Should Fred Jackson get a pay raise?

Submitted by lilpenny1316 on

I mean, my man did get fired with no assurances of a job in the new regime...I assume. At least in 2007 he was still being paid until RR cleaned house.  So I thought he got a pretty raw deal for being all Michigan Man to the bone.

This isn't really a question of his recruiting/coaching performance.  It's been my experience that when people are given then boot, then rehired that quickly, there's usually a bump in pay or perks.  Was I witness to the exception or the rule?  I don't know.

I kinda get the feeling that Fred Jackson was never actually fired.

But......unless he is woefully underpaid, I'm sure he would be more than happy to come back at the same rate.

I don't Fred was ever really fire beyond the fact it would be a big slap in the face of the other assistants to can them all but keep Fred on payroll the entire time.  Everyone was symbolically fired, although we knew Fred was coming back.

Beside even if he wasn't brought in a coach I'm sure we'd have opened up a spot in the AD's office for him.  I figure as he gets older and gets sick of making recruiting trips we'll find an office job for him if he wants it.

DB might as well pay someone.

It's normally necessary to pay a formerly terminated employee to return, but Fred's son is on the team and he obviously loves the program. In that sense, Fred's situation isn't too comparable to other businesses. Does he deserve it regardless, though? Probably.

Fred Jackson Facts and Fred Jackson rehired.  I already know that Fred Jackson is the most awesome person this side awesomeness.  And the latter post referenced a link to the Freep which is banned within three square miles of anywhere I eat, sleep or take a Bert Smith.

Brandon said we need to pay "top dollar" for our coaches.  Well the crew that Hoke is assembling sure doesnt warrant anything resembling "top dollar" yet so why the hell not give it to Fred?

That wasy DB could be honest finally and the nicest and bluest guy on the planet would get paid.

Win win in my book.

Fred Jackson has truly been a gleaming beacon of stability in a sea of controversy and change. In fact, he's been so stable he's like the biggest, brightest lighthouse except he also floats (which is clearly superior). Had he been there, the Exon Valdez disaster would have never occurred. But lo, he was not there for he is not actually a channel marker.

Fred Jackson gives himself a pay raise listening to pod casts of his own speeches.  i know I would give myself one listening to Fred.

he does. it doesn't matter how much of a raise it is, though.

"i make $50 more this year rather than last year? that's a bigger raise than returning the majestic Titanic from the ocean floor. i feel like a million angels and a thousand Titans. thank you Dave Brandon, you are a God among Kings."

From Fred Jacksons's comments, that he would take this job for free. He is at the University that he loves , plus he gets to coach his son. It must be very exciting and fulfilling for him to be able to coach his son and spent a large amount of time with him.

That being said, give the man a raise, he is a fine coach and recruiter. He surely deserves it.

man that he is..... He probably would be a coordinator by now had he chosen to leave Ann Arbor and work his way through the ranks.  But he appears to be what DB wants- truly a Michigan man.......I say pay him

Why is everyone always on this guy's nuts....It's so annoying....When did it become this trendy cliche movement to always exalt this guy....Seriously, we fucking get it.  He has been with Michigan for a long time and is a good recruiter and thinks every running back is the next Barry Sanders.....

Douchebags, please come up with some new material...This is not worthy of a post.  This blog is getting so fucking trite.
