Oregon State good a pretty good coach...we"ll see if the ''well it's Oregon State'' thing holds true for Anderson like every Nebraska fan says about Mike Riley and why he couldn't do any better than 9-4.

about 4 or 5 times last fall thanks to late night Pac12 games and DVR.  They lose their all-time leading passing QB, with little proven back-up.

They make plays on offense, but are prone to big mistakes.  The defense as mentioned above is pretty average to below average.

Out of the Pac12 North they are solid #5 or #6 team going into this fall, I'd say Washington State is in better shapen heading into the year.

I agree with most of what's already been said, but their QB does look like a gamer. I'm sure some of that had to do with the not-so-great defense as well, but him hurdling that dude was pretty impressive.

Let's lose our minds cause we see highlights from the Spring Game! People are seeming to forget that it is just that. Take solace in the fact that our team will be going through camp in August with Harbaugh, and they will  be prepared.

Hey don't be so EMO! ;)

Truthfully it is one of the best P5 conf matchups for UM.  If it was a loss I'd consider it a very very bad loss.  They are breaking in a new coaching staff, breaking in a new QB, have a very average to below average D, and are traveling 3k miles which as you see with UM when they go out west matters.

If you believe our staff is better (which if it is not is quite ludicrous) combined with our HS Starz which is nowhere near Oregon State's level, and at home - this one should be as close to a no brainer as you can get for a P5.

I have BYU as the swing game in the non conf (I had Utah last year).  Utah projects to a loss (I don't see us favored - but of the 4 games that is the one you point to and say we are the biggest disadvatage), and UNLV a win.  BYU has the superior QB, an established system/coach, and none of the transition issues Oregon State has.

Oregon State is probably 8th or 9th if you put all the teams we play this year in a ranking of talent.  So if we lose to them - at home - its a long season.

Oregon State had the same record last year that we did.

One thing I noticed as I briefly checked in on a few other spring games:  A lot of the teams had a LOT of big plays.  It could be that a lot of teams have defensive issues.  I know that we did last time we had an explosive spring game.

Nothing OSU does against their own defense really means that much until we know how good their defense is.  My educated guess here is not very.

Most likely a combination of defensive lapses + offense skill players with speed + playmaking ability.   When you have speed you can exploit a mistake a lot more then when you don't.

Why do you think OSU's D is not going to be very good?  Ash came in last year and improved their pass D (their main issue) big time.  They have a very good D line headed by an All American.  Their very young LB core of last year has some experience now as does the secondary.  It is loaded with 4 stars sprinkled with a few 5s.  Why would it not be top 4?
