Semi OT: Tennessee loses to Missouri

Submitted by Wolvmarine on

Tennessee has lost to Missouri 48-51 to remain winless in SEC play.  Tennessee is now 4-6 with the final two games being @Vandy and vs Kentucky.  They must win both to go to a bowl game.   This is only SemiOT thanks to the relevance in the Derrick Green Sweepstakes.  Dooley is now another step closer to a pink slip, or should I say, an orange slip.

This means that we could see two teams Michigan is competing with most for Derrick Green, both not go to bowl games and fire their coaching staffs.

Mmmm Hmmm

I'm having a hard time seeing Derek Dooley coaching there next year, but who knows.  Aside from a high-octane offense and looking like Mike Florio from profootballtalk.com, I am not sure what else he has going for him.

More like Derek Don'tley, amirite?!?

In all seriousness, I feel a little bad for Dooley, since I feel like he was thrust into an untenable situation after Tennesee whiffed on their main targets in the aftermath of the FULMER SITUATION, but this has been on the wall since he called out the team for Shower Problems.

but it's even more tasty since Derek Dooley is a perfect example of somebody who's gotten a nice job solely on the basis of his family name. If you look at his resume, there is literally nothing on it that would indicate he was deserving of getting any BCS-level HC job, let alone a former power like Tennessee. His sole experience as a HC was three years at La Tech, where he compiled a sparkling record of 5-7, 8-5, 4-8. If his dad was an anonymous insurance salesman instead of Vince Dooley, his phone would never have gotten a single call from Knoxville.

You always have the chance that The team in question hires an awesome head coach and players sign with the hype, like Urban Meyer last off season.

Haven't liked Dooley since all that crap with DeAnthony Arnett transferring. I hope Dooley gets canned soon. Bring back some pride to Tennessee after the embarrassments that have been the Kiffin and Dooley eras.

If I said, the sec might ask tenn through bak channels to find a new conference. Would you call me crazy. Football been mediocre or worst, basketball imploding from knucklehead coach. Pat retires, probably means gball gonna decline. Their SB program is still solid but not the elite program in the sec anymore. What do they offer?

After reading the rivals article and his comments about one of the most important parts of his visit being "watching how they use their running backs." I am less confident. Hopefully he gets to see this week or last weeks offense. I know the coaches are likely telling him things will change, but I can see where that is a big risk to take for a kid coming out of high school.
