Snowflake Thread: Coaching

Submitted by Black Socks on

Up 7 to uber conservative offense - to delay of game - to punt - to horrendous pooch - to allowing three consecutive bombs.  I am a sunshine blower but that is the worst game management I've ever seen.

is what he is, and most of us know that he is, well, a REALLY NICE GUY. Every now and then it's going to come down to him, and we will all be crossing our fingers. He muffed that game, no two ways about it.

If I see another fitz up the middle call in OT my head will fucking explode. Borges was horrendous in OT. Just utter shit. There was a 78 year old lady next to me calling the up-the-middle calls in advance. Our coaches, all of them, get a D minus.

News to me. What I saw tonight was closer to a homeless orgy except none of them did anything and just looked at their balls for four and a half hours.

It's completely on the coaches. Horrible clock management at the end of the game. Horrible play calls throughout the game. I mean Fitz had TWENTY SEVEN carries, for TWENTY SEVEN YARDS. STOP FUCKING RUNNING THE BALL ITS NOT WORKING.

And we dont play to win the fucking game. Conservative conservative conservative. Oh, and your 6'5" 240 lb WR who happened to have two TDs, was not targeted ONCE in any of the FOUR overtimes. Fucking ridiculous.

Of the game while traveling for a wedding. I caught the last 5 min of regulation and all of overtime. I think I'm gonna drink now after watching that.

Seriously, I think hoke needs to have his team be more aggressive. They played with no balls and deserved to lose.

Sadly, they would have gotten away with this lack of balls if Gibbons didn't decide to miss (or throw the game).

Sadly I'm starting to think that Hoke is like RR in one awful regard.  His assistants are HIS ASSISTANTS no matter what they do or how they perform.  Unlike our basketball coach who had the balls to take out underperforming assistants and replace them with better talent our football coach is loyal to HIS GUYS and wont make a move.

This is completely on the players.  We don't have a guard on this football team right now and THAT'S why we can't run the football.  That rushing performance was EMBARRASSING!!!!  With Lewan hurt we have 2, maybe 2 1/4 if your being nice to Kalis. We couldn't run worth S#*T!!!  On top of all that Devin Gardner over came a horrendous 1st half performance to put us in a position to win that football game only to have the defense give up 80 yards in about 50 F#@&ING SECONDS to allow a FRESHMAN to tie the game!!!  Then apparently we can't kick a field goal to save our lives!!!  Then on 4th and 1 for the win we can't get a stop!!!! We can't run, we can't kick, we can't win on the road and there goes the B1G Title hopes cause there is no way this team goes on the road to beat Sparty and we have a snowball's chance in Hell to beat NW and I wouldn't get your hopes up about Ohio either.

West Coast Offense - the offensive system popularized by Bill Walsh characterized by short, horizontal passing routes in lieu of running plays to "stretch out" defenses, opening up the potential for long runs or long passes."

Gorgeous Al is a West Coast offense guru.  I am sorry, but the Michigan offense does not in the least resemble this philosophy.  We run the ball up the gut with no success and then out of despiration, pass the ball downfield to make up for horrible down and distance scenarios.

Our coaches are not doing their collective jobs.  The design and timing of our play calling (All on Al), has to be the worst in the country.  I bet you the MSU coaches watch tape of our games as they prepare to play us and just laugh their asses off on what a dumb fuck Al is.

The last part of the 4th quarter and almost the entirety of OT was not coached well. I'm sure the coaches will take the blame for as much as they can.

But what do the coaches adjust going forward? Do they scrap the power? The offense looked quite good in the second half after almost wholly abandoning it.

I'm intrigued.

There isn't an excuse for what happened tonight.  There literally is just not one single excuse for this coaching staff doing what they did.

Hey, look on the bright side of life. The MGoBlog upgrade may have killed the moderation system, but at least the server upgrades have kept the website up for all of us to vent our rage. If this had happened last season the web site would have died at the end of the 4th quarter.

I still can't figure out what the look on Hoke's face was during OT.  I think he knew they screwed up.  The coaching staff totally pissed their pants tonight.

However, we should have never been in a position to have that happen.  ALL of the problems start with our offensive line.

We can't run the ball and we're constantly in obvious passing situations or bad down and distance.  This constantly puts all the pressure on DG.  He is making mistakes and then he's forcing things.  Some of the turnovers just happen - that's the nature of the game, but the excess TO's can be avoided with DG getting help.  These turnovers and inconsistent drives put extra pressure on the defense.   We end up giving up points that we normally wouldn't.  We tire out defense out with extra snaps.  When combined with average at best D-line and soft coverage, we have a recipe for doom.

As bad as the game management was, fixing the O-line situation has to be priority number 1.  /sigh....

I don't want Hoke fired, but he's partially responsible. Wear a headset. Yell at a guy with a headset. Instruct Borges to be aggressive. Enough is enough. If you're not going to fire him, override him. Borges tucked his man parts between his legs and called like a coward, with an offense actually looking productive in the second half. If you're not going to fire Borges, at least take responsibility and be in his ear.
