Secret 4 star recruit no longer visiting...

The title says it all.  Thats a bummer, especially if it was Burbridge.

Edit:  This is from Wolverine Nation

TomVH is rarely late on big news. Now certain insiders have better relationships with different recruits, and they can break a story quicker. Take Kyle Kalis for instance, TomVH broke that story before anyone. Also, go back to Dee Hart, Tom knew he was going to commit here before anyone else did.

Maybe Tom is simply honoring his word to keep the story under wraps until a certain time, and others are violating that same promise to break the story early.  Between Carty and Rosenberg, we definitely learned that the media isn't above lying to teenagers to get a story.

My guess: Tom is "old school" and ethical, and is getting "beaten" on occasion by people who are less than honest to recruits and their parents.

Lets make sure the facts are straight.   There was mention of a 4star recruit, who is currently committed to another school that was contemplating a visit to UM NEXT WEEKEND (the weekend of the 20th).   This 4star recruit did not want his name out there for various reasons that are unknown.   It was not Goodman because his visit was known to be this weekend, the 13th. Muller came out quickly after the allstar game to reaffirm his commitment to Rutgers.  There was no "secret visitor", it was a target who was thinking of visiting but wanted to remain a secret until he decided to visit.

The fact is no one knows who the target is, no one really knows if he will still visit.   So why don't we just focus on what we do know, we have '12 and '13 targets coming in this weekend that would do wonders for our program.  I hope we just leave the posts that focus on speculation to the other boards.

I don't know if this was in jest, but it may be more true than you think.  A recruiting guru we all trust stated that it wasn't supposed to get out, and then it kind of did, and the prospect has basically gone dark.  Kind of sad actually.  At least said recruiting guru actually stayed true to his word and gave no hint whatsoever on who this prospect might be, and only begrudgingly admitted there was such a prospect after it became known from other sites.

I am guessing it was Camren Williams canceling with Armani Reeves.  I am guessing the coaching staff told them that they would no longer be recruiting Williams because we are filled up at Linebacker.  Reeves may have decided that he's not interested if they are a package deal.

It was Andrus "Stefon" Burbridge.  It's too bad he's not coming.  I feel like the coaches could have convinced him to be our next great at the position of receiver tackle.

Can we be required to have 1000 points before we can post?  I'll take the hit for a little longer. Or some kind of MgoExam that prepares us for the posting privledge.

Oh no! The mystery recruit whose identity was not known or confirmed is no longer visiting. Can we really be too disappointed when this might have never even been in the works? I'm not going to lose sleep over cancelled visits that could have lacked validity in the first place.

However, I do like and respect Sam Webb and Tom VH.

... we hardly knew ye.  But ye entered our hearts, so I composed this little ditty for ye:

"Oh, Secret Visiting 4-Star Recruit,

you (almost) came and gave without taking

and (someone evidently) sent you away

Oh ,Secret Visiting 4-Star Recruit"

I mean, if a secret recruit isn't a secret recruit, did it really happen? This is why even teasing this stuff unless you're sure is kinda irresponsible. Shouldn't say "well, I know a secret recruit is coming...but I was told to not say anything...so I'm just saying this."  If they want you to say it, say it, if they don't, don't say anything. Pretty simple. Prevents silliness like this.
