THE Shane Morris Interview

Submitted by Steve Lorenz on

Here's the interview I did with Shane Morris this week. I think it really answers a lot of the questions that people have about Shane. In talking to him, I feel like he's aware of what lies in front of him and has the right support system surrounding him. In short, he should be great. Here it is, hope you enjoy: Shane Morris

I really like this kid...He will be great at the University of Michigan.

On a side note: Does anyone ever worry about burn-out with these young kids as they are getting more and more involved in recruiting and preparing for their eventual role

i wonder which qb is going to have to sit in 2013. devin will be a senior. but russell bellomy will be a pretty good qb. and with morris coming in. i just hope no one transfers. all our qbs are studs.

As much as I'd like Shane to come in and start from Day 1, I would like to see Devin have his year, especially after backing up Robinson for what will be 3 years. He'll know the offense very well, and will still have that dual threat ability. I think the QB battle between Morris and Gardner will be the biggest offseason story for us next year, but after Gardner graduates, I don't think there's any doubt Morris will be our guy.

Unfortunately for Bellomy, though, I think he will be a career backup, but I hope he gets some snaps here and there.

Tremendous interview, I really enjoy these. Keep up the good work.

Reading that interview put the biggest grin on my face. Shane is an outstanding kid and is exactly the type of player I want playing for Michigan. He's starving for success and has his head on straight it seems. He's going to be special.

If Shane can get LTT and TI aboard, I will be absolutely giddy. I'm partially giddy already because of Morris and Thomas. I really don't have a bad thing to say about any of the guys that Hoke has brought in thus far. They all seem like good kids.

Cass Tech (thus RJS and Trich) is not in the catholic league. Also Shane said the d1, d2 and d3 champs came from the catholic league and that is not true because Cass won the d1 title. Brother Rice and OLSM did win the d2 and d3 titles. No biggie still a great read.

Shane really does do his best to stay humble and focused despite all of the attention. He really deserves credit for that. At his age, I would have goofed that up horribly.

And how great is it that he appreciates the nickname "Overrated"? The guy has a sense of humor about himself and really seems to be putting things into perspective.

Battling with the guys who gave my daughter and i fast passes to space mountain as favorite de la salle prepster. One thing to note is that cass tech (rjs and tr) is psl not dcl.

And he really is an amazing kid who has a lot of supporters and a lot of haters and he handles it all amazingly.

Personally I'm not a fan of all the intentional nicknaming we've been trying to do lately.  A nickname should arise naturally, organically; it shouldn't be thought up and assigned prematurely.   The right nickname will come to a guy at the right time.

I'm so glad we're going back to a pro style offense. RR's offense is a good college offense, but isn't ideal for a NFL caliber QB. RR has never produced a legitimate NFL qb while at WVU and UofM. Michigan will once again be QB university and back to winning B10 titles under Hoke and his magnicificant pro style offense!

I really appreciate these interviews.  Shane sounds like a solid kid who won't listen to all the hype, and will hopefully continue to work hard.  As far as nicknames go- I'm not sure we should nickname any player until they've actually played a down of football for Michigan, but if I'm forced to come up with a nickname, how about Shane "Chuck Norris" Morris? (I swear I am only mildly obsessed with the amazing feats of Chuck Norris)

-When Alexander Bell invented the telephone, he had 3 missed calls from Chuck Norris.
