any road games on sale that day?
It says Purdue and Indiana
wondering about the PSU game. They sold tickets for this game two years ago but they went fast.
Same here. I really want to see the hopes and dreams of the Nittany Lions dashed at the hands of the Wolverines once again.
Sucks for out-of-towners who can't really afford to fly multiple weekends in a month, pretty much forces us to stubhub for the UConn or MSU games. Oh, well.
Got plane tix for UConn weekend (first game since my college days 10 yrs ago!), and looks like single game tix for that one won't be an option for me. Gotta decide whether to save cash and sit in crappy seats (I understand visitor seating is bottom of south endzone?) with Huskies by buying from the UConn website, pay an arm and a leg for good seats form StubHub, or take my chances with scalpers.
Any advice would be hugely appreciated. Are scalped tickets still fairly safe and available like they used to be?
Given that it's the re-dedication of the Big House, and we're playing a good team, they might not be. I don't even remember seeing very many at the WMU game last year.
I think scalped tickets are safe, but are difficult to come by at times... Like what is said, I consider myself a pretty seasoned scalper and it took me until 8 minutes left in the first quarter to score a pair of tickets at face value last year against WMU... that means that this year with even more hype i expect even less tickets to be available.
With the student tickets needed validation it really slows the scalping process, or finding a drunk tri-delt....
go buy tickets from UCONN if you dont wanna pay an arm and a leg i bought some just to sell
The cheapest ticket on StubHub for MSU right now is $175 (row 91, sec 33). Appears I'm better off buying the Maize Pack for $165 and donating the other two games to charity.
GO BLUE
You could just resell those other two games at face price-ish on StubHub to get some of your money back. They sold a 3 game pack last year with Notre Dame/Eastern Michigan/Delaware State and that's what I did with them.
Charity is a nice thought too.
If you donate to charity you can write them off on your taxes for $100 a game, not to bad of a deal then.
Up to $100 per game you mean (if you donate 2 tix)? You can't deduct more than the face value of the tickets, correct?
correct, sorry I wasn't more clear just write off the ticket face value so $100 per game if you have two tickets, that is my plan with the extra tickets I have if I can't sell them.
Being an out-of-towner and having season tickets for the first time, this thread is potentially useful. Some questions from a StubHub n00b:
- Is StubHub the only or best option for unloading unwanted/unused tickets? Is there a more "local" option, such as a bulletin board?
- Is there difficulty unloading non-marquee games on StubHub? A fellow season ticket-holder says he has difficulty finding buyers for such games (but he doesn't use StubHub).
- Can you bundle non-marquee games with a marquee game on StubHub to increase the likelihood of a sale?
- How far above face do you need to ask in order to break even on StubHub? I have no desire to ask above face; I just want to recoup my cost. EDIT: I now understand that StubHub collects a 15% commission.
- What kind of charities are we talking about? Can you give some examples of charities you've donated tickets to?
I am in the same boat as you, an out of towner with season tickets. I have had good luck selling on craigslist. I post in the ann arbor area to try to ensure that they go michigan fans. I usually use paypal receive the funds from the buyer, or cash if they are comfortable sending. Thus far I have sold all my games except the Illinois game. I was lucky to sell both the bowling green and Umass tickets already. Granted I went well below face value on them. I sold bowling green for $60 (for both tickets or $30 a tickets) and Umass I sold for $40 for the pair. Regardless I was able to recoup some of my money.
