Sims has 18 for boston
Deshawn Sims scored 18 points on 8 of 11 shooting (1-2 3pt). Great to see Sims playing well. He has an uphill battle to make the team, especially with the way Harongody has been playing, but tonight has to help. Hopefully he can put a string of these type of performances together this summer.

That it great news. How many players make the team off the summer roster?
If he is fortunate enough to make an NBA roster that would be great. Otherwise he should/could have a nice career in Europe. Quality kid who handled himself well adapting to change. Hope he has his degree or finishes one day.
I have a feeling that even if he doesnt permanently make a roster, he could be one of those guys that gets 10-day contracts to fill in for injured players. There are a lot of aging teams (Celtics are one but there are others) that usually have one or two players break down during the season. Sims would be a great short-term sign to come off the bench for 5-ish minutes a game to fill in while the regulars are injured.
Hopefully he would be able to facilitate this type of spot-work into a full-time gig which does occasionally happen.
Deshawn certainly can.
Hope he has his degree or finishes one day.
He was at graduation, so I would assume the answer is yes. There's an MGoPoster that has a pic of Peedi wearing a cap as his avatar.
The quality of play in the Summer League isn't very high - probably no better than the NBDL. But some guys do end up making NBA rosters. Amir Johnson was one. At any rate, if Sims is indeed NBA material, he's got to dominate this.
He and his mother were featured in a Detroit news article in May. A very amazing story. The kid has gone through so much.
It looked like DeShawn was playing the 3. If he catches on in the league (which, obvs., would be fantastic), I've got a feeling it's going to be at that position. I think he's definitely got the offensive tools, but I just hope he can match up defensively with NBA wings.
Too bad it's the only game he has played well so far. I wish him nothing but the best. I hope he still has enough time to make a positive impression on his team because the other 2 summer league games he only had 2 pts and 0 pts.
In the first two SL games he got limited minutes and the minutes he did get were in streaky 4 minute intervals. I think he only played 8 minutes total on Tuesday. Wednesday was the first real chance Peedi had to get into the flow of the game and showcase his skills. 18 points in 16 minutes with a .727 FG% is not too shabby.
EDIT: post is in response to umuncfan11
in the portsmount invitational as well. although, as umuncfan11 stated, his first 2 games were forgettable, hopefully he can string together a few more good performances. he certainly has talent, the question is whether he has a "position" in the league.
He should check out the Heat. They've got about 10 open roster slots and I'm sure he'd be open to playing for minimum wage which I believe is around $500k.
DeShawn Sims is the
epitome of greatness.
I hope he makes it!
DeShawn Sims will play some years in the NBA. He will never be a star, but I will cheer voraciously for him. I hope he socks away a ton of money and is basically retired at 30. Love that guy.
Sims had 10 and 5 tonight in 16 minutes. looks like they are starting to give him a little bit of a chance to prove himself. I think he will have to have a couple 20+ point games to have a shot at making the roster though.
He has always been a very underrated player, even to us. Hopefully he can catch on somewhere; he deserves it.
