SIAP: DL Update

Looks like Mone will play some. Expecting at least a few series.

I'm assuming those will be garbage time snaps if the game gets to that point. I don't see the need to bring Mone in for this game, especially if this game is going to be the physical slogfest that it's being billed as.

Agree with you, except our D vs their O is still a mismatch without Mone, a bigger mismatch than the reverse. Mone would help for sure, but I don't like the risk to his health, especially after seeing so many injuries the last 2 weeks in the B10. I'd like the coaches to be more cautious, but then again I have no idea what Mone's actual status is (75%? 90%?).

You don't want to risk injury, but your initial post says you hope his snaps (if any) are during GARBAGE TIME?

I think the coaches have the long term health (or at least availability) of the players very much on their mind.

And they sure won't put a guy who's health is questionable into the game during garbage time. He can get conditioning reps in practice.

Sometimes I wonder about you kids...

Is it any safer to get garbage time snaps than meaningful snaps though? If he's full strength and not a liablity I'd rather him get in the rotation right away to spell the starters until he reaches whatever snap count the trainers want to limit him to.

You do understand that he continued to play after doing whatever he did to his knee, don't you?  He came off the field, put on a knee brace, and continued to play.  It certainly looked like the only reason he came off the field when he did is because of a pick six that made it 28-0.  Unless he tweaked his knee again during practice, his knee is no worse today than it was while he was playing on it one month ago.

I know Brian has said he is legit in the past, but does he actually know who he is in person and his connection to the program? Or was Brian just saying he has been right about things in the past.

Claiming Harbaugh would be the next coach, and that we would sign with Nike, and Speight would be the starter (at the time he claimed it) doesn't seem like he was going out much on a limb to claim. I believe someone said he called the Jumpman part of the contract, which seemed to come out of nowhere and adds some legitamacy to me.

I told people Harbaugh would be our next coach before Brandon was even fired, and I have no connection to the program...

Agreed that it seems that way. But if he does, what is his reasoning to post anything on here? If I was involved with the program and knew inside information (like who the starting QB is going to be when the head coach is actively trying to keep it from the media), I wouldn't risk my job over sharing it on here.

If he is posting it here, he cares about getting credit from people on the blog. It could easily be someone like Bluevod that just wants to pretend they have connections and has claimed he knows things when anyone that regularly checks this blog knows there is a 75+% chance of that something happening.

That is why someone saying he called us having the Jordan brand as part of the contract as legitimate. There were no rumors of that before it happened, at least that I knew of.

Went back and found what Brian said about UMBig11...

"You'll have to rely on my internet spidey-sense here because we're about to delve into anonymous internet insiders. So there's this guy who goes by UMBig11, give or take some caps, and he's been saying things on 247 and our comments for a bit; he also gives Rivals some of their stuff. In my opinion, he's credible, and just a few hours after Rivals said it was Speight he posted the same thing on our board. Since then various sites have confirmed that expectation.

FWIW, this was the vibe that multiple reporters got when Harbaugh put Speight, O'Korn, and Morris in front of the media a few days ago:"

That does not imply that Brian actually knows who he is and if he has a connection with the program, just that he has been right in the past so he trusts him. He was not right about Peppers being suspended, which is why I question it now.

If you don't feel the need for this game, when do you play him? Truthfully, we probably don't "need" him until osu (msu game in my opinion is more on speight) but that isn't the only reasoning for playing a guy. In game conditioning, confidence, working on a rotation, getting guys used to playing next to him, communication. Also, maybe he wants to play...after all it is his eligibility that is being lost due to injury and I'm sure he wants to help the team out.

Why do I have this feeling that in real life you're either Jay Harbaugh or Brian operating incognito?  You my friend have, without a doubt, the best insider pipeline on the board.

Could you at least tell us something about the basis for this? Someone else started a similar thread earlier this week, and it turned out to be based just on the fact that Mone was seen walking without a boot. It's nice to know how much stock to put in these statements.

The OP does have legit connections to the team in some way. It's been confirmed that at a minimum he hears things second hand. I do wish he would actually say specifics, but maybe his source wouldn't appreciate this. Who knows.

If you've followed this guy's (I'm guessing it's a guy - could be Mrs Harbaugh) posts you'd know three things about him/her:

  • He has insider information
  •  It is never officially sourced
  •  It is always right

Well that's probably being a bit harsh.  Seems to me that he is getting direct information from coaches or observers but maybe sometimes the info is either slightly dated or just from one person's perspective.  I just wanted to add a note of caution to some thinking that everything is always proven to be 100% accurate or right.

Still, this is valuable information and much appreciated by me and many others.  Glad he is posting this and it's a real service to the board.

This was pretty well known...Mattison said he was practicing on Wednesday. Harbaugh was very optimistic and basically said Monday if he practices he'll play, well Mattison said he was practicing.

And players had hinted this on Twitter.

If you've followed the injuries all year, no one has played without making it through a full week of practice...and the first week they make it through a full week, they've been on the field.

That said, it's nice to have confirmation...and the OP basically confirms what we all could've made a very educated guess on.
