Man, that Purdue-Rutgers home and home next year is can't-miss-television.
Here was Ace's reaction to me informing him of that scheduling note-
Blood just spurted out of my eyes. MT @WolverinesMike @[me] Purdue plays Rutgers TWICE next year… http://www.bigten.org/blog/2014/02/2014-15-big-ten-mens-basketball-matchups-set.html …

There leading scorer is gone because he is a senior. Their second leading scorer, Ronnie, is leaving to transfer. I actually feel bad for them...

If it was Indiana it would just be funny. Btw have you guys seen that pic of Tom Crean yet?!

I remember when Matt Painter was a hot coaching name and Missouri wanted him. I can't believe how things have fizzled out there.

He inherited a stacked SIU team from Weber and was only there a year before Purdue hired him away (and Chris Lowery proceeded to run the Salukis into the ground). Then he lucked into eight years of Robbie Hummel.

Lowery was a finalist for the job here in 2007 (along with Kevin Stallings of Vandy and of course Beilein).
So glad we avoided him.
*9 ...it was 9 years of Hummel.

54yr old Robbie Hummel ain't walking thru that door. But, 54yr old Associate Professor of Magical Eligibility Robbie Hummel, is leaving the door open a crack.

54 year old Robbie Hummel tore his ACL walking through that door.

And then tore his other one limping away.

I actually felt bad for the kid, but those two comments made me laugh.

With both Johnsons gone, where will the 35 floaters per game come from?
March 14th, 2014 at 11:48 PM ^
When I think of the Boilermakers, I think of Johnsons. Now Purdue Pete isn't even going to have one Johnson? Odd.
March 15th, 2014 at 12:27 AM ^
A few years ago he had 3.

Yeah, I know. With the loss of Ronnie, I guess Purdue is going to have to change their unofficial motto of "All your Johnsons belong to us."
Painter essentially threw his team under the bus recently, in a pretty passive aggressive way. He was all "It's my fault. I haven't recruited guys who have heart, are good at basketball, and have brains. So it's MY fault. Don't blame my team for being terrible. They can't help it."
Wow. That is posterboard material.
He threw them under the bus, backed over them and went forward again just for good measure.
#FIRED.
Way to inspire your team Coach.
That is when the players start playing for pride and hope the new coach is better.
I think most places would oblige.

I think Painter is gone. Had he not thrown the players under the bus I believe he would have had one more year but that program is going downhill fast.

This is addition by subtraction imo. Those Johnson brothers are ball-stoppers and killed any potential for ball movement in any Purdue game that I saw. More minutes for Raphael Davis, Kendall Stephens and Bryson Scott and they bring in another highly touted 7 footer for wheh Hammonds is saddled to the bench. I think they finish middle of the pack next year and get a NIT bid.

too bad - I enjoy watching once proud programs suck

You can check out anytime you like,
But you can never leave!
Are they going to show those Rutgers-Purdue games on tape delay so that small children and pregnant women aren't unexpectedly ambushed by them?
