Semi OT: Plight of the Wolverine

This is some kind of sad news, it strikes me as odd that the feds can basically turn their backs on a species by not naming it endangered. The fact that they can be sued for that is also news to me. At first I didnt really understand why the government would make a deliberate ruling against such a cardinal species. Then I thought about if I were a conservationalist. I probably would rather not work exclusively with a species that was willing and able to chew my arm off.

They don't "just do it."  There's a process to be followed.  The article states that the wolverine is on the Candidates list, meaning it will be evaluated in due time, when its turn comes.  Not sure what the actual complaint is here.

to be considered.  As I said, it doesn't happen by fiat, there's a process.  Still not understanding what your complaint is.

300 of them is not a lot, but they tend to live in obscure places and are unlikely to be in any immediate danger.  The difference between being added to the Endangered Species list now versus a couple years from now isn't particularly meaningful.

...me out, please.  Was this:

Then I thought about if I were a conservationalist.

...supposed to be "...were a conservationist" or "...were a conversationalist"?
