If you want a team to score less then coach some defense!! Empathy has no place on a football field. Some stories pull my heart strings, but why should we tell our thirds, who bust their tails, to go easy on someone! Let them play, and play to win!

All Michigan was doing in the second half was running the ball up the middle. That is a coach's way of saying "here is the ball, come tackle it" and Rutgers couldn't stop the most basic play in football. I thought Harbaugh was tring to make it easy on them., Their players clearly quit in the second half and that is on their team and their coaches.

Hard to complain after this beating, but Speight has to play better.  This is a 2 loss team unless he improves.

O'Korn is not good. Nor is John better than Speight. If the competition were even close O'Korn would see meaningful snaps, but he never does. I knew the second O'Korn threw that to, a ball that anyone in the stands could've thrown, that idiots on this blog were gonna clamor for O'Korn to start.

At the beginning of the game the weather was much worse than it was at the end. Speight started poorly, but much of that was weather. I agree that Wilton must get better (much better) if we hope to compete in Columbus. The bye week was huge for Rudock last year, hoping the same holds true for Speight this year. Also keep in mind tonight was Speights 6th start in his career.

weather for a QB's.did anyone really think he  would be lights out as a first year starter? one of speights biggest problem is holding on to the ball too long. coaches pick starters for many reasons, leadership, knowledge of the play book, etc etc. its possible the other QB's make worse catastrophic mistakes like TO's in practice and maybe Harbaugh's thinking is speight is less likely to lose a game than he is capable of wiining games for you? i was impressed with speight last year against minnesota, and still think he's your best option. he has a strong arm, big and is almost a look alike of a young harbaugh, back in the day.

     i think the um coaching staff's strategy is to play solid defense and not turning the ball over. osu is probably still more talented but anything can happen game to game in football. i still think um is a better match up for osu than say a indiana, msu or wisconsin. next week @ madison i think will be close till the 2nd half, then i think osu pulls away. i just don't think their offense will do very well against our D. especially if they run on every 1st & 2nd down like they did against you guys in aa. being at home they may decide to go for broke and open up the offense. i think even the most ardent um fan can agree that they were over the top conservative in their playcalling which doesn't help an overmatched QB vs um's D. good luck the rest of the way and here's hoping both TOSU and um are both undefeated coming into the "Game", which we may just have another #1 vs #2 again in cbus. all i can say is i'm glad this years game is in cbus.

Agreed. This is not the Speight we're looking for.And we're not going to run like we did today for the rest of the season, and certainly not in The Game.

That said, at this time last year we were routinely referencing "Sad Ghost" Jake Rudock, so there's hope.

Unlike our earlier blowouts, all the points were generated by the offense. There were no defensive or special teams points (one short field off of the fumble). Also most of the points were scored by the backups. Also, poor damn Chris Evans. Got to the 2 twice and got vultured by Hill both times.

Get that knee tuned up. We'll need him to be healthy for the second half of the season. Otherwise, our second a third string offense can score against Rutgers with ease.

game due to the competition, but I am starting to feel more confident about our running game. There were some nice running lanes and backs making good cuts and running with power. There might have been five backs that had better games tonight than Smith, our starter.

last year after fumbling the ball. But Smith is a great blocker, so I'm sure he will be get his share of carries. I forgot how tall Issac is, he even looked a lot taller tonight.

It's too bad UM got called for a block in the back on Pepper's punt return TD. That was an incredible return and would have replayed hundreds of times over the next few weeks and really have helped his Heisman chances.
Guess he'll just have to do it a few more times.

speight = flacco.

throws a nice deep ball, wont do anything flashy, manages the game, and generally makes good decisions. with this defense we can win with him.
