Screened vs Tackle Twill Jersey
Tackle Twill is pretty close to an authentic jersey. The numbers are all sewn in. The screened everythig is screen print.
If those two are what you are between then go with Tackle Twill!
If you are going with the away jersey then definitely get the tackle twill as the maize line around the chest area on the screened print just looks stupid.
Go Replica Tackle Twill...looks a ton better and will save you money in the long run as it will hold up much better than screen print.
the tackle twill letters and numbers are thicker and sewn on...it has a more authentic feel to it...Screened ones are everywhere...I wont buy screened ones anymore, I like to personalize all of mine. You can personalize the screened ones also, just sayin Good luck.
Definitely go with tackle twill. I bought an authentic home Forcier jersey last year (stupid...) and a tackle twill away Denard jersey a week ago. When considering the price difference (about $80), the tackle twill is the much better choice, and the quality is surprisingly comparable.
...Tate will contribute this year...
the mid range Adidas jerseys are definitely the way to go. Those replica jerseys are more like practice jerseys, yechhhh.
Go with the twill for your first. More expensive, but worth it. Much more durable and also a little warmer so it is suited better for most of the games. I have worn my screened #1 jersey the past two games because of warm it has been, but very soon it will be time for the #20 Nike Twill. Mike Hart rules!!!
My wife and I just had a long discussion about this topic this weekend. I suspect she thinks I'm just WAY too concerned about the details of her jersey.
Nevertheless, the biggest difference that I see between the authentic and screened jerseys -- aside from the embroidered numbers -- is the position of the trim/piping. Granted, this applies only to the away (white) jerseys, as the home jersey have no visible trim. But if you look at game pictures, the yellow trim starts about midway up the neckline and angles down toward the armpit. On screened jerseys (at least women and youth), the trim is a straight line across the chest, about level with the bottom of the v-neck. At the shoulders, the trim changes direction and goes straight down.
On women's jerseys, the fabric is about the same everywhere. On youth jerseys, the twill is on the shoulders, but it's mesh below the trimline. Screening numbers on a mesh jersey looks a bit odd, if you ask me.
When in doubt, spend a little extra for the good one. It'll last you a while.
Of course, your next problem is that the only ones in stock are #5...
FTR, I recently (a couple weeks ago) got a tt jersey from Moe's with the #1. I know it doesn't correlate to anybody right now, but it's a traditional number and somebody's bound to wear it again some day. At any rate, I got the home jersey and I love it. And you get free shipping on purchases > $50.
/shameless plug for Moe's.
nothing wrong with being overly concerned about the details of her jersey...hiyo!
Tackle twill all the way, man. The screeners just look sort of cheap. I'm not trying to offend anyone, but it's pretty much fact that the TT jerseys are a better quality.
Last year I was able to find an Adidas #2 authentic jersey on eBay for $50, but was a dummy and bought a L, so now I have a nice nightshirt.
(FTR I still wear it but I really wish I had gotten the M which would have fit a million times better.) /digression
Yeah, I hear you on the large issue. I am 5'10" 175 and my large is pretty big, definitely wear-able but a medium would fit better.
Yeah, I mean it's not like I'm a little kid wearing grown-up clothes, but there is definitely room to "grow" if I ever decide to pack it in and gain 50 pounds.
(FWIW I'm 6-1, 175)
Medium is the new large.
I'm 6-1, 200-ish and the medium is just about perfect. T-shirts, I'm kinda on the bubble between M & L.
Yep. I'm 5'8"/160 and typically wear M t-shirts, but I got my jersey in a small. It fits pretty snug through the trunk, but it still comes all the way down to my elbows.
Does anyone know what the difference is between the Adidas Authentic jersey ($180)and the Adidas Tackle Twill jersey ($110)?
Where is everyone looking for the jerseys? MDen.com?
So the only difference between the authentic and the tackle twill besides price is the authentic is bigger in the shoulders for pads? So it would look stupid being worn w/o pads right?
and I would 100% recommend the Premier jerseys. They run about $110 vs Replicas for $80 and you get a way better looking product that lasts longer for just a little more money. Better, heavier fabric, stitched fabric letters that won't eventually wash out like decals, from a distance looks like an Authentic.
The Authentics have every detail of course, individually stitched characters vs patched characters, heavier, higher quality mesh, and every logo, shield, etc on that season's jersey. But they cost more than twice as much and fit huge to allow for pads, equipment etc. Not the ideal street garment for most people.
Really, if you can afford the $80, you can spring for an extra $30, only exception would be maybe you're buying for a kid or more casual fan or the jersey you want is hard to get and only available in Replica.
