So how about some Illinois talk?

Illinois Injury Report:

Player   Injury Status/Updated Notes
Jarred Fayson WR Leg Prob Sat - 11/3/10 Fayson is recovering from a leg injury but is expected to play Saturday against Michigan.
Jason Ford RB Ankle Prob Sat - 11/1/10 Ford missed last game against Purdue due to an ankle injury but has been upgraded to probable for Saturday's game against Michigan.
Steve Hull WR Ankle Prob Sat - 11/4/10 Hull missed last game against Purdue due to an ankle injury but expects to play Saturday against Michigan.
Russell Ellington LB Shoulder Ques Sat - 10/31/10 Ellington missed last game against Purdue due to a shoulder injury and remains questionable for Saturday's game against Michigan.
Corey Lewis OL Knee out for season - 9/3/10 Lewis will miss the entire 2010 season after tearing his ACL in a spring game.
Supo Sanni DB Achilles out for season - 9/1/10 Sanni will miss the entire 2010 season after rupturing his right Achilles tendon.

So there you go.  Let's talk Illinois. Illinois has a tough defense but their passing offense is one of the worst in the nation.  Now our defense can certainly make anyone look good, but our team has a tendency to rotate on/off games.  I think this game is at least competitive with Illinois winning 31-28 due to some missed opportunities on offense.

Thread rules: no talk about NCAA rulings, Rodriguez's job security, or who should replace GERG.

Fayson ate up the OSU secondary all day.  It was really frustrating.  The announcers even brought up that Fayson "has a NC ring from the 2006 game against Ohio State".  It was a real kick in the dong.  Yeah, expect to hear his name frequently and brace yourself emotionally (a cup for your soul dong?).

Would really enjoy seeing Shaw in there. However, since the offense is fine for the most part, I wonder what the defensive plan is for this game. Will guys be put back at their positions pre-Penn State game since that obviously didn't work? Will we see more Thomas Gordon than Cam since he can, you know, tackle? Should be very interesting to see what happens, but all logic goes out the window once the ball is kicked Saturday. Then we all go back to believing our defense can actually do something productive. Pray to whoever you must that it does.

And Yeah Cam Gordon leads the teams in interceptions, so maybe leave him further away from the line of scrimmage and put Thomas Gordon, who has been a more sound tackler up closer to the line. Whatever works. Sorry if I offended you, I was just wondering what the game plan might be.

... but we're talking about a sport. Nobody's criticizing the 18-year-old person. If he can't handle being praised for good athletic performances and criticized for negative ones, he shouldn't be playing.

I just think it's a little ridiculous that we can't rightfully point out positives and negatives of the players. When did this become tee-ball?

anything can happen in college football.  It would be nice to see some turnovers go our way, especially early to shake up their quarterback.  If Martin is really healthy, we can slow the run down and get a win so everyone can relax.

You want Illinois talk, here is some subjective bitching why we can't lose:

My sister married a complete Chode who is 10 years older than she is - he is 39 years old and wears sunglasses inside, in the winter, at baby-showers.  He wears a blue-tooth 24/7 to make sure you know how important he is... and has "work" calls at 2pm on Sunday as he paces in the house while there is a party going on just so everyone sees and hears his "urgent importance."

He tells everyone he "went to Illinois."  In reality, he went for two years, drank too much (like most of us) but couldn't get the grades and Daddy made him transfer.  He graduated from Northern Illinois.  To this day  (@17 years later) he still lies to peoples' faces (including my friends on 3 occasions) and volunteers that he "went to Illinois."  When confronted with his attempt to manipulate "his resume" he responded, "Hey, I never lied, I went there for 2 years."

Anywho.... I hate him.  I do not like Illinois because they are Big 10 foes.  I hate Illinois because of him.

We have lost 2 in a row to his "alma mater."  He reminds me of this when I have to see him at my parents' house.

As a bonus, we are sharing a ride with my sister (a UM alum) and this Chode to-and-from the game on Saturday.

If we lose stabbing myself in the eyeball so I can go to the hospital and not have to share a ride with him.

How's that for Illinois talk?

And while we're at it, wtf is a Chode?

EDIT:  ok, I Googled, and the resutls on Urban Dictionary are substantially hilarious.  I would say my favorite part is the auto-generated link to purchase chode mugs, t-shirts, and magnets.  A chode mug or magnet may be the ultimate stocking stuffer this Xmas.

A penis wider than it is long
My boyfriend wanted a hand-job but i couldn't get a good grip because he had a chode.

I don't know where most of you got your fucking definitions for this word, but the Chode has nothing to do with a short or fat penis. It is a synonym of "taint" and "gooch". It is the area between your sac and your asshole. Why would you create a definition for something that doesn't exist, you morons?
"Last night, you mom tongued my chode."

It's #3.  It's basically a Douche who tries everything in his power to prove his worth and coolness without any social understanding of how much of a Jack-ass he makes of himself.

My definition of a Chode is the kind of guy that does the following:

-Wears sunglasses inside; the Blue-Tooth-of-Importance; Orders a round for everyone in the group with his credit card even though his credit card is almost maxed out; Leases a BMW but tells everyone he owns it;  Was "Next to Make Partner" in each of the last three jobs he has had; Wears White pants;  Doesn't button the top two buttons of his shirt while wearing White Pants (at my daughter's 2nd birthday party - while wearing sunglasses and the Blue-Tooth); Wears plaid (sp?) shorts because he saw "the kids" wearing them on the new 90210; Lies about where he graduated to make himself look more important

And, yes, I appreciate the risk I'm taking of being a Chode (as to definition #1) by having this discussion.

English is a second language.

They accept American currency.

Still a third world country.

One of worst fan bases -second only to OSU.

Bad teeth.

Have indoor bathrooms...

(Will hook them up to water and sewers within next ten years.)

Any questions?

UM's defense puts up some serious yards.  The last three games the UM defene averaged more yards than the UM offense.   Drob would win three Heisman's this year if he could play against UM's D.

Yeah, that went so badly for him at Penn State.  He completed only 15 passes out of a whole 19 attempts, and Illinois only won by 20 points.

I'm not abandoning hope or anything, but I think the big stadium magic isn't really going to work on him at this point.

Their passing offense may not be the best but A.J. Jenkins is someone we need to be careful of. Sure Leshoure, Ford, and Pollard will get their touches but Jenkins is the type of receiver that will give Michigan fans like us all headaches.

After reflecting on my current emotional well being and the affect that "Michigan Football" is having on my, I have decided it is in my best interests to no longer view live games, but rather DVR them and depending on the outcome, watch the mayhem leading to victory in a more placid and therapeutic mindset, whereby avoiding all stress and negative consequences to my mental and emotional well being.

If this seems in anyway abnormal, it is due to an inseparable tie between my emotions and michigan football, and three years of this is more than I can take.

I almost picked Illinois in the two online pick 'ems I play each week. But I just. Couldn't. Do it. I have never picked against Michigan. And I never will, damn it.

I believe our Offense can score and run on anyone so I am not concerned about Illinois defense.  I am worried that we will beat ourselves on Offense...Turnovers/Mistakes.  If our D comes up with a few stops here and there and our O is on top of its game than watch out.

I find it amazing to see that we are outgaining them offensively by approximately 130 yards over the last three games, but they are averaging almost 6 points per game more than us.  That goes to show how efficient Illinois has been on both sides of the ball lately.

Yeah, I haven't watched any Illinois games but I can only assume that it's their defense that is creating turnovers or their special teams giving the offense a short field to work with.  Either way, the Points/Yard stat over the last 3 games for Illinois is impressive.

From what i've seen from Illinois this year they are quite good at running the read option. I don't think Michigan has faced an offense like this so far this year, I know ND runs the spread but it's much more of a passing spread O. With Martin healthy in the middle I think we have a good shot at disrupting the run, Rich would kill to have a back like Leshoure  with Denard.

As we've seen, Michigan defense tends to make unimpressive QBs look All-American. Add in a Royster-caliber RB and we'll all be biting our nails and pounding tables and sofa arms with our fists all Saturday afternoon.

Home field argument has some validity as our worst showing this year was in hostile PSU, but also has no validity as we've played just as bad defense at home and connected on clutch offense drives at ND and Indiana.

Hoping for a flawless Michigan offense and some sort of divine intervention for turnovers and field goals.

Illinois is like MSU, because when their football team is good, they love to talk, but when their football team sucks, they just say they're a basketball school.

And every Illinois fans thinks that we are BIG rivals, which I find rather amusing because despite these past two years, we typically beat up on them.

At the Penn State game i turned to the Michigan fan sitting next to me in the Michigan section and said, "if we get 5 stops on D we will win".  We got 2 and lost. 2...wow...only 2.  So i think im going to say this week if we get 4 we will win.  Its a good thing I dont have to count very high when Im drunk, cause I will be counting and praying for those stops.

to see Michigan ranked #89 in terms of defense giving up points (30), I would have guessed we were worse than that.............giving up yards is bad, but the points aren't as bad as I would have thought.

I think this game will be close in terms of yardage on both sides and the score is within one posession.............hopefully MI can pull this one out.

Illinois run defense if pretty stout, so praying for a blizzard probably wont help.  We're going to get rolled.
