Seantrel Circus Continues

The headline (from the Star Tribune Prep Pages) is misleading - claims that Henderson is "back on the market when there's no indication that such is actually true - but the tune is familiar.
We end up with a combination of journalistic overreaching, Henersonian circus act - let's stay in that spotlight, boys - and Gopher desperation. Sad all around.

The Gophers aren't mentioned in that article.
Second, notice Sean Henderson's use of the word "we," when it should be "Seantrel." This guy is shady to the max and is on the take.
He's producing a documentary about Seantrel, which is ongoing. So, none of what is happening should be surprising in the least.

... is implied. There is an undercurrent of hope among the Twin Cities sports media, perhaps understandable, and however unreasonable, that Henderson will stay at home.

I agree, any time you see the parent being basically the only source of information on the recruiting, it sounds fishy. At best it's an overprotective worrywart of a parent, but let's be honest - that type of parent doesn't let their kid play football to begin with.
I call bullshit on this whole thing about "what's best for my kid's future," etc. USC is not at all a bad school, you can get a good education there, and any blue-chip prospect there will get all the exposure for the NFL he needs because it's LA. Sanctions or not, if it was "all about my kid's future" he'd go to USC if he wanted. You have to wonder.

When I have a kid, if I ever say "we" in reference to decisions about my son/daughter's future, that means I'm "shady" and "on the take."
I am also shady if I want my son to go to a school that isn't handcuffed by sanctions.

the more articles I read about this guy, the more it reminds me of the documentary Hoop Dreams. You have some supposed young star that is going to make it huge one day, yet poor decisions by many involved get in the way. At least that is how it was for Arthur Agee, dont remember the other kid's name, but I guess he had injury problems that hurt him more.
But still, this type of thing for kids this young is just disgusting. Yet I still find myself glued to the computer on signing day.

I also read comments from the Viking's lineman saying that he had been talking to Henderson and he was told he still might consider Miami. I thought contact like that from an alumni player was illegal. Wasn't that what got Dez Bryant in trouble?

I was at a party last weekend in Mobile, AL (site of the Senior Bowl) with Oklahoma State Quarterback Zac Robinson and he told me about what really happened. The public didn't get the whole story and there was actually money involved. He also said something to the extent of: after practicing with Tebow, I can't believe that team ever won any games.

I got to talk to quite a few players and many of them were a little arrogant. However, BG and Zoltan were the nicest guys there by far. BG gave our group a big bear hug on his way to the autograph table. Also, we didn't have tickets to the game, so Zoltan hooked us up with tickets they gave him for his family (coincidentally, we sat next to his parents at the game) and invited us to the players party hosted by his agent's company. Zac was just commenting on Tebow's technique. Also, it should come as no surprise that the biggest deush was Notre Dame's own Sam Young.

Seantrel took his fifth official visit to Miami the weekend of the Pro Bowl. He went to the Mansion Night Club with Bryant McKinnie and Willis McGahee and hung out there (no doubt the elder Henderson, who is no older than 35, was there as well).
You might remember the result of this soiree - McKinnie got so drunk that he missed practice the next morning and was booted from the Pro Bowl.
So, Seantrel is hanging out in clubs at age 17/18, flying all over the country..........and he's still 2 points short of qualifying for college and is missing school left and right.

His father sounds like a super shady character. Feels exactly like the Bryce Brown situation, except the "handler" is his father. Yikes

I don't know that this is what's happening, but if he's waiting to see what the NCAA does w/ USC then I don't blame him at all. It's only smart to make sure that you know what you're signing up for.

I'm surprised that more USC commits aren't doing the same thing. Why would you want to go somewhere if you know they could get slapped with some killer sanctions. I understand that for some, USC was always their dream school or something like that, but at some point you have to realize that it may not be in your best interest to commit there. I think Seantrel is handling this the right way and his dad seems to have a good head on his shoulders too.

I actually agree that Henderson waiting to sign an LOI until the findings come out (relatively soon) makes sense if he wants to go to USC. If the sanctions are just win forfeits or 2-3 scholarships, then he signs. If the death penalty gets imposed, then he goes elsewhere--without having to wait for the NCAA to give everyone a free transfer (a la SMU).
Howeva, the rest of his recruitment has been a total joke. Committing in NY? Really? His dad needs to keep Seantrel focused, because otherwise he may forfeit millions in top left tackle money in the NFL.

Sean Henderson was way too quick to dismiss Michigan. He wants a future in the rap game ... without even trying A2 nurtured the latent talents of the Coner. We got the Prez on the rise, backed by the fat beats laid down by Triple O. Sheeee-it. LA got nothing on that.
He coulda been the next Suge Knight while Seantrel kept his head in the game, got a degree and flat kilt people on the way to the '12 NC.

I'm getting tired of the trend for #1 recruits to drag our their commitment like premadonnas. They think they are superstars without ever playing a D-1 game.
