Shawn Conway Junior Day Video

Submitted by Trizz on
I can't confirm this but based on the date it was uploaded, this appears to be highlights from the camp. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9L_LNVczOaU I checked a few pages back and didn't see anything, so hopefully this is new!

I didn't see it the last time it was posted so thanks. Who were those DB's he was torching? This guy looks like he could be another Greg Mathews type only better. It had been said here a few times that Conway lacked speed, but he seemed to be blowing by guys a lot on that tape.

In his highlight video there were a couple plays in open field where he didn't look very fast, but I believe someone said he was nursing an ankle injury during that part of the season (buried in one of the threads, somewhere). He looked great in that video though, and he seems to catch everything that's thrown his way

I remember watching the 2008 Oklahoma Sooners (who run some similar passing spread schemes as we do), and what stood out to me was that one major reason they were so unstoppable is that all their WRs and TEs seemed to be 6-3 and taller, and just towered over the DBs, making it very easy for Bradford (not taking anything away from him) to get them the ball. As much as I was enamored with our tiny, quick slot guys, I was like, we need some kids like this. Conway has a chance to be just that. This kid extends well, and uses his height to his advantage just like the stable of studs Oklahoma had that year.

Those were some pretty decent throws, who threw 'em? He's good at shielding away defenders at the sideline which is nice. I do hope those corners he went against didn't get an offer.

I didn't witness the MGoFirestorm firsthand, but the first thing I saw was his highlight video and that was enough for me. I don't know how many times it needs to be said, but I'm going to say it one more time. RATING SERVICES ARE A GUIDELINE. The only thing one accomplishes by reacting negatively publicly on a board such as this to a recruit committing is to make that recruit question his commitment. From his junior highlight video and from this video, I think it's pretty clear that this young man is going to be very special. He catches the ball well away from his body as well as in traffic, he's got great size and he is a superb athlete. With more polished route running, I'd say that he's the best WR recruit in the past two recruiting classes. Star rankings be damned.
