Shawn Conway loves him some RR

Submitted by BKFinest on

He just tweeted:

"rich rod better not get fired!!! imma be pissed if he does"

Interesting, since it's the first I've seen from a recruit or current player directly addressing the issue.

To me, this is the downside of DB waiting to decide.

It really is turning into a bit of a circus when you have recruits - 17 year old kids - tweeting on our coaching search.

I agree that the social media and 24/7 news cycle now would drive Bo to drink.  But if he were still around, he would have squelched any dissent in the athletic department about RichRod or the program. He may have been retired, but he still had an office in his Hall and he would have knocked heads together. I think Bo, who coined the term, would recognize that RR is a Michigan man and he would demand everyone's loyalty or silence or tell em to GTFO.

Actually, it's someone a lot more well connected then just an alumn. I'm not giving up my source and I don't give a shit if people neg me. This person is way more connected then just an alumni. I'm just saying what I know about the situation. Hate me if you want for passing it along but I'm standing behind it 100%.

Give DB some credit here.  He is obviously placed the importance of a fair evaluation of RR's work above the demands of a recruit's timetable.  Which is kinda funny if you think about it - the recruits cant sign anything until February anyways.

I agree. It has nothing to do with February in Dee Hart's case. He wants to enroll early, as do many other high profile recruits these days. If there is uncertainty in the coach, players will look elsewhere. And with players like Hart, Walls, and others who want to enroll early and announce at the AA game, waiting for a decision on RR until after the bowl game will be too late.

Hart said it himself back in October:

"I liked Michigan either way and if [Coach Rodriguez] were to leave it wouldn't affect me because I think I can play in any offensive system. So it really wasn't my concern. That being said I wanted to make sure everything came together. He's winning ball games right now and the future looks good so it's coming together."

Why does waiting until January equate to a fair evaluation?  DB has been the AD for a year.  He is on the sidelines.  He meets with RR weekly.  He attends some practices.  He has watched the games, knows the roster, is aware of the injuries / youth, aware of the B10 record, aware of the record against rivals, aware of how our offense has improved, aware of the split in opinion amongst the fanbase and aware of what type of guy RR is.  This is for sure.

By now, I would hope - assume - that he has gotten imput from alum, former players, donors, any trusted advisors, his priest, his mom, Katy Perry and whomever else he needs to consult.  The point is that the evaluation should have been ongoing, such that by this point, he can make a damn decision.

If you thought the whole National Coaching Search of 2007 was an embarrassing circus, what do you think the next month holds for Michigan football?  The National Media is already harping on RR's speech at the Bust - a speech at a Bust is garnering national negative attention.

Do you think that the media frenzy is going to go away over the next month?  Do you really think that it isn't taking a toll on the players?  How about on the other recruits?  Conway is now tweeting, Dee is likely decommitted.  Given our depth issues, can we afford a lost year?

What is to be gained by holding firm to his refusal to decide promptly.  My confidence in the pimp hand is wavering.

Could feel obligated to let RR finish the season.  Might also think he'll have better odds landing his top candidate if he waits til after bowls.  But probably because it saves Mich 1.5 mil if he waits to fire him.

That post-bowl evaluation is code for two things: 1. We can't talk to Harbaugh much if any until his post-season is over.  2. If that falls through, we'll bring Rodriguez back.  But if it falls through, no one will know because it will all have been done very very quietly.

The Rich must stay crowd on here should feel pretty good that everything I have read is they are not envisioning a 2007 type coaching search.  Michigan won't let go of the Rodriguez vine until the Harbaugh vine is secure.

Lots of people on here struggle with the world of  "is" if it doesn't comport with their viewpoint.

What is to be gained by holding firm to his plan? Everything is to be gained. Everything that Michigan should stand for anyways. An AD who has a plan and sticks to it is something to be happy about instead of whining about. It's called integrity and that is what should be the basis of U of M athletics. I don't want our leader pandering to fans and media who assume our coach is on the hot seat. Only DB knows if RR is on the hot seat and he doesn't have to reassure the media and fans every week to keep them happy. He has a job to do HIS WAY not Terry Foster's way or John Doe's way.

Sure we could be like other schools and say who the hell cares with plans and ideals! It's the recruiting that matters! We lost a kid who MAY have left because of the timetable on coaching evaluations. A kid who claimed to love Michigan no matter who the coach was. Yet everyone is blaming David Brandon for this? Maybe Dee Hart isn't the kind of kid we are looking for here (if these rumors are true). If everyone is right about him going to Alabama just because he perceives a potential coaching change then he is a liar. We could be USC and sell our souls to please kids who want to come to our school or we could be Michigan and do things the right way. I'd prefer the right way because although it's hard, in the end it makes winning at this school that much sweeter.

looks like further proof that this process of waiting till January is distracting the team, the fans,  recruiting, everything.  How DB cannot view this as damaging to the program, as this will be the norm for every year and every year it will be a distraction (of course winning a lot cures everything).
