Six Zero Oh What a Night Shirt Disappointment
Did anyone else order the shirt described here?
I LOVE the shirt, but am totally disappointed by the result. The cool part, in my estimation, is the shadow. On the shirt, the shadow is too small to really read AND the black almost completely blends into the backround.
What do others think?
[EDIT] To be clear: I LIKE the design of the shirt as shown on-line. I DON'T LIKE that the actual shirt that arrived in the mail doesn't show up very well. Trying to get other perspectives on the implementation of the design.

I think Hoke has changed the tide of the rivalry. Hell people in Ohio are starting to believe him. Never in a million years I would have thought that. Selling Michigan jerseys is a good start.

very telling

tremendous.

Nothing like giving a good kick in the nuts to someone for trying to do something cool for people, right?
September 28th, 2011 at 8:54 PM ^
If you think these shirts suck wait till you see the front page of the board. Some asshat keeps putting up new stuff for me to read.
Damn overwhelming front page content. Damn shirts.
September 28th, 2011 at 8:57 PM ^
Apparently Brady Hoke went and changed the tide on the rivalry without even telling us.
September 28th, 2011 at 9:00 PM ^
Only down here in Ohio though. You guys up there are still safe.
For some reason everybody around me wants one of the night jerseys. You guys think that's a good start?

not your best work.
September 28th, 2011 at 10:48 PM ^
You think so? Like I said, it was Barwis Effect's. I thought that was one of the best on the hotcakes thread but maybe not, in hindsight.
September 29th, 2011 at 1:04 AM ^
for a second there.
September 29th, 2011 at 3:17 AM ^
ahahahah, this made me laugh.
September 29th, 2011 at 8:58 AM ^
That looks vaguely familiar....I remember that from an ultrix system somewhere....
September 28th, 2011 at 9:13 PM ^
No dong kick intended.
I love the shirt (and tons of other stuff Six Zero has done). I don't like that you can hardly see the shadow part of the design. If I didn't think the design was good, I wouldn't have ordered it.
I'm trying to find out, from other people who ordered and received the actual shirts, if they were similarly disappointed.
September 28th, 2011 at 8:02 PM ^
You state that you love it, yet your thread suggests that you hate it.
September 28th, 2011 at 8:33 PM ^
Blame Adidas. It's the new black.
September 28th, 2011 at 9:08 PM ^
Hate how it shows up on the actual product.
To be clear: no disrespect to the design or Six Zero. I wouldn't have ordered it if I didn't think it was cool.
September 28th, 2011 at 8:08 PM ^
I thought it would be a lighter shade of blue, it's still a pretty cool shirt though, worth the money I think

MVP?
More like LVP!
Amirite?
September 28th, 2011 at 9:15 PM ^
Well done. Good thoughtful response.
Glad you paid attention to what I was trying to ask with my original post.

I was thinking that probably the best handle I could come up with for my future troll account is "The_Enigmatic_Manny_Bivins"
What do you think? I mean, I guess the cat's out of the bag now, but my secret's safe with you guys. Right?
September 28th, 2011 at 8:30 PM ^
Your not supposed to read the shadow part. It's a graphic element. Your supposed to read the WORDS. Do you talk to people's shadows when they stand next to you?

That being said, I'm sure Six Zero will appreciate the critique as an artist.
September 28th, 2011 at 8:32 PM ^
You like the shadow? Which part disappoints you? I'm confused.
September 28th, 2011 at 9:10 PM ^
Disappointed that the shadow can't be seen on the actual shirt.
It looks great on the on-line sample, but doesn't show up at all in real life.
September 28th, 2011 at 9:17 PM ^
...I can barely see the shadow AT ALL on the real product. That's my point.
I'm wondering if others who have the actual shirt are similarly disappointed. I tried to make it clear in the original post that I LIKE the design, but not the implementation.
September 29th, 2011 at 11:54 AM ^
So, if I get what you're saying. You hate the design, but think the way the shadow stands out is awesome and are extremely happy with the shirt itself???
September 28th, 2011 at 8:32 PM ^
Why don't you talk to him about it? It's pretty cheesy bringing this to the board.
September 28th, 2011 at 9:19 PM ^
Well, a few reasons:
- I don't know who he really is.
- The shirt was introduced on MGoBlog as a "Limited Edition MGo Shirt"
- Others who ordered the shirt would ALSO be on the board, and I was looking for their opinions.

Is the "MICHIGAN FERGODSAKES" shirt going to happen?
/attempted thread hijack and liberation
September 28th, 2011 at 8:44 PM ^
Not entirely sure, but I think Brian said himself it probably wouldn't happen. Something to do with licensing something that has God in the title. I'm not 100% on that though
September 28th, 2011 at 8:50 PM ^
Does the NCAA owns the rights to God?
I guess it explains why players in NCAA '11 drop to a knee to say thanks to "Creator #1".

Blue, you're in the zone tonight. This one made me laugh out loud, causing my wife to explain to her what was so funny. Of course, the humor was lost in translation but you may very well be my favorite poster.

The 1% shirt has "Glory to God" on it. That's okay, but Fergodsakes is not?
September 28th, 2011 at 8:49 PM ^
It's Dave Brandon's fault! Tradition...commercialism...MANBALL...pizza...rabble, rabble...
September 28th, 2011 at 9:14 PM ^
The "shadow" at the bottom does not contrast much at all against the background of the navy shirt. If the shirt was a royal blue it would have worked out better. I'm not overly thrilled either, but I bought one for myself and one for brother as a gift since we went to the game. Either way, it's a way to remember the night.
September 28th, 2011 at 9:21 PM ^
It is definitely a way to remember the night. I don't have plans to return it. I just think it turned out better on-line than in real life.

MVP, sorry to hear that you're not happy with your finished shirt.
To be honest I've never actually seen one of the products in person. I should also say that I do have absolute faith in the printers and their ability to carry out my layouts onto the finished apparel.
The black was indeed designed to be subtle and secondary to the design itself. Perhaps the navy shirt is much darker than the background I laid it out on? Not sure-- but personally I'm happy to hear that you can barely see it on the shirt in person. That is by design.
If you want, I can forward your concerns to the proprietors of the MGoStore. I think I speak for everyone involved when I say that the last thing I want to hear is that you're not satisfied with your MGoShirt. But I will speak for myself and say that it sounds like the shirt you got is pretty much the way I envisioned it when it was created.
Thanks for the patronage, man. GO BLUE.
In other news, MICHIGAN FERGODSAKES? Wouldn't hold your breath waiting for that one.
September 29th, 2011 at 5:41 AM ^
Well, like I said in another response -- I have no plans to return it.
I understand about the desire for subtlety, that's part of why I thought the design was so cool. The color combo is SO subtle that you almost can't see it at all. When I first opened the box, I thought it was a printing error. If the intent was really for it to be that subdued, then you got it just right! The contrast, however, is different than what I expected. My original post wasn't clear enough (as indicated by the responses) -- my dissapointment is with the printing of the shirt and not the design itself.
If you're interested, send me your email address to mvpgoblue [at] gmail [dot] com and I'll take a picture of it and email it to you. Then you can evaluate.

Can someone post a link to the shirt?
September 29th, 2011 at 3:22 AM ^
its in the original post.
September 29th, 2011 at 7:55 AM ^
scroll over the first line in the OP and you will find the link
September 28th, 2011 at 11:12 PM ^
loves you too, but is also disappointed with you.
These relationships are a two-way street. The shirt understands your "shadow" problems - but really - when are you going to wash the shirt? And your relationship with the UM polo. Shirt understands that you made no commitment, but shirt thought we had something special.
September 29th, 2011 at 8:33 AM ^
RIIGGGGGHTTTT. Look people, this wasn't some content that was posted for free, this was a product, for SALE, at a premium price. It should be subject to scrutiny. $30 for a badly made t-shirt is not cause for "thank you, may I have another".
The OP is completely right...the shadow isn't "subtle", it completely blends into the background. I held it up to the light, and you could barely see it. It's not a strong black, and the the shirt is WAY darker than the design picture. If I had known there's be a thread, I'd have uploaded a picture of it. Maybe later if it hasn't been done yet. The whole point of the shadowing is to give it a kind of cool 3-D effect. Now, only seeing the top, it looks like it was printed at an incorrect angle.
And that original post was made on 9/13. Ordered that day. And I'm guessing the reason this was posted now was, like me, he just got the shirt. It came in a box like 5 sizes too big, but UPS (looked express) 15 days later. $9 for shipping a T-shirt and it takes 2 weeks to get there? How much "handling" is going on with that shirt?
I like SixZero's designs a lot, but I'm done with Underground Printing. Since they've acquired Moe's it seems they've bitten off more than they can chew, or something. They jacked their prices to silly levels, their shipping is outright theft, an of the 4 times I've ordered from them I've had problems 3 times. Can't justify $30 for a tshirt when the service you're getting with it is crap. (Like that's ever justified).
