Semi-OT: Fox Sports Writer Calls Urban Meyer Out For His Hypocrisy

Submitted by EastCoast Esq. on

This Foxsports writer blasts Urban Meyer for his hypocritical book about instilling a culture of discipline. Calls O'Reilly out for letting Urban off the hook by implying that he would have kicked Jameis Winston off the team....even though Urban once let a player get away with murder.

Urban Meyer criticizes FSU's handling of Jameis Winston. sets impressive new bullshit record on Fox News: https://t.co/wxq5eJz04R

Let a guy get away with murder is very much the Same as saying Brady Hoke and the entire UM administration let Gibbons Rape a student and then encouraged Lewan to further terrorize her by threating her with more rape and bodily harm. Except the only crime that has been proven for sure is the rape and cover-up. Maybe the OP should post some articles about that. It is a UM football story. You could post it with a flashy title . Something like " UM raping off the field while getting raped on it" http://archive.freep.com/article/20140225/NEWS06/302250086/gibbons-fede…

This guy. ...here to defend all things Urban and OSU then post half truths slammimg UofM. Weird because the A2 police never escalated their investigation to any charges against Gibbons or Lewan THE Holier Than Thou. (emphasis on THE so you can feel better about yourself ). GTFO

more or less the O'Reilly interview which during the highlighted segment enables Meyer to get away with a throwaway statement about Winston's behavior for discipline and the fact that he would have punished it. saying it would be hard to let go, and no followup from O'Reilly regarding his actual "issues" at both Florida and Ohio State that he subsequently acknowledges.

The article can skewer Meyer all it wants, but Meyer himself sought to massage the record being portrayed without going deeper into by it by O'Reilly who was simply using Meyer's public personality as a boost for his show while the OSU coach wanted to promote his new book on the Buckeye's championship team of a year ago. So, the issues that never get discssed become the focal point of the Travis piece that O'Reilly never covers because he isn't in attack mode, and we learn nothing more as a result. The failure here is on the interviewer's part, not the subject.

Whether Meyer is a hypocrit or not, he clearly doesn't want to be grilled about his past player issues at Florida involving Hernandez, but he does try to cover the bases by suggesting that no team has a "Camelot" program of socially and culturally well-behaved guys. Here's my response to that remarkable candor, No shit.

Sound like a bunch of whining losers. UFM is the best coach in football and is 46-3 with a Big 10 Championship, Nat' l Championship, the longest win streak in FBS, undefeated in conference play for Four year now, Currently Ranked No.1, and well on his way to another playoff appearance. Best of all is UM still sucks. By the way, good game losing to the best team in Michigan for the 7th time in a row. Here are some highlights. Uploaded with Imgupr

"Come the fuck on." Really surprised they let their writers publish stuff like that on Fox. I mean, I swear plenty, and it's great to see some unique writing on this here blog, but I don't recall seeing a writer here swear except in a podcast.  You'd think an outlet like Fox Sports would want to be a little more professional than that.

The above article interviews an NFL scout that spoke to people at the University of Florida. That's just the first article I searched because I had a few spare minutes here at work. It was evident that Hernanzdez was a piece of shit at Florida yet Urban Meyer let him run amuck anyway

The above article discusses 31 arrests during his tenure at Florida. Dude ran the dictionary definition of a renegade program.

And in 2007... http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/07/03/massachusetts-authoriti…

"A witness to the shooting does not identify Hernandez by name, but the witness said the shooter was a “‘Hawaiian’ or ‘Hispanic’ male who had a large muscular build, stood about 6-foot-3 or 6-foot-4, weighed about 230 or 240 pounds and had a lot of tattoos.”

Here’s the relevant portion of the police report: “As they were waiting for the light to change, the Hawaiian football player and Reggie Nelson walked up to their car on the right side. Then without saying a work [sic], the Hawaiian pointed a small handgun in the front right window and fired five quick shots. [Randall] Cason saw [Corey] Smith slump over with blood coming out of the back of the head, at which time the Hawaiian and Nelson took off running towards McDonald’s.”

Cason later explained to police that, earlier in
the week, his brother had gotten into an
altercation with several Florida football players. Hernandez, Nelson, and Mike and Maurkice Pouncey had been in a Gainesville nightclub on the night of the shooting — even though Hernandez was still only 17 at the time.

According to the police report, Hernandez declined to talk to investigators, invoking his right to have counsel present.

is that he has an insane ego. If he isn't the best or perceived to be the best he runs away. Saban ran him out of the SEC, etc. Yet, he isn't anything but a very good HC. I'll never not admit that. However, the difference between UF and osu is that he knows he can give half effort in the B1G (currently, especially currently) and win. He had ties to osu but he'd have taken it if he didn't. Why? Again it comes down to his ego and knowing he won't have to recruit felons to win. He won't have to do half the things he knew he was doing at UF to win. The question is this: If Michigan returns to being MICHIGAN under Harbaugh - a man with an energy, work ethic, MORALS and resume' - does Meyer return to "urbz" status? Will Harbaugh be his Saban if he gets Michigan back up there? Will he leave? Will he again start breaking every literal and/or ethical rule to gain an edge like at UF? I think he truly learned lessons from his time there but will he stick to them when a star player should get cut or a big recruit is truly a bad kid? We know msu lives by "any means necessary" regarding the rivalry with us. Brandish a gun? You're suspended until we play Michigan, etc. Meyer has been FAR more strict at osu so far but he knows he can afford to at the moment. Will he if/when he'll need every player he has vs a truly returned Michigan? That's the question as even osu fans know he's slimy. PS: funny how every osu fan HATRED GOODS GUTS until he was their HC, huh? They never mention that now. osu fans used to visit the UF Scout Forum to talk shit more than FSU and Georgia fans did when Meyer was at UF. They absolutely hated him to a man. osu board had year old threads about their hatred for him and was one of the few things they would joke along with Michigan fans about. Always a topic of friendly conversation in those years. Funny to me...
