Selection Sunday Thread

Submitted by Michiganfootball13 on

Today at 6pm is the Men's Selection Sunday event.  I thought I'd make a thread about it now because they have already started their bracketology session on ESPN.  This thread is to discuss what seed and where Michigan will be playing and to talk about all other teams in or on the bubble.

I believe that Michigan will be 4 seed out west or a 3 seed in Auburn Hills if the selection committee understands that we only have one bad loss.

here is what ESPN thinks as of today (I don't know what I think about this since they have Wisconsin trending down even though they just beat Michigan and Indiana back to back)... http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/bracketology

Here is what a writer on yahoo thinks the seeds with be... http://sports.yahoo.com/featured/ncaab/bigboard

What seed does everyone else think Michigan will end up as??

EDIT: The mgoblog ESPN Tournament pick'em information...

Password not working for me, I put in "We On!", "We On !", "we on!," "We On", and "we on."  Has it been changed or anything?  Anyone else have this problem?

On top of UW late. They're showing a ton of intensity and grit, and they've handled Indiana and MSU twice on their current 7- game win streak. Beat UW today and I'm not sure how IU gets a 1 over them. [Now I need a glass of Hemlock.]

Dribbles into traffic, picks up ball, bobbles ball into redribble, into flop on ball with Wisky player having mutual possession. Refs give OSU timeout. Classic

Ha jump ball called. No quick timeout for you Wisky. Love the inconsistency with the refs. Too good

is gonna be excruciating after this BTT game is finished, unless there is an overtime somehow. You never know when Wisc is involved.

If game ends in a couple of minutes, there's gonna be over a 1/2 hour more of gibberish being discussed, i wish they would go directly to the selection show.

I have a feeling we will get fucked in the seeding. I have never been satisfied with our seed going back to the Fab Five being seeded 6 their first year

The UCLA/Duke wins were 4 years ago.  That was the year we were 1-8 in conference before the Aneurysm of Leadership.  And then we caught fire, swept State, what not.  But were still thought to be on the bubble.  And then the committee bumped pretty much every Big Ten team up 2/3 seeds from where we expected.

I've been reading the experts on this blog and from I can gather M must be on the bubble. Going to be exciting once again to see if they get in the tourney.
If M doesn't get in, it's because of Coach B's lack of D the last 30 years, coupled with Coach ignorantly refusing to play zone D

Why do people get all worked up over the suggestion we should play more zone?  I dont get it.  It's not like we're a finely-tuned defensive machine or anything but for reasons that escape me there is a significant (not just you Gordie) board contingent that gets VERY upset at the mere mention of a change in defensive sets.  The funny thing is that if you watched the games over the past couple of days we saw a LOT of teams flip from man to man to zone (and vice versa) when things weren't working so it's not like its a radical concept.

I thought that's what a sports blog was kinda for.....

Jerry Palm updated his bracket one more tim and moved us to the #3 seed in Auburn Hills playing Northwestern State and then the winner of Wichita State / Colorado State. Surviving that, we would then potentially face either Oregon, Iowa State, Georgetown or Iona in the newest projection.

Looking at the Big Ten on a conference level, we are projected to send seven teams per TeamRankings, with 4 of them (Michigan included) as a top 4 seed in various regions. Wisconsin comes in as a potential #5 in their algorithm, then Minnesota as a #8 seed and Illinois at #10.

Busting the Bracket.com (listed above by a poster above as the #6 most reliable bracket predictor has both Michigan and MSU as 3 seeds...so who would end up in Auburn Hills if this happened?

Back when the tournament was on CBS, they wouldn't have NBA clowns trying to chime in about how the MWC was better than the B1G. I know you can watch all the games with Turner / CBS, but there are some negatives to the deal. And one of the negatives, unfortunately, is having Charles Barkley appear on TV and make these dumb comments like the MWC being stronger than the Big 10. Go cover the NBA.
