Semi OT - WTKA Caller and Tate's behavior

Some of you might  find this trivial but I do not.   It got me quite upset.

OK,  Today a caller on WTKA called in and was criticizing Tate for sitting/pouting on the bench.

OK, Fine.    Nothing new there.

He proceeded to claim that Tate was on the bench by himself even during the time when Denard was hurt,  claiming he was sulking off on his own while Denard was injured.    Saying Tate doesn't care about Denard, etc.

Well.... I just happened to be watching the DVR of the game and what do I see?  Tate Standing on the sidelines, next to a coach / trainer and Denard,  during the time Gardener was in the game.

I'm not sure how to post a screenshot but on my recording of the game Tate can be seen in the  same shot as Denard while the trainer is talking to Denard, at 0:43 left in the 3rd quarter, plain as day.  I don't know when Tate got all pouty but he wasn't doing it while Denard was hurt.

WTKA caller:  you're full of shit.

If you are a fan of this team I'd think you'd want this team to have as many good players at as many positions as possible, including QB.

Stop inventing crap to throw at the team.

(1) Whatever this is, it's not OT.  It's about Tate Forcier, a Michigan football player.

(2) What this is, I'm afraid, is road-rage directed at an anonymous caller.  Unfortunately, he probably does not frequent these boards, and those that do gain little from this.

When you hear those callers (the misinformed, perpetually angry, and denizens of underbridges), take a deep breath and revel in the fact that the proverbial bandwagon is now slightly lighter in the waist.

From what I remember in the game as soon as Robinson went down both Gardner and Tate were at the sideline. However, as soon as it became evident that Gardner would be the one going in the cameras showed him warming up and Tate kind of pushes his way through the team to the bak of the sideline. I don't remember them showing him at that point on the bench alone or anything. To me he looked a bit upset but what competitive athlete wouldn't be.

(watching TV at home) you couldn't make any judgements of what Tate was feeling at the moment Denard got hurt.  I will admit that everyone around was a bit surprised that Tate was not the back up coming in to relieve Denard.  This caller was obviously jumping to conclusions.  I wouldn't be surprised if Tate is going through some feelings of disappointment, having got beaten out for the starting position he used to have; but that's just sports.  However, I really didn't see any evidence of a "pouty" kid on the sidelines.  I think i speak for most Michigan fans when I say that I have no resentment for Tate or the way things have worked out.  Tate got us through a tough year last year doing his job the best he could, and for that I am greatful.  All three quarterbacks deserve praise for working as hard as they did in the off season  to get us to 1-0.   GO BLUE!!

Like I said when it happened, most viewers had a 2-minute lingering shot of Tate on the sideline and presumed that he was totally giving up on the team.  Personally, I saw it more as a kid watching the field at the end of the game, realizing that he lost his position and needed to work hard to get it back, and taking stock of how he got there.  Maybe a bit naive, but I fully expect Tate to be 100% for this team going forward and for him to save this team at least once during the season.

You have to realize how embarrassing this must be for Tate.  He was kind of a rock star after the first 4 games last season.  He started all our games.  To go from that to 3rd string has to be a difficult pill to swallow.  All his friends and relatives (and girls) must be texting and calling him and asking him about it all the time.  I know I would have a hard time dealing with it and I'm 30 years old, I can't imagine what it would've been like at his age.  Now that he was caught on TV for a moment sulking or being disappointed, the amount of feedback he must be getting has to be insane.  I really feel bad for him, but only if he's using this as motivation to bust his ass and bring his skills to this football team on a daily basis.  I hope that TV moment was really just that, a singular moment, and completely out of context, and that Tate's mindset is very different from what the media want(s)(ed) to portray.

Apparently that was in the original article but there is video of Tate singing The Victors with the team. Sam and Ira were too polite to mention it, but I will: Why do "journalists" like to JUST MAKE SHIT UP?
