Defense showed up today!

I saw them on the field, they were there- I have over a million witnesses that saw this too. I think there were about 11 of them on the field at one time- white uniforms I think

Our corners are dissapointing, they allowed inside release all night long. I don't understand what Manning is teaching these kids in practice. Nova didn't have to make the tough throws because ALL of the easy throws were there.

who has had a recent history of throwing lots of picks or having a bad completion percentage or just not being very good at football and all the Michigan fans are going LOL we'll have no trouble with this guy and then he does a passable imitation of Peyton Manning on us.

Either we have the most overrated defensive recruiting in Michigan history or our coaches aren't very good at coaching.

I agree that it doesn't seem to be working this season, but Hackenburg went 23/44 for 300+ yds and 3 tds against us last year as a pure freshman, and Manning wasn't coaching DBs last year.

It seems like it doesn't matter who we face—the opposing QB goes apeshit on us.

Can we stop, or even slow down, any passing team?  Michigan has gotten torched all year.  And the blitzes are ineffective -- they get picked up or the guys are too slow to get to the QB.  Man, that defense was just porous.  3rd and long was practically a certain 1st down pick-up.

Bolden is a liability anytime its not run right at him. Hes a big liability. Countess doesnt belong. Wilson fucked up time and time again.

Defense has been bad all year despite some decent stats.  Our D got dominated vs Utah and ND despite the fact that we held them to few yards.  476 yards brings us back closer to what we are, a top 30, not a top 10 defense.

Unable to get off the field in key situations, allowing 3rd and longs, missed tackles. Sacks that lead to TDs. Mattison, the honeymoon is over.

I want Mattison fired today. He's that a**hole that claims success because of the work of others.

His main claim to success was after rayan left and he took control of the ravens d.

Sure he coached Ray Lewis, but that was after Lewis was awesome. Mattison had nothing to do with that.

when they brought pressure, there was no coverage.   This defense doesn't have the strength, speed or agility to force turnovers.  This team reminds me of RR's first year here.

S&C program is useless.  Just like so many of Carr's team, no team speed. Patheic.  Kids try hard, just not talented enough or horribly coached.  At this point it's hard to tell.

It's hard for me to absolve the S&C of partial responsibility for the team's situation when in game after game our opponents look quicker, faster, and stronger. How can a DL corps comprised of so many highly-touted recruits be so consistently ineffective at getting to the QB? How can a OL corps comprised of so many highly-touted recruits be so consistently ineffective at opening holes and protecting our QB? How can so many highly-touted DBs be so consistently outrun in pass coverage? What are they putting in our water? It's bizarre.

Gary Nova: 22/39 for 404 yards, 3 TDs, and 0 INT. What's the O/U on passing yards for Hackenberg next week? I'll put it at 350 because it's a home game for us, and I'll take the over.

You better get there...I'm talking about you, Frank Clark. Wow. Countess was burnt toast most of the game. 3 guys near a receiver, but nobody close enough to defend. Frustrating. If there was a "close, but no cigar" award, these guys would be the winners. They new Carroo was the danger man, but no one could consistenty cover him. One receiver is all it takes to screw these guys up. Just like the offense. No one can make a play when it counts. Close..but no cigar.

How did Frank Clark not beat the QB down when he had him for a sack at the end of the second half??  Frank fails and Rutgers gets 7.

The guys just don't make the plays when we need him.  Frank Clark, Countess and more.

We see a few spurts or good plays, but they don't make the big play when its needed or on a consistance basis.

Frank got punked by a QB  - &@#$&^%$#

What makes it worse is that the times we were in position we blew the fucking tackle. Biggest example of this, for me, is the play Rutgers scored a TD on right before halftime. We had a blitzer get through clean and he is on top of Nova but he gets deked then TD.

before the half is what cost us the game, they drove it right fricken down like EVERY team does against us right before the half. It's happened so much during the Hoke/Mattison tenure. Last year vs MSU, same thing, they score before the half. Last night, they score right before the half. This entire team is so poorly coached. If anybody with some competence comes in next season, we could see a quick turnaround.

point, next week, put stribling in vs PSU, yeah, he messed up last year vs them, but I thought he looked decent other than mis-timing jumps. countess looks just like he did last year vs KSU. what happened to the linebacker depth? why can't gedeon get on the field? why don't we try moving jake ryan around sometimes and let someone else float in the middle? ondre pipkens? is he getting a redshirt?

JMFR in the middle.  Sure, he gets tackles there, but is no longer the disruptive force in the opponent's backfield that he has proven to be on the outside.  Other than Frank Clark (who has trouble making tackles when he does get thru), nobody has shown any consistant ability to disrupt and destroy to bust up drives.
