Semi OT: Question about student tickets for the game
I'm a recent alum going to the game on Saturday. I'm pretty excited for it, it'll probably be the only game I can get back for this year. I have a student ticket that isn't "validated". I do have my old ID card also though. My question is whether having the card is enough, or does security do any sort of scanning or checking of the actual ID cards to get in with a student ticket?
Thanks.

visual check on the card. You'll be fine if the person on the card is you.

Its me, thanks.

You'd be fine if the person on the card wasn't you probably.

As a seasoned veteran of the pass-back I can confirm that people of all races and genders have gained entry to games using my Mcard.

Whenever I had friends come visit I would go in first and just hand my m-card to them through the fence. Then they would just put their thumb over my picture. Worked like a charm every time.

Great question. I also have my old MCard circa 1998-2002 but never thought it would work in this scenario. Glad to know that it does.

I think the cards have changed somewhat since then, so those might not work. I know they added Ann Arbor to the card.

If it's one of the old white ones, it won't work - they're maize now.

To piggy back off this thread...for current students, what is the ticket market looking like for this weekend? Also known as, should I even bother asking a friend to look for me is just scalping a ticket for $5 before the game the better bet based on how few people appear to be going to this game?

The market is flooded with tickets. A quick search on Facebook showed a ton of tickets going for much less than face value. You could get a ticket for $10 right now, and most likely $5 before the game.

Thanks, a paper has left me avoiding checking facebook, but that'll be the next place I look once it is safe.

Be careful waiting all the way until right before the game for student tickets. Since it is fall break, the students selling the tickets will be students going home for the weekend. They won't be standing outside the stadium trying to make 5 bucks- they'll be home begging mommy and daddy for 50 instead.

FWIW in 2003 I got my girlfriend-now-wife into the game with an unvalidated ticket by scanning an MCard, changing the image to have her face, and then printing it out and putting it in one of the card holders they gave the freshmen. I don't know if they still have those card holders or make you take the card out, but it worked just fine back then.

Good to know you learned something at school.

This is very much on-topic.

I wasn't sure though just b/c it isn't actually football play related.

I have two MCards just for ease.... With 100% identical names, I've brought my brother in right behind me, checked in from the same guy. No need to cover anything up
Hell, for the EMU game this season my buddy used my old MCard and showed it to the ticket-checker upside-down (he was paranoid despite my assurances)... the dude didn't even ask for it to be shown face-up. They really don't care.
