Guys, FWIW, King Beaver has gone "sunny sider" on Sean Parker. Parker has apparently moved his announcement day up to January 2.
A sunny sider (KB says he's too chicken to go higher) is a pretty good sign, usually.
Can't we just get the normal "gut feeling".
I should have explained "sunny sider" more specifically than "it's usually a good sign."
Sunny sider means "it's usually a good sign" that King Beaver feels pretty confident about the possibility of UM maybe having a chance to be in the running to get a commitment from parker.
Or is that your somewhat mocking gloss on it? If "sunny sider" actually means that it might be a good sign of his confidence in a possibility of maybe having a chance, that's really really amazing.
The only words I see here are:
chance to be in the running..
The more words you used, the less and less confident/excited I got.
I thought it was funny.
you also thought that your joke yesterday was funny...
That was the point; I was making light of that thread. Two posters whiffed on his sarcasm, and got multi-posbanged. I was just letting him know that even though the WLA left, there are still a (diminishing?) few people left who aren't excessively literal or uptight. Neg away if you feel like spending the time.
Did they go to Middle Earth or something?
an 85% chance that UM will have a 50% chance of being in the running for a verbal from Parker.
I guess I'm saying that we HAVE A CHANCE!
Nothing personal at all, but that was less concrete than jello. I feel pretty confident about the possibility of having a chance to be in the running to get a supermodel if I actually would ever meet one. That, however, is extraordinarily unlikely.
Thanks for explaining it though. Here, we speak on gut feelings.
Now don't be guilty of Ugly Wolverine Syndrome (UWS)--just learn to be bilingual so you know what I'm talking about when I relay something King Beaver says.
I just thought the terminology of King Beaver was a tad odd and rather funny.
a sunny sider sounds far too much like "happy ending" if you know what I mean....
All very promising, but what about his PAD LEVEL?
What I want to know is how flexible his hips are.
Man, so much for needing more DB's.
Can haz DBs.
taking paid subscription info and putting it here... it's one thing if it's in a headline thats obvious like "DID UM GET NEW COMMIT???" above a picture of Richard Ash, but it's another to do this
It is one thing to post a tidbit of information from a paysite; it is another to lift entire articles/sections from said paysite.
This is the former, and I don't see anything wrong with it - this gets done all the time. Now if SM/KoB had copy/pasted the entire post then it might be a different story.
Dadgum double post.
Sean Parker would instantly be my most favoritest recruit in this class if he committed.
Right behind Vinopal.
I'm kidding. Don't spaz please.
Why Parker out of curiosity?
Josh at Rivals posted basically the same thing as Beaver last night.
(Except Josh worded it, you know, like an adult.)
I was just wondering where you see that?
I am seeing a rumor that we may have made some progress with Mike Thornton... I haven't seen anything on Parker.
The Parker tidbit on Rivals? It was on their premium message board...if you can read it, skim it for Josh's "addendum to ITF Re: Sean Parker" topic. He posted it around 8:00 last night.
Yea, thanks that's the one. Man that was buried deep. (That's what she said). 9 pages back.
There is no one on the planet who abuses the English language more than Tom Beaver.
I'm finals wasted, please excuse my lack of intelligence.
More than Yogi Berra? I've got to see this......
you must know someone.
Does he plan to enroll early? Is this why moving the date up is a good sign?
Unless he has already enrolled and the receiving team knows, he's not enrolling early. Classes here start the 6th so that'd be a pretty tight schedule
but DAMN it would be sweet to land Parker! Seriously, it would make this one of my favorite recruiting classes ever (assuming everything else unfolds as it should).
Quite a turn around considering my feelings early on during the recruiting process this year.
It is a long and grueling marathon. You've got to be able to make it to the end or else you end up having a race named after you!
When I get the gut feeling from Sam I'll feel confident.
But does he have a uniquename yet?
I have a uniquename, can you guess what it is? No seriously, that's really my uniquename.
I think Parker is a safety we haven't had at Michigan in a very long time. He's a true center fielder who can not only tackle, but also play the ball, pick it off, and go the other way. He's not a midget like Vinopal or Mike Williams or Thomas Gordon, and he's got more speed than Carvin Johnson or Marvin Robinson.
I really think this kid is going to be good. He might not make an immediate impact, but he could very well be our starting SS once Troy Woolfolk leaves.
as happy as a little girl if U of M got that kind of player. Michigan hasn't had one of those since...uh...
Gotcha, it seemed like an intersting pick as your favorite (fingers crossed) recruit. Though his one disadvantage is his size, being only 5'10/11 so he may not be a midget but he's not huge.
I certainly agree however that I would love to add Parker to this class. All of a sudden our secondary could potentially go from OMGPLZRUNON3RD&LONG to feeling pretty comfortbable with the wealth of talent that we'll have back there. Let's hope we get this guy!
And FWIW, I am really liking this recruiting class. We are really filling all of our needs rather than getting guys just to get them. Good job RR.
Sorry, I have been watching the LOTR trilogy the past two days, and man do they have some Beaverisms in the dialogue. Still, I love the trilogy.
"midget like Vinopal"
Jeebus, apparently those midgets are getting bigger by the day.
I like other players. I think Gardner's going to be good, I like Marvin Robinson, I like Tony Drake, I like Christian Pace. I just think Parker has "it." He's just a fluid athlete, and when you have guys like that, the sky's the limit because the fundamental things can be taught.
Tony Drake and Sean Parker are fluid athletes. They're just fun to watch. Some of these other guys might turn out to be good. For example, Marvin Robinson is a good athlete, but sometimes when he runs, he looks like he's going to fall flat on his face. Vinopal is supposedly fast, but when he runs full speed, his legs go in about 14 different directions.
no shit, I just fell out of my chair laughing after reading these two posts.
he commits, that would be awesome
Usually when I have my eggs sunny side up, I have a good feeling in my gut for the rest of the day.
With all of the remaing recruits that we still have a shot at, Shaw, Stills, Furman, Big Tex, Hankins, Jefferson, Murphy, Grimes, Parker, Mathis, and a few more, is anyone else kind of dissapointed seeing guys like Ray Vinopal and Stephen Hopkins on our commits list? It seems like there is a fairly good chance we wont have room for a very good recruit, because our class is full and has some much lower recruits. Does anyone else think that Rich Rod offered way to early on these guys, when he could of been recruiting some of the guys i listed instead? I mean in Vinopals case, he has offers from Michigan, Kent State, and Bowling Green. Kinda wonder why we would offer on someone like that when we still have a shot at all the guys i listed
will not end well for you.
If Vinopal had certain intangibles you wouldn't know it. They'd be intangible.
I wonder if your mom ever looked around at the kids that weren't eating paste in elementary school, looked at your glue covered mouth, sighed, and wished she had a 5* child instead of you.
I have let it be known that I am not a fan of the Vinopal offer/commitment. If it prevents us from getting someone like Parker, then yeah, I think it's not a good thing, because there are better players out there.
But as someone pointed out to me the last time I argued this, perhaps the coaches know that Parker or Beachum or Recruit X isn't coming to Michigan. I'm okay with Vinopal in this class if he's taking a scholarship that nobody else will.
(For the record, there are one or two other commits that I would prefer to see exit the picture before Vinopal, but I won't bother mentioning their names.)
A lot of years the class gets a commit or two early on which causes the class to fill up and maybe makes us say no to a guy we wanted instead. This is the gamble you take.
The other side of that gamble is when you wait too long and you end up getting a couple guys decommit near (or on) signing day and you aren't able to replace those guys. Or you just wait too long on a guy and by the time you think you have room for him he's sold on Other School X.
I'm not saying we should always sign every guy who wants to come, but that there's two sides to that coin and the spot we're in isn't a bad one at all. We couldn't afford to wait and have a less-than-full class again this year.
It was easy to figure out the meaning of this using my Tom Beaver - English translator.
