this was especially true after Michigan lost the first two games he started.
The Brady-Henson tandem was for Michigan fans back then, the ultimate quarterback controversy. In the end, of course, Brady showed the skill, the tenacity, the determination, and the will to outlast the competition and become the best quarterback ever in the NFL, the all-time winningest in postseason play.
Brady consumed film study as a college player. He spent more time watching film than teammates could ever recall anyone else. He always knew where everyone on the offense was supposed to be and he practiced like a demon, expecting the same from those who surrounded him. He was totally driven to be the best. And this was after he nearly left campus and threatened to quit and transfer playing behind a host of starters including the only quarterback to lead Michigan to a national title.
Despite his less than easy path to Michigan and throuhgh his years there, Brady has always credited that period of competiton, of proving himself over and over, as the process that made him the player he is now.
If you ever wanted a player to point as a Michigan man, and what it takes to succeed, Brady's story is the one you'd choose.
A. Giddy about a Tommy Brady sighting in A2.
3. Tommy Brady visit to A2 post deserves to hit triple digits in # of comments.
Wheel of Fortune!
Clue: Person, before and after(?)
And Brady is proud to be from Michigan. No matter what you have ever heard. And if you needed proof of this, here it is:
