Wow, that does look pretty bad. If the shoe fits... Just kidding, may he light up the field this Saturday while we are sporting a 52-10 fourth quarter lead. Death is a release, not a punishment.

I don't completely understand the formula for quarterback rating, but to improve Sheridan's rating, I think not only would he have to attempt another pass, he'd have to complete it... to a Michigan player.

I also posted it earlier in the Ryan Mallett thread here: http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/ryan-mallett-1-qb-rating-after-week-2 NCAA QB Rating Formula: a = (Comp/Att) * 100 b = (TDs/Att) * 100 c = (Int/Att) * 100 d = Yards/Att QB Rating = a+(3.3*b)-(2*c)+(8.4*d) It weights YPA and TD/Att pretty heavily. To get back into the positive, he needs to hit his next pass for at least 12 yards. He'd then have a rating of 0.27. Add a TD on top of that, though, and it jumps to 110.27. TD's are huge in this formula.

QB rating is all based on percentages (% completions, % TDs, %INTs) so even attempting a few more passes that are not picks will help make the rating less negative, although he will have to complete one sometime to get into the black.

I don't want to give up any game reps to anyone but Forcier and Robinson. Maybe we can let Sheridan take the final knee against OSU when we win in Nov. Won't help his passer rating or run stats, but at least he could get in the game.

Seriously, given the opportunity to throw another pass may not improve his rating very much considering his affinity for throwing the ball to the other teams players. I am all for giving him some time in mop up duties but I hope he never sees another meaningful snap the rest of his career. To be clear, I don't dislike Sheridan at all, but I certainly don't think it is in UM's best interest to have him on the field either. This likely applies to every teams third string guy.

Somehow I get an uneasy feeling that (as Gandolf said about Gollum) Sherridan " still has a part to play" in determining our fate. And like Gollum, he's just so hard to watch (nerd moment over)

you gotta know when to fold 'em. I mean, what if he does worse!? "0-3, 1 int" or something? If it is any consolation, him, Coner, Kennedy, and all the rest of the qb's will get playing time against Delaware St. I want Shoelace getting all the reps he can get against Eastern, we need him to be totally capable in case Tate goes down.

Well, we owe Sheridan at least one more pass; I don't remember RR giving him any playing time against ND, even though he said he'd play all 3 QBS. This can only be due to his lack of family values, forcing his players to practice too much, and saying "fuck" at a coaches dinner.

I think the only way we get his comp rating up is if he actually makes a comp or 2. Perhaps if he were to aim for the guys in the green helmets he might get it to one of the guys in the windged helmets. Sorry bad joke I know but felt like I had to say it.
