But seriously though, who is Plan B?

Submitted by DeBored on

Miles says "no" strangely, Mullen says no contact, no smoke around Mora, etc.  Meanwhile, Kawakami is adamant that Harbaugh is an NFL guy.  So who is our Plan B?  Is anyone else hoping that we at least get rejections from Patterson and Stoops to indicate that we at least TRIED?  If Harbaugh ends up not being the coach, who do we end up with?

And if it's Schiano I QUIT LIFE.

Mullin - is in a wait and see mode! He is interested but really likes Miss

Mora - to me makes the most sense besides Stoops, he's tuff, young, NFL ties, and a no nonsense guy

Stoops - my choice from day 1, I really think he or Mora is our future coach if Harbaugh says no.

honestly, anyone but harbaugh at this point would be a major disappointment.  not saying we wont get a good coach, but i'm not emotionally prepared to think about any other scenario at the moment lol.

Call me crazy, but I'd be just as happy with Stoops as I would with Harbaugh. Also, Miles would excite the hell out of me too. Obvioulsy I want Harbaugh more than anyone, but I think "settling" for Stoops or Miles should ease some of the pain of not landing Harbaugh.

Bronco Mendenhall should be a very solid plan B option. He's had a ton of success at BYU. BYU has fairly rigorous academic standards and extremely rigorous personal conduct standards so you'd have to believe he's both capable of recruiting to a place like Michigan and able to run a clean program. He's also only 48 but has had 9 years of major coaching experience. No smoke that I've seen around him though.

Lack of contact with these candidates has to be a good thing.

Seriously, I am thinking that Harbaugh has already agreed to terms with Hackett and Schlissel.  If Michigan has already committed to helping with the buyout, then it MUST remain an absolute secret- meaning no one outside of Harbaugh/Hackett/Schlissel (and agents) knows about it, or it could cost them millions as I would imagine this would have an effect on Harbaugh's buyout.  They are waiting until the season's end, or hoping that SF fires him.

None of these NFL guys knows anything beyond "no NFL guy lowers himself to college voluntarily" so I really don't care what Kawakami says, seeing as how that is merely his opinion (he stated such).

Should be option 1B.  Seriously.  "Hmmm, let's look at these resumes...  We have someone who's won a national championship, played in two, consistently wins in the best division in college football, and all but broadcasts to the world (including his own players) that he loves Michigan.  Oh yeah, then we have all these other guys.  The best one in that pile (Mullen) finally beat some good teams this year and has similar baggage as that guy who loves Michigan and won a natty.  Phew... this is such a tough decision..."

les should get the job if we don't land harbaugh.  shit, worst case scenario he doesn't do so well and we're right back in this same spot in 3-4 years trying to get harbaugh again.  best case scenario: we're back.  win-win?

Where we miss out on Harbaugh and there is no solid plan B - which leads to Hackett appointing Mike DeBord or Doug Nussmeier interim head coach for the upcoming season as he continues the search. I don't see Hackett trying to pull the wool over our eyes and convince us Schiano or Addazio is the guy (that's a Dave Brandon move). He'll be honest and upfront if in the end he hasn't found the right guy for the job.

That said, why is Mike DeBord even remotely involved in the program still? I hate that guy and all the rest of Lloyd's lackeys.
