So How Is Your Hangover

Submitted by xtramelanin on

Mates,

Good Sunday morning to you all.  Avoided the board yesterday, and particularly last night (would you watch the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald over, and over, and over), but took a peek this morning.  Many healthy responses to yesterday's game, but I'm sure it took a while for many to shrug it off.  Be assured that the team will shrug it off and that Minnesota will be the victim of controlled, aggressive fury in two weeks.   Bad news for the Gophers.

Here's to hoping you too can shrug off your hangover, both by substance abuse and emotional overload.  Remember, its football not life, and anybody that is anything other than gracious to you about the game, you will know they didn't even get picked to play kick-ball in 3rd grade and they've never gotten over it.

Arise.  It's fall in Michigan.   It will be gloriously sunny the next couple of days.  If you come up north we'll treat you to peak fall colors.  Hunt, go visit a cider mill, go for a hike with your kids/spouse, enjoy.   Our team will be just fine, and so will you.

Woke up with the play running through my head, stomach churning through the beer and four bowls of comfort cheerios I ate before bed.  I started to post to mgoblog on my phone when my three children (7,5,3) climbed into bed with me to cuddle.  The sun will rise again.

I'm not watching any more this season. Only heartache and grief await if UM loses another game before PSU on the road in a month...and I can't see a scenario where the risk/reward ratio is great enough to go through something like that again this year. If they win, I'll watch the replays on Sunday.

Cannot continue to care about this as much as I do. I may have to seek out counseling over what happened yesterday. It is not a healthy part of my life anymore.

I woke up at 2:45 couldn't fall back asleep for nearly two hours. The botched punt and emotional heartbreaker was looping through my head. I truly was mentally ill for a few hours.

I am looking forward to next year's game and I want that to be a route. I know it is a long year, but hey I get to look forward to a few more games, OSU, New Year Bowl, recruiting, M basketball, Red's last year, graduation, Christmas and Summer. Before we know it, we will be talking next year's game with a QB coached by Harbaugh for more than a year. I am over this game and looking forward to all the wonderful things that is yet to come. Go Blue!

My sobriety date is February 1, 2007. Grateful I have no hangover and have the opportunity to hang out with my 1year old daughter while my wife works her shift at the hospital today. Looking forward to a likely worst case 8-4 season (possibly as good as 10-2) with a respectable bowl game in Year One of Harbaugh--something I told myself in September that I'd be very content with. Looking at it the right way, the team has already raised the floor on my expectations back to what a "normal" Michigan team should look like. Year Two and Year Three will be about shifting that window of expectations up by another 1-2 games.

I wanted to drown my sorrows last night, but decided to just go to bed early (I am also sleep deprived from my 9 month old son.) Someone commented last evening that they wanted to go hide in a closet for 364 days and that sounded oddly comforting to me. Our team played their hearts out and did everything necessary to win the game, until, obviously... I love this team and love Blake O'Neill and can't wait to see them compete again in 2 weeks.

back in the day, the way to get rid of a hangover was to have a cold mountain dew and then go to steve's lunch (now a korean place?) for a chili and cheese omlet.   if you've never had one, treat yourself to one today.

go blue.

I woke up and for a split second couldn't remember what we saw last night, like it didn't happen. Then I went the interwebs, it appeared to be real, and I relived it over and over and continue to do so. Those 10 seconds completely reversed an entire fan base's long-term memory.

The bye week is well placed this year. Heal Drake a bit, give time to avoid a hangover with Minny. I appreciate how Harbaugh is reacting to adversity. He will lead this team. Win out and all of you who don't live in Michigan will have this as a distant memory. I'll go to my office on Monday and do all I can not to bludgeon the idiot Sparties. Win out and beat Ohio State. I'll be happy about the year.

Honestly I came up to visit U of M this weekend and after the day long of tailgating and seeing the play that we will never speak of again I just couldn't bring myself to go out last night. Therefore, I'm pretty ok. Just sad

Not good. I spent a good hour on twitter at 4 am reporting assholes who sent death threats to Blake. Woke up at 9 and saw a few of them had their accounts deleted by twitter.

Woke up early and took a few ibuprofen and chugged water, feeling pretty good. Btw, I highly recommend this method if you know you will be hung over and absolutely can't afford to be. Set your alarm 3-4 hours before you need to wake up, take a bunch of ibu and chug a water bottle, and go back to sleep.

Oddly enough, I was in so much shock after that ending that I actually stopped drinking for the day. I just wandered around the house doing some chores for hours and then went to bed.
