Actually, being in "the red" in Bolivian is actually a good thing.  Having a negative amount of Bolivianos means a Bolivianan has a positive net worth.  In fact, FuManBlue is one of the wealthiest men in Bolivian.  As his outside counsel, I can vouch for his creditworthiness.

Pellini is definitely in the top 5 of defensive coaches.  He was the DC at Oklahoma when they were in the national championship hunt, then he left and they no longer are.  He was the DC at LSU when they were in the national championship hunt, then he left and they no longer are.  He went to Nebraska and cleaned up the mess that Callahan left behind.  Plus, he coached a young run first, throw second QB this year.

Seems like a great fit from a football perspective.

Let's hire Hoke so he doesn't go nuclear on us at the SDSU game next season.  On second thought, let's not hire Hoke because it would be weird for him to be going up against his old team in one of his first games as Michigan coach.

Wait, what was the question?

It happens.  Tommy Tuberville and Houston Nutt are two examples off the top of my head.  Plus, it is very common for assistants to be hired within the conference, Dan Mullen and Gary Moeller for example.  Coaches don't think like fans do.  It's a job, a career, what you did in the past often doesn't have much bearing on what you'll do in the future.

It would instantantly amp up a rivalarly that is already set to explode.  I think the only weird possibility is that we may start wondering which red team we hate more, or hates us more at least.  I'd like to keep my red hatred pure, but it can't help but make the competitive juices flow even stronger and that is what we all gravitate too, right?  So, not the worst idea.

I still feel safe thinking I'll hate the scarlet shade of red much, much more. Growing up I "hated" OSU because I was taught to as a UM fan. Once I started to meet and abhor many OSU fans it turned into a real and absolute hatred. There can be no worse fanbase in the world, (ir)regardless of sport.

But I think what he did at Nebraska is quite similar to what he will face here.  Traditional powerhouse from a less-than-fertile area for recruiting that had fallen on hard times.  And he did a good job.  With out too many ethical issues.  And the other (non-JH) candidates are Brady Hoke (underqualified and unproved) and Les Miles (idiot).  He's my top choice.

And yes he has a good job but he apparently has a strained relatiosnhip with the AD.  Plus he only makes $2.1 which we could double if we wanted to pay him JH money.

I don't give a shit where Pelini went to school, he's a complete asshole.  He already can't get along with the AD at Nebraska, where he came in with a degree of goodwill, and you think his bull in a china shop routine will last long in Ann Arbor?  No fucking thanks.  I actually think Miles might be a better hire than Pelini, and I'd rather have Hoke than Miles.

Winning makes you a fit. If Bo (YTB) struggled his first few years, we'd be talking about him not being a good fit. That's an awkward thought considering that he defined the culture that we have at Michigan today.

If the next coach "isn't a fit", comes in and beats all of our rivals, and wins the Big Ten next year, he will be the definition of Michigan Man at that point.

I honestly think there are a lot of people interested in this job. People asking if Michigan is still an elite job should lose their job. Listen, Michigan was in a BSC bowl not long ago. Maybe some of the recruits think Michigan is irrelevant but the fact of the matter is, every coach, whether it be on the college or nfl level knows what Michigan is all about. Most of those guys were playing when Bo was at Michigan or coaching when he was. They know what Michigan stands for. They know this is the winningest program in college football. How many other schools have 110,000 fans at their games?

I just feel there are a lot more candidates then we all think.

I clicked on the "QuiBids" and the "Groupon" ads.  3 more to go!

Can you explain in layman's terms what is happening with the site this week?  Is it just an "overload" problem that affects what we are able to access and being unable to vote?  I'm interested in learning more.

Just heard on 97.1, so take it for what its worth, that Tony Dungy said he's glad UM hasn't called him because he'd have a hard time saying no to the job.

What would all of your thoughts be about Brandon contacting Dungy about the job?

Dungy is from Jackson. Also, it is a little easier to win and be in the spotlight at Michigan rather than Minny. The publicity would also allow him to still be a strong public figure and help with his All Pro Dads and other charitable contributions. On top of this, I could see him still being a great coach as he is a strong mentor, as well as religious and could help with young men in their development and many parents would love for their kids to play for him.

I'd sure like to see Tony make UM his podium for all his wackadoo evangelical ministry projects.

At any rate, the way he phrased his response was that he was glad UM didn't call because his dad was a big Michigan fan and it wouldn't feel right to turn them down ... but if they did call, he'd "have some good recommendations for them."   He didn't leave it open at all.  It's not happening.

Not only is he a winner at the NFL level, he's really got the philanthropic character that seems to embody Michigan coaches.  He'd really find ways to give back to Ann Arbor, on the field and off of it.  It could be a good angle if Brandon decides to pursue him.
