SIAP: 7 Ole Miss players interested in Michigan
They are taking some fake news and posting it smh, anyways read Sam Webb Twitter he responded to someone he knows to have info and it said rashans Mom says Little has no interest in Michigan
Maybe Little has a little interest in Michigan? Hmm.
Or Little has little to no little interest.
Don't belittle Little's little interest guys.
That was actually Rashan's mom
Rashan’s Mom plays COUNTERSTRIKE? You Go, Mama Gary!
Let me guess, it's because Harbaugh's being outworked, right?
I'm pretty sure it's always that we're ok with being Iowa.
That's my go-to line for everything now.
Let me know if that changes. I was yelling "fire Rich Rod" this year at tailgates. Very embarrassing.
Yeah, that's just a clickbait article. It's basically the two guys everyone knows who want to visit visiting and then a bunch of "they could bring friends?!?!?!"
Damn, I was hoping for Little. He would shore up that O-Line instantly.
must have clicked. He was laughing at me today about all the "scraps" Michigan is picking from Ole Miss.
"Dude, that guy is a 4th string QB!"
m o r e cookies?
I first read this as “arrested” in Michigan and need new shorts. Reading > Me.
You and me pal. I'm changing my shorts with one hand as I type this with the other.
Wait, you need new shorts because you thought 7 Ole Miss players were arrested in Michigan?
Chat sports report........nah
Probably 2-3 with legitimate, possibly done deal, interest and a few others kicking the tires.
I heard some dude named Shane Peterson was looking at Michigan?
No way...
Is he related to Shea Patterson?
Great uncle to Che
but I do think that he's related to Pea Shatterson
great-great grandson of one 'Sugar Shane' Peterson
I thought it was Sloane Peterson.
I heard she also dated some 33 yr old dude in 'bama.
Damn, I knew we didn't have a chance at Little, but man a guy can dream.
That's more than just a Little!
https://twitter.com/jfeeshan/status/938389575545835520 - Rashan Gary’s mom just said Little is not interested. Take it fwiw
That's too bad.
Those would be some epic practice reps with him trying to block Rashan.
Not to mention his presence would shore up the biggest hole on the team right now with an elite talent.
He wants dat $$$$...Michigan will NOT give him dat $$$$. Nuff said.
Tread lightly here IMO. Ole MIss was dirty, we know this. Painting players tranfsferrinig there as dirty opens up the question, well then why are they transfering to UM?
...but it is unverified information from an unknown poster that is not first hand....it should be discounted whether it is what we want to hear or not
Does Rashan's mom play counterstrike? Cuz if not, well, do i even need to finish that thought?
OP post, Little playing close to vest
He turns us into a top 4 team immediately but it does seem like it makes more sense for him to stay put.
I have been listening to Ole Miss football podcasts the last few days (g0d help me) and this guy can stay in Oxford and be nearly guaranteed (barring injury) to be picked in the 1st round of the draft.
On the other hand, two of his best friends are Patterson and Rashan. Also, if he leads Michigan to a B1G title and playoff spot - he becomes part of college football folklore.
That is a hard decision!
I know Greg Little is a pipe dream, but if he somehow decided to come here, along with Patterson, and they were both deemed eligible to play immediately? Wow.
Talk about turning a weakness into possibly a strength overnight. I doubt he comes here, but the odds look like they've at least gone from laughable to just unlikely.
Someone needs to pay that man his money. Wake up the bag man.
I would be willing to bet he would immediately help in recruiting other players/teammates and he would love to have Little protecting him, so doubt it's hopeless at this point.
Give me a couple of more tackles to throw into the competition and would be willing to bet we would field a very good OL next year.
Glad to see my Mackintosh De Luxe Toffee getting some press.
It would be great to add either little or matthews...who knows if it’s bs or not but i’ll hold out hope for one or both to come on up.
Scholarship number watching is going to get very interesting. We have about 16 open scholarships right now and were expecting attrition to allow maybe for a class of 20-22. If we got 3 transfers, that means realistically we would have room for only 1-3 more recruits. I’m sure it will all work out but it will be interesting to see how it all unfolds.
Just thinking out loud with my MI family at MGo.
1) Why wouldn't Little come here? Was He not cleared of wrong doing like Shea?
2) Is this random luck or did Harbaugh have an idea? There are suspiciously a couple unfilled spots in 2018 and very few rumblings compared with my memory of last year.
3) I am pleased a safety is prominant in the discussion. I love our guys, but we could use some help.
I'd love feedback on these thoughts I can't get out of my head.
He would more than likely choose one of the big schools in Texas?
Texas schools don't seem to be a path to a championship but I appreciate the insight. Little must be weighing the odds of a championship against the odds of an NFL career right now. Assuming he isn't weighing he odds of his own penalties for impermissible benefits received.
1. Harbaugh would have had to know that the NCAA was going to impose an additional bowl ban
2. Harbaugh initially said that he wasn't interested to Patterson (according to Sam Webb)) and only changed his mind when Speight announced his transfer - I assume he already knew about Malzone
It’s not like he waited to report sexual assaults until it was convenient for his football team. It’s all been done perfectly legal.if the kids want to come here and win good for them.
I agree. Certainly not planned. Any possibility would be a dream since communication wouldn't be permissible. I realized my thoughts were based on the unlikelyhood of MI getting a good break of this magnitude. Here's hoping!
if Little doesn't want all that information out there. If he and Rashan are friends, and Rashan knew his buddy was interested but wanted it kept on the DL, of course Rashan's mom would do anything she could to help out. My two cents, Little is waiting to see how things play out with the NCAA. If he can transfer and play, I bet he leaves for Michigan. If the players have to sit, he stays at Ole Miss without every having to mention anything about Michigan.
The guys on the Ole Miss podcast are saying that the team is torn in two right now - they are noting who is "loyal" and who is not. A guy like Little needs to stay loyal unless he actually pulls the trigger.
So that is exactly in line with your speculation.
They signed up with a program, they've been committed to it, but they have a legitimate beef if they feel rogered. Wherever he ends up I hope he does well. I just want him here for selfish reasons. :-)
I didn't know there was a Gary/Little connection.
Little had a Top 5 of LSU, Ole Miss, Georgia, Alabama, and Auburn when he was making his college decision. And he was once committed to Texas A&M.
Some guys are just SEC guys or want to stay in the region they are from. I don't know what his thoughts are but getting Little out of the South has never felt like it was possible.
I wouldn't count on him coming here. If anything, I could see him going to A&M or LSU if he were to transfer.
At least nobdy who is rational. But it is a pipe dream...
He can't transfer to another SEC school. This has been discussed.
and you apparently missed it. Ole Miss waived all transfer restrictions, including to other SEC schools.
I don't think that's accurate. Sankey, the conference commissioner, issued a memo stating that none of their players will be allowed to transfer intra-conference.
Soo...
Seems like good news, too.
Agreed. Very good news for us. I'm still holding onto a shred of hope that we somehow get Little. That would be fantastic. I'm still a bit on the fence about Patterson, but agree we have to take him if he wants to come. We do need the depth, badly.
It is good news. Bottom line is Michigan insiders THINK Little is radio silent right now. At least with the media & Michigan coaching staff. Rumors are he's headed home for Christmas break this Friday & will make a decision with his family. People think he'll be deciding between staying at Ole Miss, or transferring to either Oklahoma or Michigan, with Oklahoma being in the stronger position for whatever reason. My pure uneducated guess would be Oklahoma has a regional/geography edge as the kid is from Texas. Clearly there's likely playing time to be had here at Michigan, but I don't know what the OT depth looks like at Oklahoma either.
The article claims “it has been reported that up to 7 players are interested in Michigan,” yet does not state where that report is coming from. Mix that with the links from a previous post to chatsports and this smells like a juicy nothingburger. Sorry to say that this is likely Fake News. Sad! We could really use Little and anyone else to add to the competition.
He seems credible enough to consider it a report around these parts. He mentioned in another thread that there were as many as 7 interested players, but that Michigan fans shouldn't expect enough room for more than 3. Also, we should feel very fortunate to actually pick 3 up.
3....Little, Shea, and Jefferson.
maybe we can find room for 1 more.... Anderson.
Perfect!!!!
Go get em Jim!!
Go Blue!!!
Little interest in Michigan. We'll be fine.
GO BLUE!!
Little is the one I want more than anyone including Shea but seems the least likely.
Agreed, but: First, there's another OT starter on the Ole Miss squad. I wonder if he's one of the 7 kicking the tires or interested, and second, if somebody from 2 months ago said "immediate upgrade to QB room, safety room, and WR room", we'd take that in a heartbeat. Can't get greedy.
Hate to say it, but the more Ole Miss underclassmen want out, the less likely it happens.
The NCAA and SEC aren’t going to stand for a program (even a cheating one) losing an extraordinary number of scholarship players over a one-year bowl ban. Aside from decimating Ole Miss, it muddles the transfer rules and opens the door for future situations like this every time a school gets penalized. It’s illogical for the NCAA to willingly go down that road.
Sure, the players can go to court, but it’s hard to see what their argument is. They still have scholarships and NFL visibility in Oxford. If a player can prove that Ole Miss defrauded him in his recruitment (as with that one safety, allegedly), different story, but that would seem to only apply on a case-by-case basis.
No way that the NCAA grants a waiver for 6-7 Ole Miss players to transfer to Michigan. 2-3 is unlikely but possible. 6-7? No way.
In relation to your comments about creating future situations when teams get penalized, Wouldn't that help ensure what they are trying to accomplish though? If future situations would play out similarly, maybe that would affect team's ability to follow the rules. I'm personally all for it. If you get caught cheating, let their uninvolved players transfer.
I know. We can’t punish cheating now because we’d then have to punish cheating in the future. And who wants to do that?
Houston Nutt sued them for defamation over it. They recently settled and issued him an apology. His lawyer is the same one representing the safety.
It doesn't seem like a difficult case for Anderson to make and Mississippi doesn't want to litigate it. They've already caved on transfers and want this story to end, even if it means losing more players now.
If Anderson is successful, it doesn't seem feasible that other players would have to jump through a lot of hoops to prove they were lied to as well. The whole thing boggles the mind. Some players will have proof and can go, others won't and have to sit out? No, if they find Anderson was lied to, they'll accept that others were too. The players will get the benefit of the doubt, not Ole Miss.
The NCAA really doesn't want anyone poking around at its transfer rules, because there's little chance they survive a serious lawsuit unscathed. I find it hard to believe that a blanket non-compete agreement -- which is what this really is -- would survive in the current legal environment.
For one thing, non-compete agreements are void for employees in California, so if athletes are ever found to be employees, the first California athlete to sue will create free agency for all D-I athletes in the state -- and then nationwide, since schools will have no choice but to drop their restrictions lest they lose their recruits to California. (The agreements are probably void for student-athletes even if they're not employees, but, AFAIK, it hasn't been tested yet).
For another thing, there's no real justification for transfer limitations under the law. The real reasons are competitive balance and attempting to deny leverage to the athletes. The first is something that the law won't really recognize (but could be collectively bargained; the NFL draft would be illegal under labor law but is allowed because the union agrees to it). The second is something that's ridiculously one-sided.
If the NCAA leadership is listening to its lawyers, they will issue a statement about how this represents a special circumstance due to the specific nature of the situation and grant an immediate waiver for all athletes interested in transferring.
This is Ole Miss, after all. They may be in the SEC, but they're not old money ESS-EEE-SEE.
If they fight the waiver, that opens them up for a lawsuit on the wait-one-year transfer rule. I'm not a lawyer, but it seems it would be tough to defend legally preventing a student from pursuing athletics and transferring to another school.
They have a great legal argument and as a result the NCAA will likely just grant the releases due to special circumstance.
Little ain't coming. Shea Patterson he coming for sure
Well let's just shut this down then, since the oracle hath spoken.
This seems to be the prevailing thought from a lot of different avenues.
But it's just that, a "thought". We have seen crazier things happen. I just wish people wouldn't make a solid proclamation as if they posess some kind of inside info that they clearly don't.
He’s not coming...
Little is close with Oklahoma's backup QB (next year's starter) Kyler Murray. They were teammates in HS. Expect Little to transfer there
If Greg Little and Tyler Murray were so tight, why didn't Little sign with Texas A&M along with Murray in 2016?
Those who transfer* will be champions.
*to UM.
With all this transfer stuff with Ole Miss guys, anyone have an idea of how long this process will shake out to see if they're eligible right away for the 2018 season? Can't imagine anyone officially leaving without knowing.
SEC bagmen are filing for unemployment
Sorry. Couldn’t resist.
The Ole Mich Runnin' Wolverines! Best be careful though regarding tampering. Ole Miss is out for blood!

Shea Patterson, Greg Little and Deontay Anderson with immediate eligibility would be a Christmas miracle
