This season.

As some of you might remember, I'm a Michigan State fan (boo! hiss!) but I try to keep up on all of the Big Ten's blogs to see the goings-on around the conference. Mgoblog is a great source of information, so that explains why I'm here. Now, down to brass tacks.

After watching the abysmal Utah opener and the lackluster Michigan State flop against California, what do you guys think this season holds for the two in-state teams? I think Michigan is going to improve enough to win 6-7 games, since each game is a learning experience for them, and just because I can't imagine Michigan in an ND-esque collapse. Threet will probably have to step up and Rodriguez utilize whatever strengths he can find on the offense. Barring a Spartan face plant against the league's dregs as seems to happen too often, I'm seeing a 7-8 win season for MSU, just because Hoyer can't possibly do worse than the Cal game as a senior, and Ringer alone gives our running game a decent shot at everyone except for OSU. What do you think?

I'm planning Michigan getting the upset on ohio state, so with that win I think we'll lose once or twice against ND, Wisc, Illinois.  Maybe another loss at Penn State and another loss at some random team that we just blow the game.  That would be 8-4 or 7-5.

State I don't think is very good, I think they go 5-7 and lose to Wisc, Penn State, ohio state, Michigan, Illinois and maybe ND or Northwestern.

I didn't think MSU would have a good year before the Cal game, and now I'm even more confident.  MSU brought back their QB and RB, but Hoyer's favorite targets are gone now, and a big reason that Ringer was as effective was because Caulcrick took a lot of the beating off of him.  Without a good second option at tailback, Ringer won't be as good as he looked last year.

MSU also lost some solid talent on defense, from a defense that wasn't that good.  I don't see MSU doing better than last year, and I wouldn't be surprised if they finish 6-6 or worse.

Games are won on the offensive line, and ours is beyond pathetic. To be perfectly honest, I would be happy with 6 wins as we learn the new system, and we will not do so if we wait one half for our defense to play every week. I like what Dantonio has done in EL, and I think that they will beat us this year.
