Shane Morris-Redshirt or not??

Will he or not?  I think he plays next season and beats out Bellomy as the backup.

I think people seeing Bellomy (as a RS Freshman) play so poorly at Nebraska has given them the notion that the kid has no place on a CFB field. Ever. As if he cannot mature, learn and develop like players have for all of football history. Why does a failed few Freshman outings = bust these days? I firmly believe he can play QB at a winning level at Michigan. I believe more practice in a system not geared to run Denard to death will help him. Call me crazy but I think that. So, unless Shane comes in head & shoulders above Bellomy you RS him. I don't know if that will be the case and I'd bet against it. It would take the staff knowing Bellomy cannot manage a game & a VERY early injury (like Gutz early) for Morris to play this year, IMO.

1. Did not know that. 2. Exactly my point. Kid was a RS Freshman having practiced a system not suited to his skills. I think he'll be a fine backup this year. Don't think he'll yet be a kid we want out there but one we don't all crap our pants if he does.

Does anyone else worry about him being a lefty since the pool of successful south paws is rather low? I think his arm strength and escapability are huge pluses in believing he is going to be great I just get worried that he will still rely too much on his arm and it might cost him in other areas.

Thoughts?

If they can reconfigure the offensive line to make his blind side safe...it all depends on how much the OL coaches can get the guys to learn. If right-handed pulling is this hard to learn might as well leave left-handed pulling out of the picture for another year, at least in games.

I am hoping that he can redshirt to get back what turned to be a lost season in 2012 due to mono.  He has plenty of arm; now, all he needs to do is control it a bit better.  An extra year to do that and acclimate himself to major college ball would be great.

This is what happened in 2010.  Gardner played when he didn't have to, and now there are questions about whether he'll have a fifth year or not.  Unless something bad happens, Morris should redshirt.
