Slippery Rock Weekly Update
Slippery Rock came out and had another dominant performance, beating Shippensburg 58-38 in their home opener, improving to 2-0 on the season. Senior QB Nigel Barksdale had a great game, throwing for over 300 yards with 4 TDs.
Last season, Shippensburg won the division, and beat Slippery Rock 55-35.
Interesting info for the season: Slippery Rock is averaging 594 yards of offense per game this season.
"Before the game, Slippery Rock honored the late Zach Sheridan, a linebacker on the team who was shot and killed this summer. The moment of silence that included head coach Dr. George Mihilak embracing the Sheridan family fed the white-out crowd an extra dose of energy.
The Rock did not disappoint as running back Shamar Greene broke loose for a 61-yard touchdown run on the second play from scrimmage. Mihilak’s team kept the momentum going all night long."

Also man I've missed these posts that get the "OT" argument right away.

Granted, Slippery Rock is not an FBS team, but the only FBS teams averaging more than 594 yards of offense per game right now are Baylor, Oregon, Texas A&M and Washington, so there is this at least. I just think that's an interesting factoid even if it isn't really to be used for comparison purposes (nor should it be).

Thank God that due to our odd relationship with this university we'll never have to play them. I fear what this team could do to us.

My son has them on his interest list soley because of the Michigan history. He hopes to play college sports and D2 is probably his maximum potential because of size.

They need a new logo badly. A block S makes no sense for them. (At least, there should be an "R", too.)

I had the pleasure to watch Slippery Rock play Shippensburg in the Big House (tho we didn't call it that back then) back in 1979. I remember many a Saturday afternoon with my dad in Section 16 listening to announcer give us scores from other games around the country; man, nothing brings the Michigan fan base together like Slippery Rock. What a unifying theme. I would totally vote for an athletic director who ran on a Slippery Rock platform.
