So I called the President's Office
do a hackjob on this poor kid, too?
As an MMB member, I definitely know some kids who were on this borderline, but MIchigan didn't send them letters of intent and then rescind.
What does being in the MMB have to do with anything? Really. Because, in my expereince in the MMB, I found my peers to be some pretty, pretty smart people...
take a joke, dude. just try it.
I wasn't under the impression that we recruited specific kids to the MMB. I thought that everybody was given a shot during summer orientation to try out, and that most MMBs are actually engineers and not actual music majors.
So... I'm not sure why you want to turn this joke into a SRS discussion, but I'm more than willing to go along with it.
and he had signed it, I might actually take you seriously.
of a horrible, inapplicable analogy.
Can't help rebuild after last weekend's storm. I'm too busy studying every FBS roster so I can lay down some serious coin on the performance of amateur student/athletes this fall. I just wish there was a blog I could read to help me out with this . . . .
is Michigan looking only at his past and declaring him a campus risk? Does Michigan declare him a severe enough threat not to admit him in? There's a tool for issues called "counseling" and it’s available to everyone. Which I'm sure he has gone through and made significant improvements.
I have some anytime minutes that can be put to good use now.
"OH LET's DO IT"
I think Tommy Boy said it best....."Forget it, I quit, I can't do this anymore, man. My head's about to explode. My whole life sucks. I don't know what I'm doing... I don't know where I'm going.
My dad just died. We just shafted a recruit. We just killed Bambi. I'm out here getting my ass kicked and every time I drive down the road. I wanna jerk the wheel INTO A GODDAMNED BRIDGE EMBANKMENT."
I just called Bitsy Ritt. We had a long conversation about the whole "DD" issue but I have come to the conclusion that this entire sitauation could have just been avoided.
There was probably a lot of pressure within the University by the ani-RR crowd. Other players were admitted under Bo, Mo and LC who had similar ACT scores and GPA's. This was definitely a decisions made by the University not to accept this kid due to the the initial bad press he received. But we will never know, unless someone on the inside is willing to spill the beans.
The admissions office is doing their job, and to think they are messing with things to get coach Rod out is absurd. I am sure he was judged by the exact same criteria every other student-athlete has been put through.
The kid did not qualify for one reason or another. Chances are if you keep digging you will only embarrass him.
I too wished he was coming to play for the maize and blue, the kid looks amazing and has a nose for the ball. We needed him bad and it sucks that he won't be coming.
You should not be getting negged for saying this. I don't understand some people.
yeah, especially in light of new information.
calling the administration might be a waste of time if you think they'll admit Dorsey based on a phone call, but i would and will do it anyway, and here is why.
the entire perception of Michigan football is a joke right now. its sad, because the only people that i truly believe want to see Michigan succeed is the players and coaches. it seems like nobody is doing their job right, top to bottom. this inferiority complex that we've seen from blue bloods for years is laughable and makes me sick. we're Michigan, so we're this and this. all the while, just about every other respectable cfb program is out managing, out playing, and pummling Michigan in every way possible. every time i read a story like this i ask myself, when is it going to end? just found out Michigan isnt even top 20 in winning percentage this decade. i couldnt believe my eyes when i read that.
no, i do not want Jim Harbaugh. no, i do not want a Lloyd Carr picked football coach. what i want, whether Rich Rodriguez stays or goes, is Bo Schembechler's philosophy in building football teams and young men to permeate thoroughout this program once again. the thing about Rich Rodriguez that's made me most happy is that we've seen many parallels between him and Bo himself. all that's missing is experience and the necessary talent to compete with the best in the country. that can and will come with a fully functioning football program that's behind their football coach. we haven't seen that since day 1.
im proud to know the players are earning it every day in pratice, in the weight room, on the field, and in the classroom. im proud to know our players dont carry an air of entitlement everywhere they go, that is the old Michigan. im happy to know our players are playing for the guy next to them. it makes me furious to know these kids deserve a lot better from the people at the top that arent doing their fucking jobs.
what does this have to do with Dorsey? his situation is just another massive blow to the program because of the sheer imcompetence of what was once thought of as one of the most heralded and respected programs in the history of college football. if you have a problem with this post i apologize, i needed to vent. before you throw RR's records in my face, consider the utter choke job that Michigan did so many years with so much more talent.
so call them gentlemen. call them and let them know that you want the administration to be as accountable and start working as hard as the 18-23 year olds on the Michigan football team.
i hope Dorsey gets a college degree and is drafted top 5 in the NFL in 4 years. prove them wrong Dorsey, prove them wrong.
this is the first intelligent post in this entire thread.
you are right. we're not fighting for demar any more. that ship has sailed. there's nothing we can do. no. instead we are fighting for principles. we're fighting for the life of our program. we're fighting against the old guard which is so averse to change, that they obstinately stand in the way of inevitable progress. we are fighting against hack reporters who think they can influence a fanbase, an institution, and a way of life based on their own personal whims and prejudices. we are fighting for the demar dorseys of tomorrow - talented young men and women who might have had a difficult past, but have the desire to slay their demons and forge a strong future for themselves. but most importantly, we are fighting for the future of our program.
if that's not something worth fighting for, then im not sure what, as a community, we would fight for.
that's why you should call/email/raise a ruckus. so that things like this don't happen again.
I'm shocked at how many people upvoted this thread. I'm sorry, but this is going too far.
