T-swift.
Don't judge me.

I feel like that song describes WD's life perfectly.
What are we going to do about you, we worry so much...

i only barely know who 'T-swift' is, and have no clue who smith and morrissey are. we didn't have electricity when i was a kid, in fact, neither the light bulb nor the stratocaster had been invented yet. did i ever tell you about the time my pet t-rex got out of the yard....?
Rachmaninoff. Anything composed after Mahler is shit, and you should stop listening to it.
I don't know how I hadn't heard this story before, but just this week I was reading about Hurt (specifically the video for it), the NIN cover Johnny Cash released as his last single.
He and June Carter are in their long-time house in the video; she dies three months after it's filmed, he dies another three months after that and their house eventually burned down. Sad to the point of asking what the odds of that happening could have possibly been.
Also this (h/t genius.com).
In true Rob Gordon fashion I'm reading Johnny Cash's autobiography... fascinating guy. All of his American albums are great.
I've had Bob Dylan's Chronicles: Volume One sitting on the figurative nightstand forever and haven't had the time and desire to read it at the same time. Have you (or anyone else) read that as well?
Have not, but sounds like a great read.
I'd really like to find a good Jimi Hendrix bio...and coincidentally I have yet to read the Morrissety autobiography which I hear is good.
Edit: Speaking of Dylan, Blood on the Tracks is absolutely crushing. Great album.
I'll have to motivate myself soon, he's my favorite musician of all time...a true original.
Also, to go in another direction: Eminem's Stan. Maybe a little more psychotic than some of the other mentions, but damn that song hits home.
Yep...that's still probably his best song.
I've read Moz's autobiography. It is very entertaining and weird. Morrissey seemingly is intent on burning every last bridge that he has. He seems like a very nasty individual.
I've read it and I highly recommend it. Dylan moved to NYC with basically just his guitar in his early twenties and become an icon. The story is fascinating. Very cool portrayal of NYC during that time but also insight into the mind of a true genius. Listen to every word and note of Blood on the Tracks or Highway 69 Revisited.
Has to be one of the greatest covers ever done. And Johnny's version (+ the Vid) is haunting. Love me some Mr. Cash and his musical genius aged well.
The link in my first comment, "Hurt: That Time When Johnny Cash Stole Trent Reznor’s Best Song" is definitely worth taking a look at if you've got five minutes.
Basically saying that while Cash has an advantage from the start (the video isn't something anyone else could have made, plus as the listener we know it's Johnny Cash) he truly transformed the meaning and depth of a song originally written by a 29 year old in a dark place to encompass seven decades of regret.
I'm so sorry...but this thread sickens me
Hi irony, is that sarcasm with you?
That joke apparently isn't funny anymore. (to some)
LOL, that this somehow got downvoted by supposed Morrissey fans.
Does it make you want to turn your back and gag?
I prefer Marr to Moz, have seen him twice in concert. Wizard with the guitar.
Marr did an excellent How Soon Is Now and There Is a Light . . . live. Also did a really nice Getting Away With It, from his Electronic gig with Bernard Sumner.
His version of Getting Away With It is awesome. Great song.
Only two more weeks til I move from Nebraska to Ann Arbor.
Spent 6 years in Lincoln and grew up in Michigan. Here's a hint: cancel the return tickets!! Enjoy A2 and all MEEECHIGAN has for you.
Cherry Tree is absolutely amazing. Every song on there is brilliant, but it doesn't have Fake Empire or Slow Show, which is why I went with Boxer.
Also, are you in PDX, or elsewhere in Oregon?
it's adele or some of the really emo lana del rey songs...like the one from great gatsby
Honestly, this entire album is amazing, but this song in particular has always managed to get me back on my feet when i'm down.
Also second Taylor Swift
ann arbor home product right there
Whoever downvoted you can fuck right off. RIP Ian Curtis.
And New Order were pretty great as well.
