selling free tickets for money?!?
I have noticed recently, while searching for UM season tickets on the secondary market, that people are selling their FREE spring game tickets for money! I have seen some as high as $30 a ticket for section 1 row 51. This guy in GR was selling some on craigslist for $25. I cannot even begin to describe my disgust for people that are doing this. If you don't plan on going to the game and have seats on the sideline why not give them away to someone that would actually use them and enjoy the experience.

Knew that was a bad idea on the part of the AD.
I can't believe somebody would take advantage of college athetlics in order to make a quick buck.
This special Tostitos "take a break out of your day" message brought you to by the new 2011 Ford Focus -- Now available for under $18K. Sponsored by Nike. Available at all Walmart locations nationwide. Brought to you by your friendly neighbors at StateFarm. BP.
The financial situation in Michigan? Call me whatever you want but if I was unable to go and didn't have a close friend who wanted to go I'd totally sell them if someone was willing to buy them...
Wow.
Which is why it should be free, no-tickets, open to everyone.
1) So people negatively effected by said lousy economy can attend the game.
2) So that scalpers will not make money INTENDED FOR A CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL.

You do realize it is free, open to everyone and you don't need a ticket.
If points were accumulating, I would order a negbang on you right here and now and send your sorry a-- right to Bolivian. Selling free tickets is bush-league.
Ah, but would you then jump to represent the newest Bolivian resident?
If so, it would appear that you are attempting to drum up business for yourself...

This was a very good post, but the "/s" at the end pretty much killed it.
Fucking lawyers, man, buncha ambulance-chasers. Or whatever you ride in when you're deported to Bolivia.

Selling free tickets is bush league.
How about just donating them to a school, as a door prize for charity, to a co-worker who has a kid interested in football...list pretty endless.
If I could neg...I would neg.
The economy sucks and you want to charge somebody for free seats. Why not give them to somebody sitting in the endzone with his 2 kids and make their day. Could be the only game they see all year!
Or they could just show up and walk in for free. The spring game is never going to sell out.
It is a reasonable assumption that one will be able to move from the endzone to a better seat.
That doesn't make the ticket idea any less asinine.
Here is the weather forecast for Ann Arbor for Saturday:
Rain / Snow Showers
42°
34°
That, above all else, will tell you how many people will come out to this game. I think anybody that wants a good seat is going to have one. Anybody that sells tickets that are free for an event that is mostly designed to support the team and to benefit a charity should get their priorities straightened out - whether the economy is good or not.
Keeping people out of the empty "premium seats" when the Stadium is over half empty due to weather. It was a stupid idea from the start, especially when you're trying to raise money for charity.
My son Is a Diehard Nebraska fan and wants to see Mich-Nebraska game for his 21st birthday gift if anyone has tickets for sale let me know. Thanx Me being diehard Michigan makes it just that much sweeter as a dad, go blue.
you suck
That always happens with free tickets. Honestly, there are some assholes in the world. I think they should have made a $5 donation to Motts mandatory with each ticket. That way, you don't get these people just collecting free ones and trying to resell, and it raises some money but is still affordable for families.
Making the tickets $5 instead of $0 would not have prevented scalping. It would have raised more money for Motts, as you said, but how would that stop people from taking more than they need and selling the rest for profit?
Who wants to take the chance that they're going to spend money on tickets that they may or may not be able to sell?
Hang out outside of Comerica Park on any given home game night and you'll find out.
i took the max of 10 after asking some friends if they wanted to go. Now they have all backed out because of potential weather....i have great seats in section 1 but would never consider selling them. but ill will tell people where they are if they need better seats.
with that being said i have between 5 and 8 seats that have potentional to be offerend to anyone that may want them.
lower rows section 1
Myself, gf, brother, mother, and father are going to the game. We have crumby seats in section 18. Hook a brother up?
email me at ryanc AT kmfoodconcepts.com
Hey bringing my 8 year old son down to the Big house for the first time. Before I could get tickets they were all sold or I guess given out. If you had any extras I'd be happy to take them off your hands.
email me (look up), i dont want to have a free for all for the seats
I'll give you $20 each for them!
Whew, not that I've got tickets taken care of, I should see what's going on in the rest of this thread.
In seriousness, though, I'm bummed to not be in town this year, it was a lot of fun to go last year, especially to catch a glimpse of what Denard could do!
Very nice! How much?
Free tickets and money are two of my favorite things. I try to get both as often as possible. However, I would definitely not take free tickets and sell them, ESPECIALLY not to a fellow Michigan fan! That's ridiculous and those people should be brought to MGoJustice. I sure hope we don't have any MGoMembers doing sh-t like that . . .
wouldnt happen in america
It may just be that I'm a scumbag, but I don't see much difference in marking up a $0 ticket to $25 or $30 and marking up a $85 OSU ticket to $200. It's the nature of the scalpers market. If some morons are really willing to pay $25 for a ticket they could have gotten themselves for $0 or could just show up and walk in for free, so be it.
I feel the same way towards ticket brokers that eat up available season tickets just to sell on the secondary market. Check out ebay right now. It is ridiculous the prices they are charging right now. $300 plus per seat for UM/ND.
I don't have an issue with someone that sells their seat and is just recouping their investment. A season ticket has a face value but they also pay a PSD or a renewal every year.
I think the biggest problem that people have is that the spring game is an annual fund raiser for the Mott Children's Hospital. Selling a free ticket for cash ultimately puts money in your pocket that could have been given as a donation to a good cause.
I am in NYC and will not make it, but are there not plenty of good seats available? Just get in and move and save the money for the hospital. Is it worth it to take money from the hospital?
I'm willing to pay maybe $10 each for decent seats, say between the 20's & no more than 1/3 of the way up. If I can get some freebies, I'll stick the money in the Mott's bucket instead.
if you looked like your avatar you could sit on my lap
A lil duct tape and surgery, some razors--and VOILA! Va Va VOOM!
How YOU doin?
you'd have to fight ME to get to me. Wait, that's kinda creepy I guess. .
will verify with those that said they were going tomorrow. Two shouldn't be a problem and my seats are in section 44 row 30. If everyone's not going there yours for a donation to Mott. Email GoBlueFanSCP at aol dot com.
With tickets being sold and the expectation of bad weather, I am starting to have a really hard feeling that these tickets will actually been enforced. Of course, that will be even worse for the people who actually did buy the tickets. This whole thing is just messy.
I have 6 on row 5 section 21. I may not go due to the weather so if anyone wants dibs give me your email and I'll send them to you. I'll probably decide when I get a better idea of the weather for Saturday.

<br>Let me know
I don't understand how this is such a shock to some people. Do you not remember the Free monday night game in detroit where people were going up and taking the max amount of tickets and then selling them on the street. Any time there is something free someone takes advantage of the situation and sells it.
I have 4 mediocre tickets, Section 43, Row 89, Seats 17-20 that I will be unable to use. If anybody actually wants them, I'll send them to you free of charge. Just email my throwaway email address, ____and they're yours.
EDIT: Tickets are gone and emailed to a young MGoBlogger
HOW DARE US DIVIDE MICHIGAN
Wait, do we actually have to get tickets to the Spring Game? I thought it was just walk-in?
I knew there were tickets, but are they required? I need to know this!
but you will be directed toward the end zone sections without tickets.
You will likely be able to move to better seats once inside........
