Shane Morris starting today

Submitted by ADSellers on
Pretty much confirmed. GBW is reporting that multiple sources have said he's starting and Herbstreit just said the same thing during ESPN Gameday. Greise and TVH both said they expect him to start as well.

You owe three apologies here, WD.

One to Rick Leach for not including the win over OSU in Columbus the next week and for the Rose Bowl on January 1st when USC got rewarded the Charles White phantom TD.

One to Shane Morris who started that toilet bowl game against Kansas State last year.

And one to Demetrious Brown, a lefty #7 who shared the starting QB job throughout the 1987 and 1988 seasons, AND who won us the Rose Bowl over USC on 1/1/89.

since the staff decided gardner was committing too many TO's and reigned him in, he has had one good game (osu).  this change is needed and expected. making gardner a pocket qb makes him a very poor qb. let him dual threat, he's a lot better but gets you 3 TO's a game.

shane should be given the job full time, regardless of how shaky he starts.

im more interested in whether gardner moves back to WR and how he looks there. people don't like galloway, but he was right in the appy state game: this team lacks a threat to take the top off the defense. maybe gardner can be that threaet.

Whoever starts or ends the game, I hope we see some real intensity and hardcore attitudes fom the team.  They need to be angry and just let it rip.  Attack and destroy.  I am not sure how this team became so soft but damn it, play with some fire for once. You are not using your talent and only will if you decide you are taking on the world. The preseason talk is empty until they bring some attitude.

it troubles me. Despite his turnovers, Devin has earned the opportunity to start his senior year B1G season opener at home.

Coach can have a short leash with Devin, but he should start, imho.

Assuming this is true, how much does Gardner play, if at all? I assume that if Morris starts the coaches will go all in on him, and give him a long leash. But, is there any chance Gardner gets a drive or two, if things don't go really, really well with Morris? Could they try a (very poor man's) Leak/Tebow thing? His struggles notwithstanding, Gardner is a great athlete and can do things with his legs, and I think it would be hard to keep him off the field completely.

Shane gets flustered easily in the pocket, and it's hard for any quarterback not to with this offensive line.  I don't like DG's decision making, but I'm very skeptical about how this will go.  Then again, I don't know if I've been more skeptical about a Michigan in any season.

Yay we can see shane throw a bunch of underneath passes and screens going for 5 yards then watch his "adventure" throws down the field being run back the other way. I have a very bad feeling about this

The correct call is to start Gardner and utilize his mobility rather than trying to force him to be a pure pocket passer (assuming he isn't injured of course, which I don't think he is).

Since that is obviously not going to happen with this staff, I say go ahead and give Morris a shot. Might as well see what he can do since Gardner has really struggled so far this season. I have no faith that it will go any better, but at least I won't have to read idiotic comments about how everything will be fixed when we put in our sophmore backup.
