Notice the screw up in Lattimore's caption? I understand people make mistakes, but come on this is an edited, publicised peice of work under a highly successful magazine.

You don't get paid to breathe, but you seen to be doing that. Lol, sorry I couldn't resist. My math teacher would say that to us, and it always cracked me up.

Well, that's interesting.  Apparently the SEC and USC have all the best players in college this year.

These preseason lists always make me laugh - Gholston had 5 sacks last year and is a second-teamer, and Te'o, despite always being very mortal against good competition, is rated as one of the best 3 LBs in the country.

Three in the regular season and he's getting all this hype? He also had the benefit of having Jerel Worthy on the line...not sure how things will change this year without their almighty snap-timer Worthy on the line. I'm really hoping their offense implodes and the defense doesn't live up to its enormous expectations set by their fans.

Between the first and second team, here's how the conferences are represented:

Pac-12: 13

SEC: 13

Big 12: 11

Big Ten: 6

ACC: 5

Notre Dame (sole independent here) rings in with 2, and the Big East and WAC have one each. No, this list doesn't seem a bit stilted at all, given that 71% of their picks come from three conferences and the Pac-12 and SEC alone represent 50% of the total.  Among the more heavily represented teams, LSU has six players between the two teams, USC has four, and Alabama and Oregon come in with three each.

with the list. It's based off of last years performances and frankly I don't see where any UM guys outside of Lewan would merit such accolades. It has no effect on how they may perform this year. And of course there is a lot of USC and SEC players...both of those identities have a sick habit of sending several, several players to the NFL. They are doing something right.

So much wrong with your post:

"It's based off last years performances" - Lattimore and Gholston would beg to differ

"I don't see where anyone outside of Lewan would merit accolades." hmmm - a player who recieved 1st place Heisman votes as a sophmore, was a candidate much of last year, and is entering his senior year poised to potentially become the all-time rushing yardage leader for a QB, coming off a BCS bowl win and 11-2 season wouldn't merit consideration?

Bulletin board material. Denard has gone largely ignored going into this season. I haven't seen his name on any of the QB watch lists. The Lewan omission is another eye opener given his lofty draft status...

"Denard has gone largely ignored."

Ranked as the #2 Heisman candidate by Heisman Pundit. Repeatedly lauded by Bruce Feldman.

Is one of the main reasons Michigan is preseason top 10.

Predicted as a second or third round NFL draft pick next year.

Given the keynote players' speech position at B1G media days.

Yep, he's been largely ignored.

That comment is ridiculous.

What is with the Gholston hype? His number don't match it. Sure he more then looks the part and he "should" be a good to great player but has yet to do it. A guy that hasn't broken out yet doesn't deserve a spot on any AA team imo.

I think its pretty cool the B1G has the top two SI RB's for what its worth.

He'll likely end up Nebraska's #2 all time running back----think about that, #2 for a program known for running the ball and great backs.

Who do you like better (excluding Fitz)?

Aside from the top 10 preseason ranking, our overall national impression is mirroring that of the '97 squad. Team Motto : We Want It All vs mount everest/axe analogies. Started with #1 colorado that year and set the tone for a dream season. The more injustices the better for a team with a chip and an out to prove everyone wrong attitude. The modern day miracle win will happen in arlington 2012. Move over 1969. You have some company.
