So The Speculation Begins...

Submitted by brewandbluesaturdays on

So the speculation has begun. I am listening to Sean and Terp on ESPN 96.1 here on the west-side of the state and they are already going into Urban Meyer coming to Michigan...

Someone just make it stop...

So basically, after reading the press release essentially saying he quit because his health is probably deteriorating and his family demanded it, he's going to uproot them and take on a rebuilding project.

For the next 5ish years, this basic inequality will apply during coaching searches:

Urban Meyer speculation > OMG Gruden everywhere + OMG Stoops to ND + OMG Harbaugh to U of M - OMG Zook back to Florida*

*OMG Zook back to Florida = -2

that Jim Harbaugh is going to Florida as head coach, Rich Rod is going to Florida as co-offensive coordinator with Dan Mullens, and Jeff Casteel and Randy Shannon are going to Florida as co-defensive coordinators.

Denard is transferring to Florida, his first love,  and Dee Hart is decommitting from Michigan and committing to Florida.

Oh, and something about Jon Gruden.

Urban is so stressed it is affecting his health and is the reason he is retiring.  I'm more worried about UF looking for the best spread coach in the country and that is RR.

ND and Michigan are Urban's dream jobs, but I don't think he will be interested in coaching for at least 2 to 3 years.  He needs R&R and time with his family.

Sean and Terp are MSU slappies. They suck. Not as bad as HUGE, but close. Jesus Christ Grand Rapids needs a decent sports talk show. Whatever happened to people who knew what they were talking about?

Terp is actually a Michigan fan but never speaks up so he comes across as MSU-biased.  But yeah man, it's bad -- GR has a HORRIBLE radio market, not just sports.  It's really bad.  I usually resort to Chicago sports radio as my source -- much easier to listen to and they don't take shit so seriously.

GR's radio market, in general, is insanely bad for the size of the city. I'm sure these guys are throwing things at the wall to generate calls. Just adding a local angle to the big story of the day. Nobody could seriously think Meyer is coming (aside from their idiotic callers). Calvin McGee's supposed trip to Gainesville got a little more interesting, though. Forget the coach talk, I want recruit-poaching speculation!

UM to UofM would have to be the Most Ridiculous CC Speculation Ever... Of course, it will probably only hold that title for another hour or so.

Don' t kid yourself, Rich Rod is getting fed-up with the circumstances around here. Florida is already in play for Rich Rod.  Good job "Michigan Fans" you ignorant sons of b&%^%#. You could have been like Oregon if you only could have let this happen.  Florida will be happy to have Rich Rod, Denard and Dee.  Great job Dave,  F-ing this up.

If I were Rich Rod and I actually did have some chance at the Florida job (which may not be the case), and my recruits come from Florida, Dee suggests he'd like to go to Florida, and many Michigan fans were fed up with me, well, I'd have to at least field that call from Florida.  Absolutely.

I think most of us would rather fire Rich Rod on our terms, if he needs to get fired (which I don't think he will be...DB's decision though).  It's a little different feeling if Rich Rod actually does have other big job options and can stick it to us.  I always want what I can't have and suddenly it makes me want Rich Rod to stay more.

I'm sure everything will work out for the best, though.  Smart people are hopefully in charge and if not I have no other choice right now anyway.  Just going to sit tight and watch our bowl game and have fun.

Good to know somebody here has the inside track on RR's feelings of discontent, especially after his impassioned plea to be a Michigan Man took place just a few days ago. I don't want to be like Oregon. Gimmicky uniforms and Nike money are no substitute for history, tradition, and winning with character. I suppose you would rather have our guys stealing laptops and sucker punching opponents.

in play for Rodriguez. Dee goes with him, Denard most likely.  Coach Rodriguez is worn out dealing with a fan base that doesn't know football (not mgoblog community). He is at the end of his rope dealing with a fan base that doesn't want him, and really, mostly hurt by an AD he thought was behind him, but turns out to be a politician that is not.  None of this is speculation.

-1 each time you post these unsubstantiated statements.  I don't care if you're Mary Sue Coleman.  Don't throw statements out and hold yourself out to be in "the know" without first proving yourself.  This may be the greatest offense committable on this Board!

In fact, I'm going to go to the trouble and give you the rarely-used "negbang all past posts" where you hold yourself out to be more than a simply Board contributor.

I'm new here so perhaps I don't grasp the concept of a post.

I thought posts were jumping off points for discussion.  True, some are more relevant than others (anything that Tom posts being at the top of the list).

But it's a slow time of year - I can't get through a conversation with a fellow alum without the potential coaching change coming up.  So why not provide as many angles as possible to be discussed?  I wholeheartedly agree with the consolidation of identical topics but I believe there is a difference between identical and similar.

I also have found the discussion and ridicule of similar postings to be exclusionary and at this point a parody of itself.

Please set me straight where appropriate.
