End of an era. Peace to her and the former Pres.
For Grand Rapids.
She lived a long life and that is what we all want before passing. As M-Dog said it, peace to her and former President Mr. Ford.
President Ford became president in the most unique way under our constitution, one that will likely never happen again. Mrs. Ford was a great First Lady despite the brief time the Ford administration was in office.
I had the honor of photographing President Ford's funeral in Grand Rapids and respected the opportunity to see Mrs. Ford, albeit from my camera's telephoto lens, and will cherish that memory forever.
Go Blue!
RIP Mrs. Ford
RIP Mrs Ford - If my memory is working tonight I voted for Mr Ford for his election vs Jimmy Carter. I did that and I'm a democrat(if I can say that on the board). Mrs Ford was very brave in coming out about her addiction problems in public.
A great woman, she did a lot for women's rights as First Lady and after President Ford left office. Rest In Peace.
What a great lady. As a former Ford Schooler and GRPhi member, it would be a sin not to post this picture
I love that picture.
Fellow Fordie, and that's the best photo in Weill Hall. And she's pretty much the star of that place.
This is one of my other favorite Betty Ford pictures (President & Mrs. Ford thowing a football in the halls of Bethesda Naval Hospital):

On a Friday so he wouldn't miss the UM v. Northwestern game. (per NYT obit.)
She had held it all together throughout Gerry's funeral activities until she got off the plane in Grand Rapids to find the MMB there to play the Victors.
Watching the Wolverines from up there, in the best seats in the house. RIP.
May Jerry and Betty be happy forever.
Truly an individual who made her personal battles public, in order to help others, a humanitarian indeed. You will be missed.
In my last place of residence I would walk past Jerry's grave at least once a week. Nice place, and it looks like his lovely bride is coming home soon.
In my current place of residence, I could light a cigar and stroll down to Grace Episcopal before it went out, where I'm certain this funeral will be. Happens to be very near where I grew up.
I appreciate the Ford family. May they rest in peace.
As another Fordie (actually an IPPSter, but that dates me a bit), I also pass on my respects to the Ford family. Betty Ford was a great woman, with the courage to give outspoken support to issues that were contrary to the direction her husband's party was headed. She will be missed.
...WXYZ.
RIP Mrs. Ford a great first lady who made a remarkable impact.
