Silent Commit?
Sam Webb mentions that he has learned of a 2016 4* silent commit that hasn't been brought up in any June visitor or commit watch lists.

This does not sound like a silent commit, sir. This sounds like a silent.
I mean a commit isn't really a commit any more until signing day, so what is the value of a commit that doesn't want the information shared?

We have known of a silent commit since the 22nd I would have thought it would have been brought up here before unless this is a new silent commit which would be awesome! Lavert Hill is a possibility, but my guess would be Terrance Davis. Sam said, if its the same as from the 22nd, that the kid wouldnt make it public until sometime during the season I believe.
Who do you mean when you say "we"? Just curious, I assume you mean the Scout insiders board based on the body of your note.
But somebody made a thread about it back on the 22nd because of a tweet from Trieu who was talking about an article written by Sam Webb I believe, thats why I am a little confused as to why this is just now coming up over here. Usually it doesnt take but a few minutes for the news to come over here...everyone in the thread was just speculating like they are here though
Thanks. Once upon a time it was that way here, but I don't think every bit of M news gets posted anymore. Some combination of people feeling like it's not newsworthy enough, that they'll get beat up for posting rumor, and frankly a bit of optimism fatigue. There's been a lot of giddy happy on the board over the last several years re. recruiting or preseason projections, justifably on the former. But the results have always failed expectation and I don't think people are as concerned with every bit of news re. recruiting. Though 80+ comments and counting on this topic is proving me a liar.
I used to be the guy that read every recruiting interview, rumor, news, etc. That was when everyone thought that because Hoke was such a damn good recruiter that it would all carry onto the field. Harbaugh has brought a new energy to the program for me. I dont expect Harbaugh to necessarily bring in top 5 classes right away, but now when we offer a 3 star kid I pay a lot more attention to it because nobody has an eye for talent like Harbaugh. There is a lot of smoke out there that June is going to be a very big month for us so I am hoping it will get the ball rolling in the right direction and hopefully all that optimism can be brought back sooner rather than later
Right there with you. I think about the last class, where there was a local 4* kid committed to Wisconsin, Sam Webb made it clear this kid was hoping to get an offer from Harbaugh. Instead they went with 2* Ulizio (sorry for the butchered spelling kid), and I thought "I wonder what this kid has that everybody else missed." Wasn't at all concerned that OMG WE MISSED A 4*!!! I would have been that once upon a time.
I'm just a little curious as to why we don't have a bunch of kids jumping in the boat right now. It seems obvious to me that Harbaugh is special, just viewing his actions close up now that he's here. He's someone who's going to effect your entire life, and well beyond football. Also curious as to why we don't seem to be going after Ohio kids. But it's curiosity, not concern, and not obsessive like I used to be.

I think that disqualifies him from the conversation. On the flipside, him and his mother may visit this weekend, so I'll take him along with whoever the silent commit is.

Not exactly. I know of two guys who have been called silent commits, and I'm not 100% sure which one (or whether both) is accurate. However, for the most part, I know who it's not.

I'm sure everyone would love to be raking in highly ranked players right now, but I suppose we are just going to have to wait a little bit. I imagine some guys are going to see what the coaching is like at the Summer Swarm tour and maybe pull the trigger then, but I bet the majority of them are waiting to see the team play this fall and gauge their decision based on player development and (hopefully) winning right out of the gate. We were somewhat spoiled under Hoke becuase he pulled in recruits left and right. I think our current staff is just fine with letting the program and THE TEAM speak for itself. That being the case, signing day and the weeks leading up to it may be far more interesting to us this year.
Pick yourself up man and demand a winner.
