So I got an email from Michigan Football

Submitted by BlueTuesday on

It seems the wheels are coming off in Ann Arbor. For a limited time only(until May 16th) and because I'm a former football ticket pack purchaser I've been invited to "be (in) one of the most exclusive groups in all of sports". For $100 donation I could get season football tickets in the endzone AND they'll waive the PSD.

Crappy schedule this year, I know. Nonetheless, I took the deal. I'm the very proud owner of 2 season tickets to Michigan football. I promise you, some of my greatest lifetime memories have come while I was inside Michigan Stadium.

Sorry, I don't know how to copy and paste the email to the board. Shoot me.

This deal was discussed on the board in detail. Now they are expanding it to prior season ticket holders. Not too surprising. The PSD is waived, regardless of this deal, for all first time season ticket buyers. So the only difference is the buy in donation, since prior season ticket holders have already donated a lot to the AD it makes sense for the AD to give them a discount. This is a nice opportunity for people looking to get season tickets cheap.

Yeah the team is down some and the schedule sucks! However, the team will be getting better and the future schedules have some quality teams coming to the Big House. BYU, Ore St, SMU, Ark, etc will be fun to watch. Enjoy them!

You don't have to explain your decision to anyone. Just make the most of every game no matter who the opponent is. Go Blue!

The argument about this hilarious! I see both sides of it but to questions people fandom because they don't have season tickets it's even more hilarious. I've had season tickets and I haven't had them. I will gladly continue to not have them. I pay way less throughout the year and still go to every game. Tickets are so easy to get and that's in years where the schedule and product on the field is good. When talking about this year if I pay more then $25 for most, if not all, games I will be furious. People will argue no way that will happen but I've been doing it for years!

The games will still be on TV right?  Thanks to Jim Delaney I have BTN on my television so I can see every game against every tomato can that ESPN and ABC would treat as ratings death.  This way I don't need to make the short walk down the street to the stadium AND I save thousands of dollars a year AND I don't have to put up with all the bullsh!t of the Wow Experience during the game.

Personally I love Jim Delaney for this reason.   I am selfish.

I think you hit on a big point.  It wasn't that long ago when a handful of games every year weren't on TV and you knew the only way to see the game was to be in the stadium.  Now most of those non-televised games were the 'crappy' opponents.  With BTN, every game is on TV.

Add in that for a lot of games the ticket price on the secondary market is substantially lower then the face value + PSD, and it's a lot cheaper to go to a few games a year then buy season tickets throug  the AD.

The band is great!  The team hitting the banner gets the juices flowing!  The first score.........as long as it is the team in blue shirts.  Hail to the Victors!

We will return to excellence in the very near future.  Book it Danno.

Why not take advantage if you can afford it?  This is a good opportunity.

Go Blue!

2014 just seems like a perfect storm for weaker than usual ticket sales for Michigan (but still would be the envy of all but a handful of other teams).  A mediocre season in 2013, a sucky schedule, increased prices the last several years, and a loss of population, jobs, and income for many in the state are all factors.

......On the first pass to the high level donors. Only the ND game sold out. All other away games are now being pushed down a tier from the 400 point level to the 175 point level. Each level can get an additional 4 tickets to Rutgers, NW, MSU, and OSU. If you think you have more than 175 points and did not receive the email, login to MGOBLUE.com and purchase them.

They should really think about actually offering those tickets to those of us lower down the point rung, instead of just offering more to the higher point total people.  Maybe if some of us see the benefits of the points, we'll be more likely to donate to the AD and move up.  For now, my family is going to keep donating to the School of Social Work instead of the AD.
