Oh, it's on now
this may be of some local interest
Oh, it's on now
I know it's all in good fun - but I would have liked to see someone blindside him with his arms in the air!
/s (maybe :P)
You're right, gotta respect the guts. But it sounds like it'll be the only time Michigan fans hear his name.
Except, of course, when Canteen blows past him, as you mentioned.
Yeah, 3 star DBs never produce in college and certainly never end their careers at OSU by getting drafted in the first round...
Also, implying that the rankings mean the kid will never produce seems a bit counterintuitive, since Canteen was also a camp offer that 247 ranked lower than this kid, but what do I know?
did you bother to read the article yourself, or just come on here to troll?
The comment I blockquoted was from an OSU fan..who questioned the recruitment of this kid...
You may be RationalBuckeye, but not everyone in your fanbase is.
JMFR was a 3-star - he turned out ok...Kovacs was a walk-on - he wasn't terrible. /s
so I certainly know the value of lower-ranked guys.
I wasn't responding to the article, I was responding the "sounds like this is the last time we'll hear his name".
I get that the op quoted an OSU fan, and I certainly acknowledge the vast number of morons in every fan base, but my point was in response to the comment that since he's a lower rated player, he gets written off veritably when he still has. Year before he even gets into camp.
...and I question the use of the word veritably in that context. :) Sorry, couldn't resist. /s
Thanks for the clarification. Makes better sense now...
Haha fair enough, I'm typing hastily from my phone at work.
And to anyone questioning my username, it was a response to the 11w poster "rationalmfan" from a few years ago that brought a constructive point of view to an opposing board.
ha unfortunately thats possible and meyers def one of those dirtbags who operates like that - but its also why he wins, hell do whatever it takes to put the best team on the field. however i certainly hope that scenario does not play out with this particular kid green bc hes got some stones to roll like that at um - id never root for someone to fail or get screwed over by guys like meyer so hopefully hes a solid player (all but 1 week per year, just not good enough to beat um)
Funny you should scold us for such things, since Urban Meyer will be the first in line to write this kid off should he find a better replacement.
Then again, "RationalBuckeye" may be anything but rational. But it is interesting that a Buckeye fan would have to refer to himself as "raional," as if he were admiting that most Buckeye fans are not.
As for the kid, the move was classless, but what would one expect from a Buckeye?
well, its all relatvie. Personally, I don't think it was classless. It was brash and cocky. Falls in line with the rivalry. But if he, or any other buckeye fan, would not expect some sort of retort, verbal, written or otherwise, is silly.
just a kid being a kid. I see nothing wrong with it. As far as rationalbuckeye's exasperation goes..... I think it should be expected that Michigan fans would have some negative reactions, with some of the reactions based on emotion more so than facts, when they are discussing the action amongst fellow fans. I seriously doubt that rationalbuckeye would be all that offended to such a comment from an OSU fan if the situation had been reversed. ironically, I find the tone of rationalbuckeye's comments to this board to be generally pretty irrational as he seems to forget where he is at.
(logged in to downvote)
and he'll be in the ohio honors program /s
Ohio fans are going to eat this up. I personally couldn't care less.
yesterday (dont recall where) while I was looking for Browns news (born in Ferndale, raised in Cleveland) and most of the OSU fans I saw talking about it seemed to think this kid was in for a visit and showed up in OSU garb. Their response was predictable, and they weren't happy when I informed them the kid was in AA for SMSB and not a campus visit. Of course, it took a while for me to explain it to them, but still...
This immediately made me think of Spongebob and this:
Reminds me of the time I had to explain this image to an OSU fan:
try that one out with your OSU fans and see how that goes.
He was in Ann Arbor for the Michigan camp.
"throw up" is certainly the right word here....
"throw up" is certainly the right word here....
heard of him! whatever
how many wins OSU will have against Michigan during his career.
He had his shirt on inside out for most of the day out of respect, according to the Michigan 247 site. I doubt he's trying to incite anything
Hard to know intent of a 16-17 year old, but the twitter posts are certainly leading me to a different conclusion.
His twitter post was in the actual article. I personally don't even have a twitter. I'm old, and I don't like it.
Wasn't trying to incite anything? If that was the case, he wouldn't have done it at all.
I don't get riled up for stuff like this (in fact, this is the type of 'clean' rivalry antics that I enjoy most), but to say he didn't do it to get a rise out of people (Michigan or OSU) is simply naive.
Incite anything? I hope no one actually thinks that. This is college football. It has now real impact on anyone except those playing/coaching it. It's all good fun, and that's what rivalries are about. I feel like anyone taking it more seriously needs to think hard about their priorities in life.
As does somebody who says "fuck this kid."
I think it's naive to think he wasn't trying to incite something...but that's a part of being in this rivalry. It goes both ways and there's no harm in it. I'm sure he is expecting a little backlash from Michigan fans and a bunch of them will certainly oblige. Michigan recruits have done their fair share of inciting the fans too. Instant acceptance by your future fanbase before ever making a play on the field...not a bad move.
Yeah, definitely not trying to incite anything...
I always hated on it until I tried it. Now I won't ever go back-so comfy.
Have more in common than just love of all things UM.
I definitely laughed when reading this because my wife rolls her eyes at me too. Sandals year round baby! And if it's cold out, socks and sandals!!
Although I'm always managing the kids and say get your slippers and she darts in the room that they're sandals.
Aren't sandals... Where is the heel strap? No heel strap, not a sandal.
I like this kind of stuff. I think it is a fun lighthearted side to the rivalry. Shane takes the cake with that pic thougj
This is unsubstantiated, but June and Howard were at the camp:
Cato June and Todd Howard gave that Ohio State commit the business at Michigan camp yesterday. Told him to use his shirt for toilet paper.

June also tweeted this himself:

Note: @tncuniversity = Todd Howard
Who gives a shit? Fuck this kid.
"Fuck this kid."
This goes right near the top of the list of Things That Should Never, Ever Be Said.
Agreed. It took me a second, but you are absolutely correct.
I like the fact that the kid has the balls to get it on in Ann Arbor. That's the kind of thing that makes rivalries special.
Respectfully disagree here, it isn't like anyone is going to physically hurt this kid for wearing that shirt. Verbal ribbing, sure, but it isn't like he was in actual danger so I don't think it necessarily took courage to do this.
F*** this guy, too.
I've been looking for a reason to hate Ohio State for years. Finally, I have it.
It took this long to find a reason to hate Ohio State? Where have you been.....
At least he won't be receiving a flood of death threats like if he'd trolled Ohio State.
He is wearing blue socks.
Ohio State recruits have to come to Michigan's camp to learn how to play football.
Except doing the "O" by itself makes you look like a ballerina. So there's that.
Yeah...and ballerinas who wear Nike flip-flops are going to have major, major foot problems later on in life. So take that, Tyler Green!
Is that what that is? I always thought it was supposed to be a toilet seat in honor of the stadium. You know, the kind in public bathrooms where the seat doesn't quite go all the way around the front.
I'm a fan of it. If this were a Michigan commit doing this at OSU we'd all be singing his praises. It doesn't seem like he was an asshole all day or whatever, after it was all done he decided to take a harmless picture repping the school he's going to play for.
In his defense, he ain't come here to play school.
In related news, here's a pic of his Mom showing her team spirit.
That's a bit below the belt.
And apparently a bit over your head. That's not really his mom, genius. It's a stock photo of an OSU fan that's been circulating for years.
The next pic shows him with Sally Struthers trying to get him a sandwhich.
Rich Rodriguez would have been all over this kid as a box safety, and I bet there are a number of people on this board who would be excited about him. He played corner last year and is listed at 6'3", 195 lbs. He's not an otherworldly athlete, but he's big and strong with decent speed. I don't really see him fitting what Michigan wants to do (which is perhaps one reason why they haven't offered, but he has decent skills.
Magnus throwin' it down!
he could have faced the other way next to the H and the I in the end zone and actually started to spell something.
Still, a bold move.
Move his o to the left of the ''I'' and start spelling OIHO.
OSU fans had their panties in a bunch over the Malzone tweet a week ago, now they think this is awesome. Meanwhile Michigan fans have no issue with either and think it adds to the rivalry.
"Fuck this kid" and "This kid must die" show that at least some Michigan fans have an issue with it. Ideally, of course, everyone on both sides would take your "Whatever...it's kids having fun" approach.
THE KID MUST DIE...or at least like loose The Game this year
so you can't edit, but "loose?" Really??
He was speaking from the perspective of the stupid fans who freak out over such meaningless gestures of rivalry.
Sorry to diminish your sense of superiority Kimosabe.
If so, then yeah my bad. But if you think that I'm trying to demonstrate any superiority over someone with regards to the difference between lose and loose, then you don't know me very well.
I flew into Seattle yesterday (of course I was wearing my 'Michigan Football' T-Shirt.. I ran into a guy wearing an Ohio State T-Shirt and, in light of Seattle being the home of Macklemore, I asked the Ohio State fan about his shirt:
"Pick that up at a thrift shop?"
There is no way that guy connected the dots from We're in Seattle ---> Macklemore's from Seattle ---> Macklemore dropped "Thrift Shop" ---> My reference to a stranger was clever.
Have to agree. Same reason why I didn't mind when Malzone said that it wouldn't be the last time he left Columbus happy a few weeks ago. I will start to worry when the fan bases and players stop doing these types of things to each other.
And it's the little things like this that make it so.
Well done young man.
And hopefully this is the last time you leave Ann Arbor this happy.
Hands on your head Steve Urkel. Your under arrest!
This is what you're supposed to do in a rivalry.
Think about how much it would suck if OSU decided their legitimate B1G football rival was Sparty and only did this kind of thing directed at them. I'm happy to still be considered relevant.
I can't wait until November 29th...when Michigan wins at the Toilet seat.
I have a good feeling about this year and yes I realize I have nothing to do with what happens on the field.
Who care's...F**k Ohio
Outside of a little land Ohio stole from Michigan there is no reason to actually hate Ohio. Oh how I Hate Ohio State is in fun, not a presumed life style choice. A kid commited to Ohio State reping his future school is exactly what should be done. Anyone remember Shane Morris in all Michigan gear while at an Ohio camp? Or how about the burning of an Ohio State recruiting letter? These things are not Khrushchev banging his shoe at the UN over American Imperialism. It is a kid with his hands over his head making the universal sign for A-hole.
If so, the convo nowadays would go... "You take it." "No, you take it." "No, YOU take it..." etc
This is a low level kid who was just looking for some attention that he didn’t get on the recruiting trail. I applaud him… because it definitely worked. He has the Ohio State and Michigan fan base now talking about him.
Though I don’t like some of our harshly negative comments. I’m sure his friends, family or OSU players have told him about this thread. He’s probably still visiting and reading the comments. Good one, kid. We’ll see you on the field.
Now win the game.
I would. I'd also sentence all users to prison.
As for the pic; huh, I bet UM is going to try to beat OSU now.
